As a solo pirate and pvp pilot. I find it real hard to get a lot of weak targets off of gates and stations in 0.0. This is mainly due to the fact that majority of alliance pilots only were taught how to gank in groups as well for the fact my ship and skill is overpowering to theres. So the only way to really get opponents to man up and fight to lose (being solo fights are not good examples of skill) is to fly a ship that LOOK as a default win for your opponent but in reality is a default win for me.
So in order to maybe help some of the real combat pilots out there that are generally solo by heart. Maybe there could be a new module designed that has morphing technology?
Name: Morphing Technology Description: This module when activated will morph your current ship into a pre-selected ship design. This morph is only an visual effect other than a physical ship change affect. Use this to confuse your opponents and stealth your ships hull.
There could also be branches and skills based off of this module to mimic ship hulls on scanners and etc.
This would be a good module to use to get other pilots to stop hugging gates/stations off and actually fight.

When I read the topic I thought you were suggesting a "Voltron" technology where 5 battleships (preferably of a lion design) can morph into a mighty robot warrior!

Edited by: Christopher Dalran on 31/05/2007 19:39:27 Alliance pilots mainly fight wars, that is why you will find them usually only willing to engange in groups. They have learned to work together and generally speaking their ships are not set up to be solo pvp capable, they realy on each other to collectivly have all the modules they need which allows them to respond to a wider range of attacks.
When your fighting a war its all about cost, you want to be cost effective losing as few ships as possible while putting as little possible at risk. You achieve this by setting up to work together collectivly as a team. You end up losing ALOT of ships in alliance fights so you need to use the smaller cheaper ones or you bankrupt yourself.
Once you get used to working as a team its very difficult to work solo anymore, it just seems silly. Smaller ships can take down much larger targets if you cooperate, have your ships setup corectly, and move quickly. Because wars are about being cost effective that is why you typically find them together in smaller ships as packs as opposed to isolated Battleships.
You could try employing Mobile warp Disruptors, those can be anchored off a gate so that anyone jumping in from the other side gets stuck in it. They are huge though, you need atleast a Battleship to anchor one and your almoast assured to have an attak force coming quickly to destroy it if you alone.

like a holo-projector that make your mighty battleship look like a badger? me likes as long as there is some kind of size limit...i dont want lots of apoc looking like frigs, and you cant fire when hidden...it might work and give you some 1 vs 1 again. as well as make the pirates thinks twise about attacking that lonely bestower in a low sec belt! Playing minmatar is "like going down a flight of stairs in a office chair firing an Uzi". |

Or as some people do, sit off the station in a ship cloaked, and as soon as they move off the station popem.

Was I the only one who actually thought this would be quite neat? Obviously you can't make your Titan look like a shuttle, there would have to be some constraints.
And maybe a time, and the skill increases the amount of time you can appear as another ship.
But eventually it has to wear off, but I was thinking maybe say you had an Absolution. If you turned it on, you could make it look like the T1 version, the prophecy.
Or if you had a Curse, you could make it look like an Arby. Or maybe the reverse to scare them off? would be funny..

I thought this was a joke post. you want to make a transformer mod for your ship so ppl warping into a system wont go "zomg!! machariel on gate ohn03s!!!" and fall even more easily into a trap? if you want targets to stick around pack a scram. simple. you want people to think your setup and ship isnt conducive to solo combat but it really is? now im all for combat. pvp happens. but tricking people into engaging you 1v1 when they dont have a prayer of winning doesnt take a morphing module. a bit of smacktalk in local will do it many times. in any case this module is a bit farfetched and unneccessary imo Meatwad FTW |

I think there should be a limit of ships your ship could morph into for balance reasons. I don't think it would be fair for titans to morph into shuttles for example. However, escorting indies that could morph into maybe a tech 1 cruiser would be useful for escorting ops. Maybe morphing certain cruisers into mining barges could be useful for pirate trades.
Eve is about it's technology. This should be useful for a lot of people including myself that wouldn't be to balance but add a certain uniquness to the game.
- Morph has a duration
- Morph would break on aggression of any kind
- High CPU requirements
- Mid slot module
CCP added stealth modules, why not this.

You do not need a battleship to carry a warp bubble. They come in 3 different sizes and now tech I or tech II forms. The problem with things like this is that they keep you stationary. This is not something useful for more solo tactics. Keep in mind that I for example do not sit on gates to click and point. Not that weak of a pilot ;)
