hello or "yarrrr" as i read on these forums (:
i just joined eve with a gallente - intaki character. i have read so much about the "bad" side of eve that i want to try too! Now since i only have the starter skills of gallente ( Gallente Frigate IV, Drones V, Drones Interfacing IV ) and more support skills, i would like to ask what i need to skill to get a good pirate!!!
i would like to fly gallente ships because i read they are good for pvp and piracy!
maybe some other advices are cool too! i read the guide for scann, handling etc, but some fine tips would be great too!
thanks in advance and Yarrrr!!!

fastest way for you to get specialized in offense would be training your drone skills so you can use Hammerhead II's and Ogre II's
And go for the vexor -> Myrmidon -> Dominix -> Ishtar
Something like that.. -

Hi loki:)
Gallente is a great race for pvp indeed but they are lacking in the frig department so it is wise to wait till you get your cruiser skills up and be able to use a thorax or vexor To summarize they divert into two main branches being drone boats and high damage per second blaster boats. You should get a good feeling which suits you best by using thorax and vexor and specialize in your choice. But to add drone boats are prefered a lot these days because of the versatility they offer. You need some navigation, fitting and electronics and engineering skills supported with weapon type of your choice skills(drones or blasters) to start piracy. I suggest you to spend about 3 months working on these skills and learning game mechanics. You should start doing missions in this period to make your wallet fat for your piracy career

Just train for all 4 races of drones.. They do their own type of damage, and you often come across a target who has a weak resistance in either EM, Explosive, kinetic or thermal..
Also fit sensor damps, it keeps your targets locktime slow so you can scoop + re-deploy drones.. -

Yes loki you get it right All gallente ships starting after frigate class have great uses. They have nice cruisers, battlecruisers, battleships and so.. Especially I am sure you are gonna like myrmidon battlecruiser a lot if you decide to specialize on drones But as I can understand you are a fairly new player so don't rush the things. I hope you have done the tutorial which is quite helpful if you didn't you should. Start doing missions even they seem far away from piracy they will do a great job for teaching you to use the fight commands such as orbiting, keeping range etc. and they are a good source for money too. If you wana play for the long haul train your learning skills basics to 5 and advanced to 4. In about 3 months you can easily start experimenting setups on other players kindly( ) and improving them. Cruisers are fully insurable so it won't bother you much loosing them Then when you get confident contiinue your pirating with battlecruisers and so on. To use a big ship without enough skills will just ensure your death even aginst a smaller foe so specialize as much as you can.Enjoy the game

I'd say you're on the right track tbh. drone ships are real nice for piracy when ur not on a gate and skills like drone interfacing are often left at low lvls by new players not realising what a huge different it makes.
keep training the support skills and don't jump into a bigger ship unless ur sure that it's actually going to be noticably better than the previous one.
also make sure for piracy to get your nav skills, cap skills and some electronics skills up to at least 4. sig analysis should be at lvl5 for any budding piwate and the first time u lose a target the second u get a lock on him you'll realise that it's worth the few days to do it.
ships that you might want to look at for gallente piracy.
belt work or 0.0:
ishkur, taranis, vexor, thorax, myrmidon, brutix, ishtar, eos all are good ships
for gate work you can use a 1600 plated thorax for hauler popping and things like that. later on the astarte and megathron etc .
gallente are a very solid race atm and plenty of good ships from all classed to choose from.

but remember u can train fit vexor > myrmi > domi > ishtar
but the ships in order of pvp ability go like this
vexor > ishtar > myrmidon > dominix
well perhaps the myrmi and the ishtar are close but the domi pwns them all.
dont forget the frigs the taranis is a fantastic little pvp boat as is the ishkur.
and the recons! arazu pwns bs solo no end. gallente is a fantastic race to train and i wish u GL
PS......
And the astarte is the daddy of all the non capital ships.
