So this is mainly for the Dev's... really I am just curious......
With Castor SA space saw all ore above kernite vanish.... We found Pirate battleships guarding our ōvaluableö kernite or lower end ores... And almost all pocket belts vanish (no big loss) So now a formerly rich "nation" now had nothing worth holding.... And yet a lot of the rest of the universe got boosts. Other systems have richer and richer belts.. ark and bis where there was only bistot ectą Better yet these belts are guarded by cruisers and frigs... belts rich in ore and all you need is drones to hold..... Back to Stainą the "diffulty" of the systems in SA space is set ridiculously high, resulting in the BS's, but the ore levels are set at or below an average 0.5 system
So my question is this.....why?
When we petitioned we were told it was a mistake... That it would be looked into... but weeks later we still have "nothing" and it's hard to see it as anything but a direct intervention by CCP because the Stain alliance was getting to powerful.
Now before the flames start... think for a moment... How would you feel if for example your corp... or alliance built a space station and then CCP changed the layout of your backyard? How would you feel?

Nah, Thirdstorm, we in MASS was very pleased when we logged in after Castor to find that the 9 belts in our HQ, which used to hold bistot guarded by 5 NPC cruisers now was holding gneiss guarded by 18 NPCs (2 of them battleships).
Or maybe not. At least we have gneiss, you don't
We also destroyed a noobship to find something interesting. The sec status in our HQ is now -0.2, while it pre-castor was about -0.75, but somehow that's enough for quite hard spawns with battleships.
I believe it's the same in Curse, Fountain and Venal though. But we're obviously the big looser in this change. Earlier we held the biggest and best region, while the curse region was pretty useless. Now we have the "worst" region and CA the best region. CA now has PLENTY of rare ore within some jumps from their bases in Curse (systems that didn't even hold bistot pre-castor now holds arkonor), while we in SA have to make many more jumps to get out into the regions where there are rare ore.
CCP justifies it by that the regions under NPC control shouldn't have the rarest ore. I guess that's valid. But it's a fact that we were hit by the nerf sledgehammer, while the ore situation for CA in fact became better with the Castor patch.

First off: "Force my friend, is violence. The supreme autority from which all other authority is derived" The regions are ours because we say so and have the power to enforce our claim.
Second: That we no longer can mine rare ore in Stain means we will now strip regions such as catch. And catch could earlier be mined by corps not in alliances, so I don't see how the **** it's supposed to make it easier for the players you talk about.
Third: During the first day with the castor patch we went out there among the new NPC battleships and started mining mercoxite and arkonor.

seems like ark/bistot will be moving about the regions/systems, so a region rich with ark/bistot might be empty next week

CCP is just trying to implement the dynamic ore system they've been shooting for since day one. Valuable ore is starting to move around, you're a big alliance, I'm sure you can keep up.

It's not a problem if the ore moves _inside_ one region, but the amount of ore stays more or less the same.
Now it's only stain that has been hit hard. That's this time, if they move the ark from region to region it could be any alliance that gets hit. Moving ore's from region to region is a no go, it eliminates the need for long term territory control.
Build station for 10bil isk in esoteria region, 1 month later they move the ore out of the region. 10bil = 0isk now.
You all can say it's just us from SA whining now, but keep in mind, it can hit EVERYBODY have fun ;)
P.S: would be nice if hellmar or tomb could comment on that topic. will ores be moved inside regions or from region to region? |

The minerals in Curse itself maybe even worse then Stain we are just able to mine in a lot more regions then Stain is. Sounds like your whining because you don't get your ores on a silver platter anymore.

Stain
Stain is the place that the last remnants of Sansha's Nation call home. This raggedy band of conditioned cyborgs is still a threat to anyone that ventures into their territory and they have been known to roam outside Stain every know and then. They don't pose a big enough threat to civilized space for the empires to stamp them completely out, but lone space farers should be extremely careful when traveling close to, or even in, Stain.
I think someone is trespassing =P
You see the truble with stain is that its not anyones to claim. Sashas minions already live there and i believe that from an RP perspective they can boot your bungs out of stain anytime.
Space that is free to claim is labeled as unsovereigned space (hence UNsovereigned).
imho stain SHOULD be to rough a place to live in. Its a pirate nation after all. If there are places like stain then why would anyone ever bother to claim an unclaimed piece of space and actually put the time and money in to make it a viable place to live?
Twist it anyway you like but right now the SA are squatting. You do not have the strenght to inforce your rule over stain. Sashas nation owns you. Just like the other empires own you. Noone has the power to claim the heart of amarr empire because the amarr empire is deemed to have a few million bships and is hence in defeatable hence the same goes for oher nations such as shasas nation.
Time to start going on long run to get your ore. Time to consider saving those chips to build stations in unclaimed territory. time to start thinking about downsizing the amount of space you claim cause i find it hard to believe that SA at its current numbers and force will be able to defend an ENTIRE REGION once SA no longer has the advantage of uncapturable stations and such...
So yeah what im trying to say is....
Get used to it! The way its looking for the future of this game is going to get alot harder to control territory in the future when you will actually have to INVEST in making territory desirable in the first place.

