Anyone know someone from these areas that's having trouble connecting to the eve website or the game itself? There appears to be a node down (tge5-4.fr1.lon.llnw.net [195.66.224.133]). My friend just wants some confirmation that it's not just him. PLACE SIGNATURE HERE |

Edited by: Freya Feelgood on 01/06/2007 19:59:46 yes its me, i can now see www.eve-online.com through a proxy, it seems the problem is isolated to me and my friends living nearby in the wakefield area. I have been informed by virgin media that they are experiencing routing problems at the moment.

interesting you should say that, i also had a problem with the supplied modem having to be re-booted evry 2 hours. I managed to "find" another modem and then it worked fine as they refused to admit it was their problem.
I think this is the final nail in the coffin for my relationship with cable. I'm gonna get another provider asap.

How much data have you sent/received since 4pm? I know Virgin are bringing in throttling for the top 5% of heavy users between 4pm and midnight. Not sure if they've went ahead with it already though.

I'm with Virgin Media, formally Telewest Broadband. It was nice of Virgin to inform me that when they took over, they would be halving my speed, yet still expect me to pay for the service
How they got away with it is an utter disgrace, I pay for a broadband service which gets cut in two speedwise because i may or may not use more bandwidth than others, yet prior to them getting their greedy paws on Telewest and taking over, my service was 99% fine, with no slow down or any other crap.
I would change provider, but given that i live in rip-off Britain, were your choices are limited to other equally ******** companies out to fleece you with there even crappier services, my choices are limited

If it's BTinternet, I'm not surprised. I got a connection that was slower than a 14.4 modem but they insisted that the 2mb (fastest I could get according to them) line was working fine. I finally nailed it down after a month and found out on my own that it was their exchange that created the error. When I confronted them about it, they said I was too far from the exchange and that was what was causing the problem. That's funny cos I can see the exchange from my flat, it's 700 yards away. That was the final nail in their coffin. Even allowing for their postcode mistake that made them think I was further from the exchange than I was, then I could say they put in the ADSL line knowing it was not going to work.
I'm Now with Pipex for both line and 8Mb internet connection so BT couldn't even get the max speed right and they call themselves an internet provider?

Same issue here and I am yorkshire based.
I drop off at the same hop when doing a tracert to www.eve-online.com. When I tracert to the server IP, I time out at hop 6, then back on for hop 7 and 8, then drop off at the same hop as you guys.
I have also raised a petition which is being uncerermoniously ignored.

To be fair to Virgin, this isn't their issue as the problem router isn't under their control.
I have been a Telewest/Virgin customer for 4 years now and they have provided myself and everyone else I know who uses their network an almost flawless service. If you compare the amount of issues I have seen over those 4 years with any of the other non-cable broadband providers in the UK, they provide one of the best services I have ever seen in this country.

Ok to all you virgin users i have a fix to get onto the webpage and secure pages on your main computer but still no luck with the eve client.
What you need to do is open up your internet explorer and go to tool/internet options/connection/ lan connection button
once in there at the bottom were the box is type in
webcache.blueyonder.co.uk
then hit ok and close down your net, this will allow you to access all secure webpages such as eve-online and ccpgames.com all the webpages i was having trouble with.
Im am looking for a fix for the client now.
