I have had a pretty bad graphics glitch since the last big patch. Basically Ive tried to ignore it but its just really getting to me lately. The only glitch I can tell is that the sun can be seen flickering through the planets. Another issue is that the planets rings can also be seen through the actual planet as well. Its a bit of an immersion breaker for me and I have tried reloading client, even fresh reinstalling client as well as updating drivers etc and still get it. Anyone else got this issue? Has anyone figured out a way to get rid of it?

Although I'm not having the sun showing through planet issue, I am experiencing the rings showing through the planets. Not constant mind you, they tend to flicker from behind, to in front of the planet. I've adjusted every setting I have (I even turned on the advanced settings in prefs.ini) and have not been able to make this go away.
I'm running an ATI Radeon 1300 512m with latest drivers.

Have you ever noticed that the planets rotate the wrong way? The "sun" would rise in the West.

Edited by: Tyeson on 12/06/2007 05:20:47 I too am receiving this graphical glitch since the last major patch. I ensured several times that my directx and graphic drivers are up to date and installed correctly. I've also tried chaning different graphic options to no avail. Any news on this? There are alot of planets with rings in the system I am mining in atm and it is highly irritating.
EDIT: Nvidia 7950GT Same issue on my wife's computer. She has a 6800 Ultra.

Edited by: Tyeson Rai on 13/06/2007 07:00:24 Any chance to get an update on this long overdue issue? (I've been told that this was a recognized issue after the Kali patch)

Here is an update on this issua I found buried in the patch notes for revelations II. It is the 5th section up from the bottom.
Graphics * The background stars in space cause a significantly lower drop in FPS. * The 'star' effects of planets and moons (and suns) on the solar system map view have been removed. * The strip miner effect no longer persists on the solar system view. * Flashes from Citadel TorpedoÆs when they explode have been toned down. * Some stations have had their exit point moved to reduce/prevent ships getting caught on the stations during undock. * Sun is now occluded by planets, which removes the flickering effect experienced sometimes when a planet was placed between the sun and the observer. * The graphics for planets that had rings has been fixed so that the rings are now displayed properly. The graphics corruption present at the edge of some planets, depending on where the sun is relative to the viewer's angle, has also been fixed.
Thank you CCP! Glad to see this aweful graphics bug fixed. (Let's hope it works )
