the article is a couple of months out of date - relic aren't developing it, Vigil Games are.

The terminally sad will be delighted to hear that the warhammer 40k mmo includes the Necromunda IP aswell, which as we all know, was a squad based semi-RP 40k spinoff which was much better than it's parent in every single way. Except nobody actually bought it and it got pulled.
Here's hoping it's not a half baked pile of ****e.

Edited by: ry ry on 24/05/2007 11:43:36 actually one thing that does bother me a bit is how the player base will be distributed.
for example there are supposed to be innumerable imperial guardsmen from a thousand worlds accross the known universe, and an elite few space marines picked from a few feral deathworlds, but realistically there are going to be loads and loads of people wanting to be space marines, and very few people wanting to learn to play as a 'weaker' guardsman.
I only hope they don't bother trying to include Squats. it'd be a bit embarrassing to have an entire race nobody wants to be!
personally i'd want to play either a chaos character or a hiver. both those push my buttons way more than being a boring old spacemarine.

the more i think about it, the more i really like that idea.
it even fits in with the fluff - as you get more exp your rank increases and so does the size of squad you 'command'.

Afaik Vigil Games aren't anything to do with SoE.
They're a fairly new studio who did some work on Exarch, an RPG due to be published by NCSoft which never made it to release.

the deal they have includes the Necromunda IP and some other one (inquisition?) but i forget which, so its safe to assume they'll be including at least one hive, possibly more (maybe as instances) and probably at least the original houses.
