It seems that another character owned by this account, Kareal, is training the skill Learning. Only one character can train a skill per account. To rectify this, exit the game, log on to Kareal, and stop training the skill.
Thats what it says
Funny thing is, its an alt plus im trying to get her to learn mining
Any ideas?

Exactly what it says: You can only train one skill per character per account at a time. So if you want to train mining on your alt, you need to stop training of learning on Kareal first.
You'll find that most people who train up an alt for whatever reson (hauler, refiner, miner etc) alternate training time between the 2 characters. It gives you character and skill flexibility, but reduces the overall skill potency of your main.

I really think it's about time this was reviewed.
How about allowing alts to train but at different rates .. i.e. You can set 1 char to train at 100% speed - 1 at 50% and 1 at 30%. Or something like that.
As it stands - if you're serious about your main char then training is a rare option for alts.
Anyone around from beta who can explain the thinking behind the current set up?

Well, looking at you standard MMORPG, you gain experience points as you perform certain actions. Now, in so doing, you can only advance one character at a time, as you other alts are not logged in, not doing anything and therefore not earning XP.
Such is EVE - you can only have one character earning XP (i.e. training skills) at any one time.

True, but in other MMORPGs levels get harder and harder to gain the further 'up' the ladder you get.
Also, other MMORPGs allow you to max out your character stats. This means you should be able to have a fighter char, crafter char etc.etc.

Yes: I'll give you an example.
When I was staying with a friend a few months ago, we thought we'd be clever by just buying one copy of EVE and using the single account for both of our characters. When we realised we couldnt train skills simultaneously I had to go and buy another copy to use on my friends [single] computer.
So if I hadnt had this problem then CCP wouldn't have recieved ú30 of my money, nor the monthly subscription I payed.

I'm not a beta player, but I was told that there was an exploit found that under certain circumstances it was posible to train 3 skills on your main character at the same time, hence the reason for the single char only. But then again I could be totally wrong on this...

Not at all, I've heard on two separate accounts of people training two skills at the same time, first a cult members about a month ago, last Ganja just yesterday.
No it's not like he was hiding it, asking in Help Channel what was up with it...

I'm in the process of doing this - but I still want to train multi. I'm also gutted that I can't transfer chars across accounts

It keeps people from making alts with skill to grief and spy with then delete and train a new one. It keeps supercharacters from being created that have nver actually done anything and last it increases revenue for CCP since many people have two or more accounts to circumvent this and or play on more than one machine at a time.
I like the 100%/50%/30% idea. People could actually make usefull alts and there is still a penality for using an alt vs a main. But I'm make it 90%/50%/30% so your main character is going to also take a hit if you are training alts.

I use my main chacter 90% of the time but sometimes my main chacter gets traped due to blockades and thus I log into my alt in order to enjoy eve while the area clears out arund my main.
Also sometimes my main is on the oposite side of the universe where I want to pick something up quickly so i log my alt that is over in that area. It would be nice to be able to train my alt even at a reduced rate just so i could have decent skills. I wouldn't even mind if you could train skilsl up to level 2 or even possibly 3. But no higher unless my main was not training.

I just use two accounts, I'm used to having multiple game subscriptions, so it doesn't bother me, I just have to figure out how many game subsciptions I really want to pay for, not like I'm doing anything else with the money, could buy extra beer....
