Firstly, are there any commands that can be typed into the chat window that make the ship do anything? If not... I propose an idea, intruciding such commands.
In the last game i played, when you typed in "/goto XXXXX", your ship set autopilot and you went there. In eve... open map, search for system, right click, set destination, close map, hit autopilot button. Anyone think this is a little... long?
This would allow people like me(who actually likes typing... to a point) command my ship without using my mouse too often.
Suggested commands
/goto (see above)
/speed (max, min, 142, etc.)
/align (celestial object - Gate (jita))
/dock (docks at nearest station, or 'jita 4 moon 4' would dock at jita 4-4)
/ewarp (emergency warp out anyone? sends you to a random object on your overveiw, or pre-set object)
/pewpew (shoots off all weapons at targeted object)
/selfboom (self distruct countdown starts)
/nerf (caused the weapons used agaist you to do negligable damage)
/godmode (full cap all the time, full shields, full armor...)
/hud (hud turns off)
Ok, a few of those were thrown in there for fun...
Perhaps instead of in any chat window, in a 'ship commands' window? (top right hand of screen on top of system name, below speed indicator... mobile even?)

Won't happen. Would be nice but I believe the idea is that it wouldn't have a useful impact on gameplay for most of us but would make macros a lot easier to program.
Could be nice. But I don't think it would have enough of an impact to be worth the trouble.

i suppose that is true, the macro deal. but then again, there are always turing(sp?) tests for that!

I could think about only one really usefull command: goto system_name. It's hardly exploitable by macroers but it's much faster than looking for system in People&Places or on MapBrowser.

Typeable commands would be abused by macros. Ergo, no typeable commands.
