I have heard about playing eve on some of the earlier Tablets and with the new quad core tablets coming out, most notably the Transformer Prime i thought I'd buy one for all of my mobile EVE needs, but then I saw an article about the Prime and the fact that the Prime's Bootloader is Locked and encrypted... I not being a tech person have no clue what that means but from what i read it made it seem like i wouldnt be able to play EVE on the Prime... am i reading this correctly or it the Bootloader thing unimportant for my needs? |

You can't play EVE on a Transformer no matter if the bootloader is unlocked or not, there is no EVE client for Android. An unlocked bootloader means you can load your own OS or tweak things you are locked out of by the manufacturer. Think jailbroken phone.
There are a couple of decent 3rd party apps for Android like Aura and EVE Industry calculator that work alright, but they are just for monitoring things like your skills and stuff that is available from the character API, so you can see stuff, but you can't "do" stuff.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the ho's and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' and I'll look down, and whisper 'no.' |

It's not just the OS - tablets use different CPU, graphics hardware, sound hardware etc. Binary images are never going to run, and only CCP has the source code. |

Oh we are a misinformed bunch aren't we.
OP look into remote desktop apps. If they run on the device you want then you are set. Assuming you can keep in touch with your PC through wifi or 3g. |

IF anything they are using a program like Splashtop or RDP7 to remote into a desktop pc at home which is then just essentially streaming the video from their pc to the tablet. You are not actually playing anything on the tablet itself you are using a remote desktop. |

Ok i figured out what the issue was.... it was an "Acer Iconia w500 Tablet".... i saw "Tablet" and naturally assumed it would work with any Tablet.... Well come to find out its not so much a tablet as a miniature computer... oh well sorry for wasting your guy's time..... kinda disappointing though cause i was really hoping that the tablet thing worked.... that would have been epic... |

Yeah plus tablets are more expensive, so not so easy to throw at rebelious jews when needed. Threads like this generally result in anything positive.

1) Probably using a remote-desktop client on the tablet that is connected to their PC, which is running the EVE client.
OR
2) They have installed Windows on their tablet and then EVE on top of that. When you die your ship gets blown to tiny, burning pieces. There's no "corpse run", no "respawn". You're dead. That's it. You just lost everything you were flying, perhaps even your body. Worse still you may have lost the space you controlled or resources you were gathering.-áTake that away and EVE is no longer EVE. TL;DR: Fix war decs. |

I've done this with splashtop before, and now that the ui is scalable it should be even easier. The only problem I've come across is lag between pushing a button and the action and button clicks not registering. Besides that I love playing eve on my phone /tab |

Actually everyone here is wrong: Eve supports linux and linux is installable on all Android Tablets. With some tweaks eve can be run from a tablet though its very cumbersome and slow. The Transformer is ideal for this though its all about booting the device into linux rather than loading linux within android os. After linux is in its not a difficult thing to get eve running.
Sorry for the necro post. Just wanted to clarify this as it popped up in one of my google searches. |

It can be done. We have seen CCP Devs at E3 and Fanfest playing EvE on a tablet. Whether it is publicly available or not is another matter. EvE is not about PvP.-á EvE is about the SANDBOX! - CCP!-á Open the door!!! |

A windows tablet? Sure. But if you had the need and the cash for such a niche device I doubt you'd be asking here :D
An android tablet? Probably not. My killboard - http://eve.battleclinic.com/killboard/combat_record.php?type=player&name=Kessiaan |

Why would you need to use silly planetbound attempts at miniature electronics in order to control your ship? Use the neural interface inside your control capsule. |
