Ok, so, I'm a Caldari Pilot. We all know Caldari sucks royal behind at PvP. I've decided to train for a Sniper Eagle to PvP in. Well, thats good and all but it wont completely satisfy my needs.
Now what I'll be looking for is a close range cruiser sized ship to fight in. For the Eagle I'll be going for T2 Med hybrids, so I figure why not use T2 Med Blasters on something else!
What ship is good for this role? Methinks the Deimos is a good candidate, and maybe Ishtar? Ill train up me Drone skills to go Gallente if need be.
On a side note, how does the Eagle handle with T2 Medium Blasters? I do get nervous being that close range without drones though.
Thoughts?

The Ishtar is a tough little SOB, but it won't win very many close-range slugfests, especially not with giants like the Eos/Astarte, the Myrmidon, or the Megathron, even.

One thing i find funny with the blaster ships of caldari is that there is no problem in fitting highest tier of weapons, NOS and a full tank. not like it is on the say gallente ships. My vulture, rohk all of htem had no problems at all fitting neutrons,tank,nos and injector.
So they are easy to fit, tanks very good but their damage isnt that great. but you can outtank your enemy, so he will die eventually. but you shoudl not expect to do same damage as a demios. not even close when in gank mode.

Play around with the Ferox using blaster setups. It can be fun if you manage to get in range. I would suggest having a friend tackle (up close of course) so you can just warp on top of the enemy.
OR you can do what I used to do in my armageddon with a close up gank setup. Go sit at the center of an asteroid belt and wait for people to warp to the belt. You'll want NOS of course =P

Ok, heres the deal.
Caldari is great, period. They do not suck at pvp. I will go as far as accept that most caldari-pilots suck at pvp, mostly because they are new, and they read guides to their missions and do not think or learn themselves. I mean seriously, 90% of the raven pilots out there still got no clue what the point of explosion radius or velocity is?
However, missiles deal quite a punch, with very little SP invested. Shield tanks are more effective than armor tanks, and hybrids are one of the best damage dealers there are, considering the laser - omnitank issues. Yes, shieldtanks have a hard time in solo or small gang pvp, but.. you can go with an EW/armor-tank instead, if you wish. They also have quite a few hybrid platforms.
The eagle is quite fine, with either rails or blasters, and I would stick to one race to begin with if I were you.
As for the ishtar, dont even consider it unless you have great drone skills, the myrmid will do it better with less cost, unless you really know how to handle those drones and the ship. Deimos is a sweet sweet ship though and deals an awesome punch with blasters.

Actually, I'm having troubles fitting 4 S. Neutrons (or 150mm Rails) along with everything else on my Harpy. Of course, it might have something to do with my T2 Med Shield Booster...

Here's a hint: all the best Blarpy setups don't involve shield boosters. Or armor reps, before you get all confused. Or hull reps!
Now back on topic: The Brutix is an excellent, high-dps, cheap platform for PvP. A full gank setup will melt most things that aren't battleships, and if you meet a BS it doesn't really matter what ships you're flying or what it's setup is.

Cool guys, you've given me a lot to think about. It looks like I'll play with the Ferox some, putting blasters and rails on it. I'll dabble a bit in the Tier 1 Gallente ships, since they won't take time to skill for.
My long term goal is certainly Caldari Commandships, after I've got Recons up to a good level.

It takes lots of skills for a caldari player to tank the skills most gallente players have in their blasterships... Caldari blaster ships are pretty decent compared to our other options - but it's not likely that we intercept our targets or run away if things get hot...
Caldari close range is like placing a standard brick wall in front of a run-away truck and hope the truck will hit... Then the wall might be hard enough to knock out the truck, but the truck will most likely knock out the wall and come out the other side - pretty damaged but still there...

Yes I do. 4 nutron blaster IIs.
MWD, med injector, med tech II shield booster, web, 20 km scram.
2 mag stabs, 2 PDU II's
I think you need the 3% implant to make it all fit
put at least One em shield rig on it.
