Don't flame me, I know active hardeners are better, I'm training for it. I know the Vexor is better with 1600mm plates, I need Engineering 5, which is not my top priority atm. (Though it's up there.)
Vexor Setup:
High: Light Neutron Blaster II (Antimatter) x3 | Medium Nosferatu I x2 Mid: Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners | Patterned Stasis Web | Cap Recharger Low: 800mm Rolled Tungsten Plate | Small Armor Repairer II x3 Now, before you go all crazy on me - I've tested this and it works relatively well with my low skills. I cannot fit a Medium Repairer with this setup.
Drone Bay: 2x Hammerhead I 2x Ogre I 1x Hobgoblin I
Average DPS vs. a Sansha Battleship: 121.513 Average Cap before Empty: 110 seconds (Running everything but Afterburner)
Thorax Setup:
High: Light Neutron Blaster II x4 | Medium Nosteratu I Mid: Y-S8 Hydrocarbon I Afterburners | Patterned Stasis Web | Cap Recharger I Low: 1600mm Rolled Tungsten Plate I | Medium I-a Polarized Armor Regenerator | Energized Thermic Membrane I | Energized Reflective Membrane I | Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I
Drones: 5x Hammerhead I
Average DPS vs. a Sansha Battleship: 100.991 Average Cap before empty: 150 seconds
This setup I have never tried before. It is much sturdier than the Vexor but has less dps, and I'm afraid it won't be able to kill as well, especially since I cannot use MWDs yet. If this turns out to be the better setup I will train for MWDs asap. ________________________________________________

Vexor really. Just fit an afterburner and orbit out of their range, and send in the drones.

If you can fit one I can't remember if its sansha or not but I think they may drop cap boosters, in which case you can fit injectors which will enable you to run everything for longer (if you need to).

It's not good to have a setup that relys on random NPC drops. If he goes a few belts without a lucky drop, he's stuffed.
Also, he'll need the hold space for loot.

Yeah, Sanshas do drop Cap Boosters a lot actually. I could fit one on the Thorax instead of the Recharger, but the Vexor doesn't have near the Powergrid needed. ________________________________________________

Personally i would go for the thorax.. and since it is sansha why are you using thermal damage drones ??? sansha are weakest on em ^^
But i got a fitting useful for both ships
Thorax
High 5 x Light neutron blaster II
Med 1 x 10 mn mwd 1 x cap booster 1 x Webafier
Low 1 x Medium armor repari 2 x Thermal hardner ( more important than the mwd ) 1 x Em hardner 1 x Magnetic Field stabiliser
If u got the isk for it i would fitt a Auxiallary nano pump For better tank :) and if u got isk swap the cap booster for a cap reccharger and some CCC rigs... else just train up to a bc asap :P

Edited by: fullmetalpwn on 27/05/2007 15:13:13 I definitely do not have the isk atm, though my corp may help me with a few of the fittings, and if I'm lucky, the ship itself. I currently have 30m in my wallet, and is making the cheaper Vexor setup look more viable atm... but I'd much rather try something new. I'll wait for more opinions before deciding. Thanks for the input so far.
Edit: Also, about the drones: EM Drones suck. No matter what the resists of what your fighting is. ________________________________________________

probably cos thermal drones do loads of damage and em ones do almost none. plus sansha's second weakest resist is thermal, so u'll end up doing more damage ---------------------------------------------

Their EM resist is about 10% weaker than the thermal, and the thermal drones' higher damage output makes them the better choice.

@OP I'd use the vexor since drone boats are pretty versatile. As someone else has suggested you can orbit at whatever range you like with an afterburner or MWD (I prefer less than 1km for the battleships).
You may want to try an EM & thermal hardener/energized plating instead of the 2nd & 3rd small rep. They should nullify alot of the incoming damage. And get in a brutix/myrmidon some time soon, 5 ogres in the myrmi will shred the battleships much quicker.

If you live away from a station, drag a giant secure container with you. Drop it and anchor it at a safespot, fill it with Cap booster charges of your preference. Swap charges for loot as you rat, and then take the loot to empire, sell it, buy charges. That's how you get around the cargo restriction.
Alternatively, use a POS.
Next up...do you need plates? hopefully not, they don't really help your tank. Swap the plate for a CPR if possible. Upgrade the membranes to hardeners (N-types are cheap enough and use 1 cap/sec.)
On the vexor setup I would drop the plate, use a medium repper, 2 hardeners and a CPR.
On the Thorax, I would use medium repper, 2 hardeners, 2 cpr, or 3 hardeners. - - -

Edited by: General Coochie on 27/05/2007 18:18:07 I use this with vexor and it works very well. I can run everything except the AB and rep at the same time. Ive taken out multipile BS spawns in this setup. 1.5mill * 3 BS no problem.
3 light guns, 2 med nos AB, 2 cap rechargers (In my experince you dont need a web) MAR II, 2 * hardeners, 400mm plate (before hp increase 800mm was needed IMO but now it isnt a 400 plate is enough now put that MAR on and train for T2 asap, you are taking alot more damage then you have to by not using hardeners, 2 hardeners pretty much make you take 40-50% less damage.)
Keep transversal upp when you need it.

VS sansha/dark blood:
4* medium beam laser 2 or named 1* small nos or cloaking device
1* 10mn ab 2 1* named webber 1* named/T2 caprecharger
1* Medium armor repair 2 or small rep 2, if you want to run it continuously 1* EM hardener 2 or reflective membrane (membrane is probably better with good comp skills) 1* Thermic hardener 2 or thermic membrane(membrane is probably better with good comp skills) 1* 1600mm reinforced rolled thungsten
7* hammerhead 2
No ammo usage, riskfree if you use the cloak. Just get a hauler into 0.0 first and drop 1-3 huge containers (3900m3). I took down 10 mil dark blood commanders with it, just watch out for the 400k nossing cruisers, they are pretty emo on vexor cap. _________________________________________________ Breetime

Why hammerheads instead of the mix? Best DPS combo I've found to be is 2x Ogre 2x Hammerhead 1x Hobgoblin ________________________________________________
