I'm not sure if this has been up before but the NPC bounties on "show info" doesn't match the on-screen information (green ticks) once a NPC is killed. It is usually off by 5% |

This is due to the update which introduced the Encounter Surveillance System (ESS) back in 2014.
https://community.eveonline.com/news/dev-blogs/more-deployables-from-super-friends/
- All nullsec rats now only payout 95% of their listed bounty. - If an ESS is deployed in the system, then payouts become 80% of the listed bounty, the remaining 20% is stored in the ESS. - Over time the part of the bounty stored in the ESS can rise to 25%, making the total payout 105% of the listed bounty. - Any player can access the ESS, they can choose to either take all the stored bounty for themselves or to share it between all players who contributed to the pool. |

Have to say ESS is probably one of the dumber, and most useless things EVE has added. What idiot would steal the whole pool knowing full well it's going to be broadcasted in local? Answer no one smart enough to survive null. Neuts certainly aren't going to risk trying access it thanks to the broadcast, and the warp bubble it would be suicide. So yeah the ESS is THE MOST USELESS addition to EVE since Aurum, and the New Eden Store. Not mention the freaking price tag. Here pay 30 mil for the pleasure of visting this useless addition to the game once a day for a 5% bonus to your bounty payments in nulsec.
I try to be nice and mind my business just shooting lasers at rocks. There is just way too many asshats in New Eden for that to happen.

Yet another failed and abandoned "feature" providing interesting "content" for new players.
Seriously, for the first few years I played this game, I thought it was so rich in detail and player mechanics.
Very slowly, after being educated by other players, I have come to realise that Eve is broken mechanics built on failed ideas, built on broken mechanics. the pile up of all the failure and simplistic reasoning from CCP staff has created a big jumble of space debris that looks, to the untrained eye, like something vast and complex, and functioning.
i wonder what the game would be like, what it would look like to the new player, if somebody honest stripped out all the failed and abandoned "features" of the game.
The worst thing is when CCP send staff out to solicit "player suggestions" with regard to projects that CCP know full well were abandoned long ago because the basic idea they were trying to achieve was terrible, and the execution worse.
CCP are a culture where integrity is held in contempt. It is why the owners can't sell the firm, despite desperately wanting to rid themselves of their renegade staff.
Eve only gets better when:
1. CCP sell the IP to a serious media firm. 2. They move out of Iceland and to a real place with real professionals. 3. They install a culture of basic decency and integrity through new leadership across the board.
Those things would be more painful and costly than simply starting from scratch, and that is why i doubt the game will ever be sold and properly developed.
Pity. |

You don't want EVE sold. The first update would surely introduce true P2W, and micro transactions out the wazzo. A MMO being sold is quite possibly the worst thing that could happen to it. It dies a slow horrible death at the hands of devs that care more about money than the game.

The first thing that would happen after a sale would be a split into a PvE and a PvP server. |
