I'm not sure if this can be cited as a definite correlation, but I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Whenever I would run winamp, either playing or just having the process open, it seemed that EVE crashed at some point. And by crash, my whole computer locks up and I have to restart using the power button, or it restarts all by itself. I'm only guessing it's winamp because I haven't experienced a crash like that without winamp running. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this sort of thing.

I use winamp almost every time I play EVE and have never had a problem like this. I'd suggest running it without winamp running for a while (try another media player if you can't live without music) to make sure that winamp's the problem.

Yes, infact I have same issue, haven't happend recently, but it has been happening for me. I don't know if the eve-online player can't function with Winamp or what the problem is. But your not alone :)

Winamp just updated recently for me. If you dont have update notification on see if you can update it from there website. Or if you did get the update maybe roll back(at your own risk ofcourse.)

Edited by: Thommy on 27/05/2007 12:50:46 I do not have this problem and i run winamp in different ways (music from dvd, direct from hard disk and from remote sources aka stream radio).
However note that you can configure winamp's plugins (input / output) and if you are useing eve voice you must configure your input properly otherwise it may cause problems. Also it is recommended installing winamp with the minimal ammount of options you need (no cd burn plugin, emusic etc).
Also do not use special things like "music title scrolling" in the taskbar in vista as it could cause problems if you use the advanced interface.
If you do not use winamp to play video do not install video support (or minimise the options not sure if it can be disabled completely). If you do not use visualisations do not install that either (those may cause problems because some visualisations specially custom ones can be buggy).
It is best to use direct sound output incase available, to properly configure it see below.
In device: - Select your sound hardware / sound driver (example realtek AC97 audio). * make sure your drivers are up to date because if used with broken drivers and enabling hardware acceleration this will cause problems for sure.
In buffering: - try to stay with the standard settings (these should work best) * press "reset to defailt settings" if you are not sure if you changed this. Big buffers will give many problems if your computer / hardware cannot keep up with it.
In fadeout: - default settings works best * cant really harm i think to change these settings though the defaults are ok for most.
In other: - dafault settings works best * use if needed.
The most important part however is status. Here you will get a readout on how your music is performing and if there are buffer underruns. If the underruns are happening very often then your hardware has problems keeping up (this can be any source being the dvd/cd, hard disk or online media). However note that with an properly configured system and good media you would get readouts without many underruns even with playtimes of over 3 weeks incase you use good media but a few underruns don't necisarrely mean anything bad. Use the status window to tweak and see how changes affect your playback performance though standard settings are advised.
