Ok, I'm on *****-----but how plausible would it be to add a first-person-shooter component to EVE? ---- where if you entered into a space station or were able to land on planets---you could leave your ship in first-person mode. This way, you could really 'live' your character---and EVE could truly become more of an interactive experience. I guess this would be a total over-haul in the game engine/coding---OR could an add-on be used to accomplish this task? ----oh well---just a dream I guess.

Yeah, as great of a game that would make EVE, we probably won't be seeing something that cool for quite a few years to come. Trust me, I've wished for such a game for years and years. *sigh*

Terrible idea, been asked before, never going to happen. This is EVE, not DOOM. You want DOOM, go play it.

the problem is developing two totally different game modes and making them both solid and interesting it could've been cool, but it would be hell to maintain both at the same time.. plus there's also the thing about lots of people not liking FPS games
Me, I like both types of gameplay, but I bet a lot of people would quit eve if this was implemented (not that it's even a slight chance that it's going to happen).. so for me, it would be fine (as long as both gameplay modes were good)
A nice idea for people like me (and you) that like twitch based combat too fun to toy around with ideas
Edit: Btw, mods are going to edit your sig when they see it... just a small tip check out the forum rules. there's some rules about the dimension and file size of sig images

Like the others above me have stated, an FPS mode has been asked about, and the devs have stated that it's just not in the plan for EVE. They want to keep it strictly ships in space.
And as for the sigs. Here are the forum rules:
120px MAX Height 400px MAX Width 15KB MAX Filesize 30000px MAX Area
And I've come up with this handy little sig measuring tool:
Have a good day *Tosses some Tomblerones out to everyone*

I'd say a third person persoective would be nice (if I could design a whole character as detailed as the faces are now, I would like to see more than his hands), and I would also remove the "shooter" part of the suggestion. Maybe something that could be a part of an expansion pack? I think it would be great for roleplaying if it was possible to talk to people in the station bar instead of just in a chat box.

I'd like to know anyway, why would adding an FPS element to Eve cause people to leave/not join? Take a station. Could walk around, hire a room, sneak into someone's hangar ( teh 1337 thief), etc. Someone lands a Bestower full of Marines and tries to take over. Suddenly you have combat everywhere. Don't like it? Leg it to your hangar and lift off. Unload marines of your own (trade commodity atm btw ). Pick up small arms (also a trade commodity ) and fight back. Train you ship's guns on the hangar doors and blast anything coming in. Since you can just have AI do things for you (Marines fight for you instead of you AND Marines fighting something). It's not like it would be compulsory to even leave your ship is it?
It'd also open up a whole host of land based options, from using orbital/anti orbit weapons, to raiding the clone centre of an enemy (), setting up a hidden outpost with ammo stockpiles on a barren, airless moon, etc...
Where's the downside _______________________________________________________________________

Errr...go check the POTWs and other articles . You need to pass certain requirements etc to fly a ship, but in no way are you required to be Mr Feeblitis. Picking one POTW out of thin air: Bleh. _______________________________________________________________________

Lieutenant Hirakii Pirkotan was the first non-Jovian person to ever use capsule control technology.
Quote: "But how do you prevent it in the first place? I mean, was this bound to happen?" the captain enquired.
"Under the circumstances, yes. The only way to prevent this is with intense training for many years. That timeframe was unacceptable to your superiors..."
Since then, all Caldari have gone through the training needed to prevent mind-lock. In addition, when capsule control technology was traded to the Gallente, Amarr, and Minmatar after the Caldari-Gallentian war, all of the various schools included the physical training needed in the classes, and the mental training needed in the Starship Command skillpack.
