Edited by: Fiona Korvin on 21/05/2007 19:16:01 I am currently in the process of making an DVD and i need something for the DVD menu. I use DivX author and by that i can implant an animated baground to the menu. So whati am looking for is an animated pic or something like that (don't know a thing about animating). Here is the info.
Animation must be 10 seconds or more, and you should not be able to see that it is repeating itself if you set it on repeat (i.e. start shall be the same as end)
The animation has to be like the Matrix Code in the Matrix movies (you know, the green characters on the screen) but the characters/letters shall not be chineesse. It shal bee Dax0n written in binary (will provide the code).
It shall be able to repeat itself, without any ugly bumps or that sort of things.
Binayr code D = 1000100 a = 1100001 x = 1111000 0 = 0110000 n = 1101110
Color code for the green text: #2EEF1F
Please, if you can do this, then i will be VERY happy. I need this ASAP to begin the production:)
You will ofc be listed in EVERY publication of the dvd as the creator of the animated background.

Take my advice and remove the reward. Forum rules prohibit offering ISK for anything but a few EVE-related authorised things. Might earn the thread the dancing padlock; which would be a shame, because your request is really cool --------

Shouldn't be hard at all... one could use Processing to generate the animation (REALLY easy) and output each screen to an image, then use an AviSynth script to piece it together into a video.

I just futzed around with it for the past hour while on the ride home. I've got a working prototype--just have to fix up a few more things and get the image output working.
Done: Basic animation Looping ability Glow effect implementation Variable brightness columns Variable speed columns
TODO: Individual-character glow morphing Individual-character brightness morphing Ability to save images (so I can make the final video)

are all done. I'm creating a prototype video as we speak--the rendering is quite slow as its using a software renderer (Java's) for creating the image, but it doesn't really have to be fast.
Update:
Bugs found and fixed in the individual-character glow morphing and the variable column speed. The former bug caused characters to randomly disappear, and the latter caused some columns not to move at all, and some not to move at the maximum speed

I'm rendering it in double DVD resolution, i.e. 1440x960. What format do you want me to convert it into for your use?
I can add:
a) Motion blur--probably very important to make it look non-jerky b) Resize to 720x480
Do you want either of these?

DS always wins computer threads, I wish I knew a lt of the stuff he knew. But I will stick with my uber nerdieness and continue work on my robot using a laptop running linux as a base. I need more free time to finish it, and maybe a camera so I can take a few pics and show everyone. but till then, DS beats me -=#=- Angry beer bottles make Kaemonn a sad panda

add motion blur if it makes it look way cooler:) don't have to rezize it:) the 1440x960 is cool:) and formats... hmm... in the program it looks like i have to put it in as a picture, so if you could add it as a picture or something like that, then it would be awesome:)

What do you mean, a picture? Its a 60-second long (roughly), 1700-frame video.
Anyways I got a working video but managed to screw up the looping, so I'll get it by the end of today hopefully.

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 22/05/2007 13:17:27 Low-quality, low-resolution encode of the working video.
Its in a self-playing BIK executable, so it will work on basically any computer (unlike a real good encode which might need a 3Ghz just to play back, since the full size is 1440x960). It also loops perfectly using the EXE.
Talk to me in-game and I can get you the full version, which is 700MB losslessly compressed with Lagarith.

omg it's cool:) i like it. Im a completed idiot when it comes to these kind of things:) I need it for the menu background and i've tried to open the file into the background thingie, but the program doesn't support the BIK files :(. So, is there any chance you could convert it to some of these formats?

The BIK file was just as an example--the final will be in something you can import.
