OK heres the deal. there is no bonafide way of ensuring that a lottery isnt a scam in fact trust and a good reputation, like so many enterprises in Eve, are the only way forward.
I propose a slightly different approach. having wanted to start a lottery in Eve for a few months now and having to continuously discard ideas i have finally come up with a way that may work. hence i present to you the take a chance lottery:
there is only 1 prize, and thats cash. in fact its the total ticket money collected.
there are no limits on places or numbers of tickets. every player and his alt(s) can buy as many as they like.
now heres the minor difference that sets this lottery apart. most lotteries charge millions for the chance to win whatever prize they are offering, that means your risking a lot of money on a dubious lottery for a mediocre prize. The take a chance lottery costs only
10,000isk to enter.
throw away money for even the poorest of n00bs. Therefore who cares if its a scam? if it is you lose 10k thats less than 1000 rounds of small ammo and if it isnt then your in with a chance of winning hundreds of millions. of course i assure you that it isnt, but thats exactly what somebody would say if it was, hence the catch 22 ive been struggling with
Once a few weeks have gone by and more winners (who i shall ask to post in this thread)are confirmed and paid the reputation of the lottery will grow, meaning bigger prizes. The initial cost of a ticket will never rise, however once Ling Lin's name is associated with a trustworthy lottery i will be creating more, bigger and better ways of turning your hard earned isk into even more easily earned isk.
now for the technical bit:
all tickets 10k as mentioned.
The lottery is based on the UK national lottery Bonus ball (1-49)
all entries choosing the correct number will share the prize money equally.
money must be sent to Ling Lin. with an email stating which number(s) you choose
final entries saturday at midday Eve time to give me a chance to get all the entries sorted.
Isk payed out to winners at 8:00 Eve time on sunday
this is a non profit making lottery the sole purpose of which (other than making you rich) is to build a reputable reputation for future projects.
please dont hesitate to post or evemail Ling Lin if you have any questions.

How do we know its non profit and that your not lying about the number of tickets you have sold?

Well as i stated there is no sure fire way of proving anything. i could post screenshots of my wallet as isk passes in and out but depending on the number of entries that may be impractical.
the point being for 10k isk it costs virtually nothing to enter, like the UK lottery which is only ú1 for the chance to win millions...
