Edited by: Scorpyn on 09/01/2004 20:06:10 I believe it's related to this thread.
I sometimes get the "The connection to the server was closed" message too, but not at the same time as the other message you got and not at logon (always when I've already played for a while).

Yup Same prob here to. I just get into the game then get dropped wit the connection to server has been closed message. Can't even stay on long nuff to start some new training. I am also awaiting a reply from the GM's after sending a copy of my logs and tracert file. Have already tried all the empty cache, Latest drivers, re-install etc.. but nothing works. I have been playing for nearly 3 months with no probs then suddenly last fridat (16th Jan) I got dropped from the game with "Connection Lost" and havent been able to get on since.

Ditto here. I can't even get on long enough to shoot of a petition. What kind of company doesn't have a link to send them an email with techinal problems? I've been all over the site and couldn't find it. The only way to send them petitions is through the game. Not to bright.
CCP needs to straighten their act up!!!!!
I'm getting very annoyed at the amount of errors I'm recieveing, and from only 2 weeks of playing!!! It's worse then Dues Ex 2!!!
(the more exclamation marks there are refers to how annoyed and angry I was. As you can see I calmed down from 5 to 3 by just writing this damn message.)

You CAN send a petition via web. Check the "Support" Link from the left menu, then go to "My Questions".

Same prob. as Spiro Skraelig here. I have been playing since July 03 with no problems, until the 16th Jan 04 that is. have not been able to get on for more than about 2 minuets usually only for a few seconds. seems we are not alone many people appear to have the same problem. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=9215 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=54209 http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=54282
So far I have:
- re installed latest ATI Drivers
- flashed firmware on just about everything I can flash.
I am getting the feeling this is not a pc problem.
Hope CCP come up with something soon.

I had the exact problem. It seems to be solved so far tho. I am a network engineer and believe me when I say I tried everything. What was more weird is that on the comp next to me, my wife was playing fine. Her PC is similar in configuration to mine, but not identical. I could even log my toon oh her PC so it's not account related.
What I finally did is take out one of my 512Mb chips (I have 1GB RAM fitted). The game stopped crashing and I could play just fine. The chip is not bad tho, I ran a lot of memory tests and none failed. All other CPU and graphics intensive apps and games run fine. I eventually put the 512MB chip back in, tonned down some DRAM specs in BIOS and now I can play once again the game, with both 512MB chips in.
I really doubt the BIOS change was the solution, because I played EVE with those settings for 1 month with 0 problems. To be honest, I have no idea why it works now. I can only guess that they did something to EVE, server side, that started to conflict with *something* from my PC.
Anyway, I can play now .. *knocks on wood*

People still having this issue? I know I am. I would be interested if we all put our specs up so we can compare.
I have a P4 3.o Ghz HT processor with a 1Gb of winky PC 2100 ram. I have a ATI 9600, patched correctly and running well under WinXP home.
I am running eve 1360.
Anyone else?

I still have the problem with my laptop
Its a P4 2.4 intel, 512mb ram, ati mobility
Looking at Log server logs i cant find anything to say its a driver problem. It works fine on this PC (amd 1gig, 768mb ram, gf2mx)
It sucks i just bought the game 2 days ago and the only PC that can login isnt good enough to make an enjoyable experience

I am having the same problem. I hadnÆt done anything to my computer but starting on Sunday 1/18 I cannot stay connected for longer than 5 minutes, most time for more than 2 minutes. I keep getting the ôThe connection to the server was closedö message. Since I have played fine on this computer since June of last year and have not changed anything I am lead to believe that the problem is not on my end. Funny thing is that my wife is running her account on a laptop also sharing the same DSL line and it is not having this problem. Nothing has changed and nothing has been installed between the dates of 1/17 and 1/18 so there is nothing I can pin this problem to on my end. I can log into my account on the laptop and it plays just fine so its nothing to do with my account.
