Yeah that would be awsome!
However what i'd really want is for nvidia to make some drivers that actually work with vista!

pshhh, go back to your hole. people said the same thing about XP and 2000 when they came out. I STILL know people who swear that windows 98 was the best windows ever. Quit being ********.

I haven't played with vista in-depth yet but it all seems to work perfectly, granted mine is the business version so should be fairly stable, the drivers worked fine except for a few missing options, it even picked up EVE and listed it in the games folder even though it wasn't actually installed, i have the sidebar turned off anyways but this would be a cool idea :) ---------

Compare security in 2000 to that of XP, and then XP to Vista. Its quite the downhill slide. I use to have a PC that used ME edition, and it would reduce to 50% CPU time after about 6 hours of use. I foresee the same nonsense with Vista. So, I say again.
Don't use Vista, ffs.

I quite enjoy the whole, "You need DirectX 10 to walk around in stations, but oops! YOU NEED VISTA FOR DIRECTX 10!". I'll lose no sleep over updated graphics, the day after I bought EVE after release, the pretty aspect to EVE lost all interest to me.

Vista is to XP as Windows ME was to 98.
Its a dead end. They'll end up trashing the codebase and starting over, like they did with ME.

You mean the graphics update that doesn't require DirectX 10?
There will be two engines, DX9 and DX10, that are almost 100% functionally equivalent. The DX10 one will run about 15% slower I'm guessing, since Vista is a lot slower for games, of course.

Ya, that would be good (linky to please to anyone kind enough to have made this ). Also, I bought this laptop new, and from what I gathered the new models dont use XP anymore, and if I wanted it I would have to buy a copy of it to replace Vista, so no, it actualy works well for what I need it to.
Note to all, What I say may be infact of a more humorous tone than comes accross. |

umm...
im runing vista, and i can run 4 accounts, with all having 80-90 fps when in space. 110sh when docked.
no idea what you mean by vista runs slower.
im using vista ultimate 2.4ghz core2 duo nvidia 7900gs 4gb memory.
i can also run other FPS games like BF2, BF2142, America's Army, with very good FPS. I even left 1 eve session runing by accident once and was play America's Army fine.

Haha that is only jsut over the recommended minimum for the OS. Vista is such an embaressing OS. The only people defending it are the idiots who bought it and want to convince themselves it was not hundreds down the crapper.
And FYI to a few earlier posters, Windows 98 SE *was* the best OS made by Microsoft.

well well... sry for being late. but peeps listen it all comes down how well the code are writen for the os. sure vista isn't that good now. but in time it will be. and btw XP had much problem when they released it to in the begining . and if people are not updated. games on vista will run much better cuz of DX 10. when games are writen to DX 10 it's bye bye for DX 9. if so many says DX 9 is the best why dont we run the older version if DX.
i'm running vista ultima 64bit. without any problems. and thing most of the problems is with EVE servers.. think they need to upgrade more then the Clients. so i say it ones!! VISTA is the FUTURE for a few years... and really wants to see when the new grafic engin for eve comes out.

Edited by: Jarna on 02/06/2007 22:27:27 Yeah..XP actually had alot of problems when it came out. But honestly, it is the most stable OS Microsoft has made to date.
Anybody who says Win9x OS's are better are ignorant. Those things had craploads of crashing problems. I have probably had my whole XP OS lock up on me no more than 3 or 4 times in the however many years its been out. And if a single program crashes, it's because the program was coded poorly or you are overtaxing your system and don't know how to run an OS efficiently (e.g. not having sufficient RAM, CPU, Video Card)
Vista will probably follow the same road and just need an SP or two and it will be stable enough.

Im running amd 4200 dual 2x Nvidia 8800 gts (sli) 4 gigs of ram.
I swaped back to XP-64 from vista because of the low frame rates from the Nvidia drivers, problems upgrading drivers, and the lack of SLI support with 4 gigs on the 64 bit platform. Other than Nvidia causing all my gaming problems, Vista had been great.

Been using Vista64 for a couple of weeks now, and it's sweet, it handles memory like a dream, 2 accounts windowed on seperate monitors, Opera, Ventrillo, Trillian, Avast and windows firewall, on XP32 the mouse freezes every few seconds for a split second, Vista 64 has no such sillyness, FPS are good, and I use vista for everything, except possibly big fleet engagments.
Asus A8V mobo 64bit AMD 4200 x2 4gb DDR400 (unfortunately chipset only sees 3456mb) X1950pro AGP graphics card. Vista64
it screams (specially for an AGP system, who'd have thunk it)

Edited by: Ragos Dain on 03/06/2007 12:31:55 I dont know what version of Vista these people are using but I have been using the home edition for a couple of months now and it has been fault free. I switch back and forth between apps with no hitches what so ever. The only problem I ever have is with the EVE servers.
AMD X2 at 2.4Ghz Nvidia 7900 gs 2 gigs ram
I run EVE at 1680X1050 everything maxed out and I tell you it looks SWEET and runs super fast
