Hi,
I started doing COSMOS missions yesterday and after finding an agent that would talk to me I took the mission and completed it.
The next agent I spoke to gave details of a mission that involved Hacking-Which I don't do.I didn't accept the mission but it's now showing in my journal as accepted.Is this normal or should I petition it?
If I don't complete the mission what sort of standings hit will I recieve? Will it affect any other COSMOS stuff I want to do?

Petition it .. you won't be able to do it again if you fail the mission. However, you may be able to buy the item to complete the mission off the market. Which mission from which agent?

The agent was Sebast Mathon and the mission is Path to enlightenment-Deception(1 of 3)
I can get science to V in 4 days.I was wondering if it's worth training hacking if there are more COSMOS missions I can use it in.

Alot of cosmos require you to do hacking and archeology to retrieve stuff (CodeBreaker I and Analyzer I mods). Level of your skills affect your chances.

His mission is very much worthwhile IIRC - buy the threaded waypoint map he's asking for.
Hacking is useful only in COSMOS or exploration, or as a prerequisite to invention. You can make quite a bit of cash from it if you're willing to deal with the issues around hacking plexes (farming, lag, heavy NPC fire)

Please excuse my noobness on missions. I've only recently started doing them and have a question regarding cosmos missions.
Where do I find a cosmos agent. I have hacking to lvl 3 just because, so I think I'd be able to do them. The lvl 2's I do are a breeze in my vexor. Of course I've been playing for a year pvping in 0.0, so they should be.

That's correct, for missions listed as "Storyline - Trade" you can do this.

There is a forum post which at the least has a primer for each of the 4 races cosmos on This link The quality of the primers for each of the races varies as clearly they are not all done by the same person - still worth a look to get going
Golden rule of cosmos is accepting to and talking to agents - don't accept till you have the item and don't talk unless you got time to do a mission -
remember the clock counts starts when you accept the first part of the storyline and the clicks down until you get to the final part (most people think the time limit is per part and that is incorrect.
If you get really stuck you might find a friendly face in channel ANR (or you might be ignored for a few weeks) - you never know though one of the guys might feel like a chat , you can also buy and sell COSMOS BPOs in channel ANR

There is a way to complete the mission without the hacking skill...
AGENT: Antogase Pandon (Trossere VII - Moon 3)
Balancing the Books (10 part mission)
Character - Gallente
Mission 1 - skill i think (science or survey)
Mission 2 - skill i think (science or survey)
Mission 3 - Civilian Salvager
Mission 4 - Civilian Codebreaker & Civilian Analyzer & Civilian Data Core (needed for part 10)
Mission 5 - Imicus
Mission 6 - Civilian Data Interface
Mission 7 - Cybernetics Skill
Mission 8 - Salvaging Skill
Mission 9 - Cybernetics skill / part for last mission
Mission 10 - didn't complete
