EVE BUSINESS WORKSHOP 101

I am now taking participants for the third session
of my "Trading 101 Workshop". Please note that I
have now changed this workshop name to
"EVE Business Workshop 101" to more accurately
reflect the scope of discussions. I am a trader
mainly, so I will work to have people from
manufacturing and research and other ventures sit
on the panel in order to provide a greater variety
of examples. Remember, this class teaches you
some basic tools and some basic concepts, but you
CAN apply these concepts to anything in business.
Fee:
This class will continue to charge a fee of
1 million isk per student.
DO NOT SEND ME THE ISK NOW.
Isk is collected after the class has started.
Why charge a fee at all?
People are funny about value. If you get something
for free, chances are you don't value it the same
as something you actually bought. It's human
nature and involves a funny part of human
psychology. Anyway, I charge a fee because I want
you to feel invested in the workshop. I want you
to pay attention, remember what happened, and feel
like that 1 million was worth every single isk. I
want you to ask questions and actively discuss
your own experiences too. Basically, the 1 million
isk fee helps accomplish this goal.

Format of the Workshop:
Total Duration: 2 hours
Voice: Ventrillo or TeamSpeak (both free programs)
Part 1: Topic driven discussion by a panel of
subject matter experts (SME's) from the
market community (duration: 1 hour)
- all voice
- 1 hour long
Part 2: Question & Answer session
- text and voice
- 1 hour long

1. Supply & Demand (concept)
2. Diversification (concept)
3. Opportunity Costs (concept)
4. Understanding the Market Button (tool use)
5. Buy Orders & Sell Orders (tool use)
6. Trading Skills (skill discussion)
5. Trading Across Regions (final lesson
Notes on the Topics:
The workshop is designed to be a progressive
experience that allows participants to reach the
conclusions contained within the "final lesson"
on their own. The topics are designed in such a
way that each one builds on top of the one before
it. In all cases, concepts do use examples. It is
stressed heavily however that people should avoiding
using these examples; they are merely used to
illustrate a concept and should not be taking as a
"how to" step-by-step process for trading.
Panel Participants:
Past participants include Ricdic, Monoxon,
Shar Tegal, and others (me too of course). The panel
for this session will be announced closer to the
actual session itself.

Small note here.
I've changed the topic list from the first two sessions based on feedback and the flow of the workshop. Previous attendees may wish to attend again to experience the "new and improved" workshop.
I'm still conducting a few experiments in the market before I finalize a draft for the 201 outline (to say nothing of the outline for 301)

The bar will be manned by no less than 150 exotic dancers (each in charge of a different alcohol) with 10 of them being dedicated to "shaking" martini mixes.
Also, as a refreshing change of pace, instead of you paying for a drink, we pay you for every drink you have!

bah 0100 eve time? that is like 4AM in the morning for me :( Can you offer a recording/transcript for some price? I really want to listen to this but there is no way I can attend it at that hour.

I'm trying to arrange a euro-friendly session. Stay tuned.
I do not do transcripts or recordings. I don't have a huge problem with anyone who attends the workshop and then posts about what happened or posts pieces of a chat log or records the voice component; I'm just not going to be the one to do it. It's a policy of mine.

Everyone who signed up in the thread for the last session was invited into a channel. We had about 13 people total last time. The session before that had 11. So far, no sessions have been canceled.
I'll announce a channel and mailing list soon. Gotta update it since I changed the name of the workshop.

We'll see about getting a Euro-friendly chap to run one. It's a goal of mine but right now in the early stages it's simply not practical for me to hold a Euro timed workshop.

It's a standing wish for me too, but if you won't be able to make it, the US traders will probably outsmart the european ones. I think that is the whole underlying idea with you not doing a ETZ workshop; to make US beat EU in trade!
Seriously though, thumbs up for playing with a son and a wife, I think I'd die if I had to take care of a family AND Eve at the same time.

The trick is to teach the kids to mine for you. A couple of summers ago my nephews came and stayed with me for a couple of months. They were 7 & 9 and to them mining Veldspar with Armageddons was a great adventure. They mined a ton of minerals and had a blast but for me it was a better deal! Kept them quiet, they got to have fun and kill things (npc's in .8 belts), and I got free minerals!
A win - win - win situation for all of us.

My sincere apologies everyone.
The worst case scenario happened today, I had to stay late at work with almost no warning and with no chance to communicate it. I'm a consultant in RL (not just IG) and my hours are often pretty hectic, which is why I schedule the workshops for 8pm my time generally.
I'll be logging in very shortly, if anyone is still around I'd be happy to hold a workshop.
Again, my apologies for the lack of warning and the tardiness.

Damn, this isn't fair, I can only get my wife to change my skill training!  I tried to get her to change my market orders for me as well but she wouldn't do it. I'm afraid she doesn't like the game very much.
