Will choosing to make my ship self destruct net me the insurance money or does that void the policy? Also, do insurance rates rise if my ships get blown up a lot?

1) you get isk if you self-destruct
2) insurance rates are fixed

Why would you self destruct your ship, your going to lose money if you do, since the cost insurance is only worth the base price of the ship you would lose.

Because the base price may be higher than the market price.
I used to get It. Then It changed. Now I don't even know what It is.

Because the base price may be higher than the market price.
You will be hard pressed to find a ship whose base price is higher than its market value plus its insurance fee...

If I see somebody doing this I will petition them for using an exploit.

Yep - why allow someone to just waste their own time, when we can waste our own and the GMs Cheers Baka ______________________ Have a Skill in training every second of every day and never let your bank balance sink below your skill points. |

Edited by: Gojyu on 28/05/2007 03:36:38 I'm considering doing the this in my next few weeks. Here's a scenario when it would come in handy
1) One of your old ships (in my case, a thorax) has an insurance pay out of 7mil, but only costs 5-6mil to purchase 2) The insurance contract is running out OR 3) I never fly the ship anymore, it's just collecting dust in my hangar 4) Strip ship, Self destruct- get insurance pay out for useless ship/ship you were going to have to reinsure anyway 5) Profit

As long as you don't blow up 1000's of newbie ships to get the 1 Trit, blowing up your own stuff that you bought with isk, isn't cheating.

Don't bother, when I was alot noob'er (and when Pyerite was 4 ISK instead of 9) I found that I could buy an Incursus, insure it, and pop it, coming out 40K-50K ahead. It was better money than running level 1 missions. Just to make sure I wasn't "cheeting" I filed my own petition. Not an exploit: if someone want to sell you the ship that cheap, it is his loss, was the basic reasoning give by the GM.

Oh and by the way, the faster way to do this is to pick a fight with the sentries in hi sec. You take a one time sec hit for agro'ing. If you undock again within the 15 minute timer, you will get poped again, and the timer gets reset. You also get some type of kill rights against the sentries, as you don't get hit with another sec hit if you reengage the sentries after the timer runs out. The sentries will kill you a lot faster than the 2 minute count down for self destruct.
