Have every real alliance (over 100 members or whatever) name 2 people that can vote in strategic votes governing the future of EVE and disputed issues. This idea could also give a new RP angle to the game.
Stupid idea? Discuss.

well the players could already come up with such a thing to address alliance politics, similar to the UN. while it would not affect the game on the level that CCP can, it could certainly affect territory and warfare, and forge alliances of alliances.

Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.
Take away the flying around part and you make EVE into a space themed spreadsheet application. |

NO...the game belong and are handled by CCP...
They decide alone where EVE is going....not by a governing body within game.....But by all means, if you RP a EVE councill, all power to you, just leave me out of it.

As long as the desitions stay ingame and withing a set series of dev defiined parameters. Keep the game development in Dev hands.

So we give 2 OFFICIAL votes to BoB who seem to have the devs ear already.
Not saying BOB working with the Dev's is bad, you always want your more experienced players working to improve the game (although when your more experienced players are all PvP and not miners, PvP gets an unfair buff while miners get squat. But thats another issue)
I'm just saying it would give people even MORE to whine about BoB than they already do.

The world would be worse without them. And if it's only to tell the US sometimes that it's not all about them and that other countries can speak for themselves. 
But not needed in EVE, since the game would be boring, if someone would solves most conflicts, before they lead to a war.
