There have been a number of recent connectivity issues facing the community. In recent weeks one of our Internet Service Providers has been troubleshooting faulty equipment and exchanging hardware, thus resulting in a number of early morning (GMT) disconnects. This was also the reason for the delayed patch deployment as we lost connection to the test servers and could not perform necessary QA on the patch.
We have also been experiencing hardware issues of our own, the IT team is at the London server site troubleshooting hardware and cabling. Most of the troubleshooting and equipment replacement has been made without any visible impact on player connectivity, but sometimes this is not the case.
The server issue of a few moments ago resulted from a loose cable connection that was noticed and plugged in fully. This caused the server to re-evaluate the network pathways and, if I understand the situation correctly, force a number of nodes to be moved to hardware we have been encountering issues with, thus causing the node failures.
We are aware of the impact these issues are having on the EVE community and are working diligently to resolve them in as fast a manner as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience the connectivity issues has had on the community's enjoyment of EVE.

Thanks for the heads up Kieron , just leting you know that some of us lost quite a bit due to this problem but some GM said that they see no server issue. Give them the proper instructions.

"Loose" cable connection that was "noticed" and plugged back in fully...
Is that just a euphemism for tripping over a cable?

Not to steal the thread here, but you did mention the patch-deployment yourself
I was under the impression that it was CCP policy to not patch any later than wednesday, so as to reduce the risk of a weekend of post-patch horror ?

As it turns out, I didn't understand the situation fully. When the cable was fully connected, the connection path was re-evaluated, a faster patch discovered, the nodes were disconnected and reconnected, thus causing the outage.

Normally, we do not like deploying a patch later in the week than Wednesday, so you are correct. However, we decided it was best to resolve the exploits sooner rather than deploy the fixes a week later.

Band Width error take off EvE-Voice no offence its a great game but i have a feeling Eve-voice will kill it making more band width than intended, there are apps out there for this kind of thing ie: Ventrillo, TeamSpeak and some Messengers atleat then it will not affect your BW from eve im not a game designer but im sure it's only going to get worse and cost CCP more than intended with more people joining eve doing missions and so on with out the hastle of eve-voice. if im wrong plese let me know =)

Level 3 has now corrected all packet loss issues. This hopefully has solved most of the problems with users not able to connect to TQ.
Please let us know if you have noticed this improvement and if you are still experiencing issues. Thank you.

I'm still experiencing 40-50% packet loss - I think it started on monday and I have checked from two different places/ISP:s here in Sweden (telia and bbb).
(Ping is fast though hover around 40ms. Much faster/shorter route than ever before.)

It's fixed,, a new feature called 'stargates' which you can use to leave the system.
C'mon, motsu has 10 times the lag for a quarter of the population of jita because in jita it's only lots of one person doing trading, griefing, hanging outside 4-4 coz it's cool,,,
Motsu is full of mission runners. Each person spawns another 100 or so objects per mission = lotsa lag. Remember, deadspaces and their contents are scan-probable, so this info has to go out to everyone in some form.
EDIT: there is quite a bit of post patch pain tho, as usual :) Improve Market Competition! |

Tell them to correct the issues they have had on the east coast for at least the last 6 months, please.
I know admins that were customers of L3 that had to bail because of their VERY POOR network and support on the US east coast.
So, good luck on them actually fixing it.