Same could be said of Curse but it isn't the case - NPC spawns are very much weaker in comparison to the ore they are protecting.

Ulendar, not to insult you, but get real. Why would Sansha's nation start to kick us out now, it would be ok if they would have tried it since the first corps entered stain but not now. Changing such stuff 7 months into the game?
I dunno but somehow it removes just the last single bit of motivation to claim some space somewhere.
As for why we didn't complain when it was allegdly in our favour: 1) i didn't know 2) if i would have known it would have been 1 more reason to defend stain
i reckon the corps took stain as their home for some reason, the only reason was the ore. Period.
now remove the ore after few months, nice.
If ccp continues like this POS will be pointless.
Region control worked like this: Corp scouts region, finds ore, good, makes it corps home.
moving the ore forces the corps to move home, is that the intention of ccp ? all the alliances should roam unclaimed space and follow the ore? |

I'm with you on this. what i said does not only apply to stain, it applies to all the claimed regions and if stain is tough then so should curse, fountain and venal although from a gamestory perspective curse should definitly be the toughest place in EVE since the angle cartel are the strongest pirate force in the EVE world right now.

Yeah i know it bites. Sashas nation SHOULD have been resisting those who try to claim stain from the very beginning, they should have tried to force you out and NO CCP should not take away stains ore and make people leave that way. Sashas nation should have been a faction since the very beginning of the game. If you mine their ore, they come kill you (spawns in belts) if you kill them then you take a faction hit against them and get a faction boost with concord and other 'good' nations. If you faction with either of sashas corporations drops to low then trouble arrises, npc will be more devoted to killing you, staion sentries owned by that faction would fire at you, you pay higher refining fees, docking fees...eventually become declined on dock ing requests ect.
Yes Sashas nation should have been resisting since the beginning and to change it NOW when everyone has gotten use to it is dead wrong.
Unfortunitly CCP took a very very long time to get the faction stuff right...in fact its not completely implemented even now after 7 months of gold status.
Has CCP insured that these basic faction stading system worked correctly then we would not see this discussion AND maybe stain would still have its rich ores (although one could argue that sashas nation mined the place out a long time ago). There would have been a reason to maitain good standing with pirate factions in the game just like there is a strong reason to maintain good standing with concord and navy factions in the game. Halas it isnt so. Weve seen CCP change things everyone had gotten use to and DEPENDED on ever since the start of EVE, i think they will continue their trend now.

I wrote this in another thread, and being lazy today I decided to copy and paste: ----------- As for SA claiming that all the ore has been removed from their space. Well guess what I dare anyone to find anyone who can find anything above hedgerbite in a system with a station in Curse. We at CA have always made several jumps to obtain the rare ores. This is still true after Castor. As for SA, they had bistot roids that existed in the same system as a station. This undoubtedly led to a state of gluttony most people can only dream of. I recall on a few occasions where people from SA created threads saying they were quitting because they were bored of mining bistot in their battleship with 8 miner II's. What happened post-castor was merely a return to the norm from what was clearly an exceptional situation. The current problem is that you need to go to the other regions to get the rarer ores, and Stain does not connect to as many different regions as Curse does. So the people in Curse have somewhat easier access to rarer ores (you still have to go several jumps from a station). However, Stain still reaps the rewards of being relatively isolated region with only one access point. It is much easier to close the region down to the undesirables. ---------------
Now responding to specific points mentioned here:
1. Which dev said that the ore distrubition in Stain right now is a mistake? I didn't see that in the CSM, unless Calvert has a different line of communicaion with the devs that none of us know about.
2. Curse is not, and never has been, richer in ores than Stain. Someone in Stain mentioned gniess in the same system as a station. I haven't found anything in Curse above hedgerbite, station or no station.
3. In reference to point number (2), Curse was the last npc territory to be claimed because it had so many access points and is difficult to control. The upside of this is that we have relatively easy access to several 0.0 regions (with no stations though) with precious ores. You see there is a clear trade off there. Moreover, the arkanor in the regions surrounding Curse is more than just a 'few jumps' away. Your people should know that seem they take great pleasure in harassing our indies. We were better suited to take advantage of the new ores because pre-castor we were already mining bistot 20+ jumps from a station. Those living in Stain on the other hand are used to the silver spoon. Stain on the other hand can be guarded and controlled pretty well from a single system, DSS-EZ. So the downside of that is access to other regions is limited. That is another trade off. To return things to the way 'they used to be' would be a farce.
Once again I feel the need to repeat that from my testing on Chaos, the Sansha pirates seemed to be far less superior to the Angel Cartel. I myself do not engage the npc's and ninja mine, leaving when they show up. I still collect enough resources to make it worthwhile --------------------------- (c) Copyright Saladin, 2005. Also when it was stated that the ore would be moving around, it wasn't because CCP were going to take the existing ore.
I expect the ore will stay there right up to the point you mine it all out. The bit that moves around is the oer respawning. So if you want to keep Bistot in a nearby system, just prevent anyone from mining it. ----------------------------------------------- IĘm not schizophrenic... ThatĘs my alt

