I met Azuran (in-game name) at the beginning of high school. I've known him ever since. We started EVE together; I introduced him to it very shortly after I first joined. We profited together, we lost together. Even as we split our separate ways in-game, I still saw him nearly every day throughout my years of school. He went on to play some other MMOs, but he always came back to EVE every once in a while.
He ran his own web hosting business. He spoke fluent Japanese. He was accepted early to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was set.
On Monday night, I heard that he had died in the hospital from complications from a liver transplant. After the operation, he woke up braindead. I still don't know the full story.
He was only 17.
I went to the funeral yesterday with a few dozen other friends and acquaintances. I don't think I've ever cried more in my whole life.
Life giveth, and life taketh away. This week, it seems, life taketh away. Rest in peace, Azuran. You will be missed.

Sorry to hear about that, DS. I've lost friends too, and it especially sucks when they have so much going for them. I hope you have some good friends helping you with your grief

My condolences to Azuran's family and friends. Though I never knew him personally, seeing what an impact he had on DS's life, he must have been a wonderful person in and out of game.
Again, my condolences.

condolences to his family. losing a child is something nobody should ever have to endure.
