You mean WoW actually has stealth? Stealth that works as intended? Not to mention they have more people engaged in PvP (heck, whole servers dedicated to it), 24/7?
Golly, imagine that.
Yeah, there's no skill loss in WoW. Death seldom has a sting any greater than a long walk and minor repair costs. But look at what risk-aversion has done to EVE. Are we really that much better off?

Originally by: Illistar DeathWing Actually you are dead wrong. Wow has the world defense channel, that's like local chat, but GLOBAL. And people on pvp servers always say if there are enemies coming or not. It could be MUCH worse in wow, it's just that it's not as needed as in eve (because you don't have much else you can rely on to survive when not in a heavy combat ship)
The World Defense channel doesn't mean squat unless someone comes OUT of stealth to ATTACK. It also give ZERO indication if a hostile is still present in the area if they re-stealth. People on PvP servers won't say if there are enemies coming, if they don't/can't see them. Stealth in that game actually WORKS. Even getting tipped off in advance due to a spy is much harder to do in WoW, since you can't have characters in both factions on the same account (on a PvP server) AND you can't communicate in-game with members of the opposing faction.

Originally by: Chavu There's no local chat, but there is actually looking on your screen and watching your enemy come up to you.
And exactly how well does that work against a rogue?
That's not to say there aren't any counters for stealth in WoW, but for goodness sakes, they still require a bit more effort than just glancing at a gosh darned CHAT TAB.

Unless it's radically changed since I cancelled my account, um no. Local defense only tells you when a hostile ENGAGES IN COMBAT. It most certainly never used to indicate when a player using stealth or invisibility had entered an area.

Originally by: hylleX ...what needs to be done is that local should only show the number of players in local thats the fairest way i see local getting changed.
Funny, that's exactly what Oveur suggested three years ago.
