So I've been playing with some possible solo drake set ups. I think I've put all I can into it, so I'd like some comments from the community . So, this is what I got:
Highs: 7 X Arbalast HAM
Mids: 1 X 24 KM scram, 1 X 10 MN ABII, 4 X Phased Muon Sensor Damps
Lows: 4 X BCU II's
Rigs: 1 Cap Amount Rig, 2 X Missile Velocity Rigs
Basicly just orbit at 14 Km and pound away as most ships wont' be able to lock you, (battelships will if they have sensor boosters) and chew away at them with 358 DPS.
Any suggestions to improve on this would be greatly appreciated
Kind of like the Triforce in Zelda, only not quite as potent.

Edited by: Corwain on 26/05/2007 03:56:53 First off despite what you might have heard on the forums damps are really not that great on a non-bonused ship The 4th BCU II does practically nothing. The 4th damp as well if you have more than 3 damps on one target, but it could be useful if you're facing 2 targets you can put 2 damps on each. Really won't help you much if you're only using an AB as you won't be able to keep **** at range.
Using damps to force people into close range battle with ya is great if you have a powerful close range weapon on you. I do see the HAMs which are so-so damage (good for missiles) but with no tank and not enough speed to keep them at range, and not enough range yourself to hit them when you have them at range and damped I don't see much point in the damps. Just fit a real tank.
If you want to do a Nano/damp-drake fit like so: Drake
7x Heavy Missile Launcher II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I Warp Disruptor II 3x Remote Sensor Dampener II (Much better price than Muons, and since you're not flying a Force Recon with lvl4 Recon you'll have the CPU for it. Barely, with lvl5 WU and lvl5 Electronics. Which I do. And you really shouldn't be playing with damps as primary form of defense without the prereqs for that anyhow)
3x Ballistic Control System II Local Hull Conversion Overdrive Injector I
Rigs : Polycarbon Engine Housing I \ Low Friction Nozzle Joints I \ Inverted Signal Field Projector I \
5x Hobgoblin II
Mkay, now if you want a close range damage/tank do something like this:
7x 'Arbalest' Heavy Assault Missile Launcher I [50xTerror Assault Missile] Small Diminishing Power System Drain I
Large Shield Booster II Invulnerability Field II 10MN Afterburner II Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I Warp Disruptor II Fleeting Propulsion Inhibitor I
3x Ballistic Control System II Reactor Control Unit II
Rigs : Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I \ Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I \ Anti-Thermal Screen Reinforcer I \
5x Hobgoblin II
Drake really doesn't do this role that well however. No matter what you do to a Drake you cannot make it into an AC, Blaster, or Pulse boat. Missiles are inherently different than turrets, and serve a different role.

I like your setup for certain ships, would be good vs another missile boat or long range gun boat. I think you'd go down fast vs a blaster ship though.
Queue the laughter but for blaster boats etc you could try this!
Heavy Missile Launcher I Heavy Missile Launcher I Heavy Missile Launcher I Heavy Missile Launcher I Heavy Missile Launcher I Heavy Missile Launcher I Heavy Missile Launcher I Empty Slot
Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I Stasis Webifier I Warp Disruptor I Tracking Disruptor II Tracking Disruptor II
Armor Kinetic Hardener I Armor Thermic Hardener I Ballistic Control System II Medium Automated I Carapace Restoration
Rigs : Empty Slot \ Empty Slot \ Empty Slot \
5469 shield, 10.94/s, E/T/K/Ex=10/27/45/63 4687 armor, E/T/K/Ex=59/72/62/10 3375.0 cap, +13.78/s, -37.267/s 273.0 m/s
V cheapo setup, the tracking disruptors will cut tracking and optimal to just over 25%, if you orbit and leave your AB running even webbed a blaster boat would have a v hard time hitting you.
I have to say i'm not a fan of jamming for 1v1 combat, if they're not webbed and they can't fire back they're just gonna run for the nearest station/gate.

How about a Medium nos.
It will work at 14 km and will improve your advantage.

Umm why are you armour tanking in a drake? I've seen some impressive passive shield tanking drakes.Anyway here my setup
well here's what I use.
Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Heavy Missile Launcher II Empty Slot
Large Shield Extender II Large Shield Extender II Heat Dissipation Amplifier II Magnetic Scattering Amplifier II Invulnerability Field II Invulnerability Field II
Power Diagnostic System II/ Power Diagnostic System II Shield Power Relay IIx2/or 2xballistic control unit II I switch depending on what I'm doing
Rigs : Core Defence Field Purger I \ Core Defence Field Purger I \ Core Defence Field Purger I \
14181 shield, 152.74/s, E/T/K/Ex=77/81/75/83 4491 armor, E/T/K/Ex=59/44/25/10 3720.937162041672 cap, +10.62/s, -6.4/s

I've tried a nano-damp drake on the test server, works well.
7 heavy missile launchers (best you can get) 1 10MN MWD II 1 24KM disrupter 1 med electromag stab 3 remote damp IIs 2 ballistic control IIs 1 overdrive II 1 Nanofiber II
1 MWD increased duration rig, 1 or 2 velocity increase or mass reduction rig.
You'll wanna make sure your going faster than your opponent, going 1.5K or faster is sufficient for outrunning heavy drones too. However most of the the time I 'keep in range', its just more manageable and you get better spacial awareness.

Highs: 7x Heavy Launcher 2, or 7x HAM with good skills will work range wise
Med: 10mn MWD2, med cap booster, 1x 24km scram, 3x phased muon damps (or 2x LSE2 and ewar of choice)
Lows: 2x Overdrive2, 2x local istab
Rigs: 3x Polycarbon engine housing

because this is a thread for a solo setup & it leaves all the mids for catch and ew, everyone knows how to setup a drake for passive it's no good for solo work is it?

large shield booster/boost amp/cap injector/scram/mwd/invul(web)
mix of bcu and pdus
em/therm/kin resists rigs
not even sure if this fits but how do you figure it would work since the nerf coming to passive tanking active might be better for pvp
2x ext/2 xinvul/scram/mwd 3bcu/pdu 3x purgers i what i tend to use atm