That we "are used to the silver spoon" is very incorrect. Very few guys could visit our HQ, but in those 9 belts there that once held lots of bistot, you had to look hard to find a roid at all pre-castor.
We had completely stripped it so hard that the baby roid problem there was far worse than any 1.0 system in empire space. That's right, we strip mined it, even the Scordite and Veldspar hardly respawned at all (though that of course made it easier to chain NPCs when there were no roids in the belts, only NPCs guarding empty space).
So we're also used to mine rares away from stations...

I have nothing but respect for Stain Alliance for the knew what they wanted in the beggining of the game, they got rich very fast and made a name for them selfs.
But the game was also getting stale, some places had by far the richest mineral fields while others had almost nothing, so changes needed to be done as did happen.
We had several alliances that got richer by the minute, they had nothing to do but to mine, hunt NPC and attack other corps gor fun, no goals what so ever.
Now alliances have to fight each other to gain access to the best ore and that will make the game much better since it now gives them something to do, power struggle all over the galaxy and allainces will fall and anothers will rise.
So I think its all good, not "fair" but fun. Spawn of the Devil

I've never been to Stain or seen your one way in sector, but if the Devs were to re populate your fields with rare ore, wouldn't you be just as afraid of one of those unseen gate building crews deciding to make another warp in point somewhere else in your region.
Then there's the elusive Jump drives that the Jovians "probably" used, I said probably only becuase it seems that ship jump drives were produced after the introduction of gate technology.
With the advent of Castor ships warp in "cloak mode", what if an entire gate structure could be cloaked, kinda like the possible gate between the four empires and Jove space, there must have been a gate there at one time, anybody in stain see any destruction from left over gate pieces, In my limited travels I've seen chunks of stations and destroyed gates.
Be careful of what you ask for you just might get it.
Stop griping about server instability and go buy an EVE mug!
Additionally with the purchase of each mug you will receive two(2) invisible Elves.

I couldn't disagree more. If the universe is to remain entirely static things will quickly get boring. Changing things like this will keep player on their toes, and having NPC factions organize counter-offensives and such would seem reasonable enough.
The problem is that there is no reason behind it this time. The proper course of action, IMO, would have been to issue "leaked" newsreports about DED officials hinting about pirate concentrations about to reclaim asteroids belts, etc, to give people time to prepare.
Then again, having people know what is about to happen is a luxury that perhaps shouldn't be all the time either. It's not like every Pole knew Germany was about to invade in '39, for example, and could prepare for it...

such drastic changes don't encourage anyone to go to 0.0
I bet most of you guys who call us whiner hide in empire space and whine all the time how all the alliances control all 0.0
1 thing is for sure SA will not give up stain, we'll just mine in esoteria, we were doing that pre castor anyway, with the babyroid problem.
as for ppl suggesting alliances should roam, that's just not possible with current game mechanics, or do you want to move 3-4 bs every month? and all your other assets? no? ok then please don't suggest it's ok to move all the ore from region to region.
CCP should give every 0.0 region some base ore respawns that when mined out spawn in the same region, but a base amount of rare's stays always in the region. You need that to make it viable to own space. |

First of all sorry that I replied so late but RL issues got in way.
U ppl that are complaining about ore changes think of it like "a dynamic universe", u heavily mined the belts for a long time and now there are no more of that ore! (Realism)
Ore is like oil in RL, it depletes over time. What do countries without it do? Find solutions to the problem like "the fuel cell tech" and thus adept to the situation.
Try to make use of the stuff that u still have. In RL if I had the ability to make use of toxic and/or radioactive waste I'd be a VERY rich person by now!
