Ok, this is the first Burn Baby Video.
If you hate Blasterthron vids and find the typical lack of gang action annoying save yourself the hefty download time and smack authuring. If again you only like to see faction blasting then again look away.
I have called my toughest megathrons for a while "Burn Baby" this video shows what happened to burn baby 3. (renamed actually Megathron 425 -X)
If like me you find "fleet" videos annoying, and don't want to watch "Overlay Off" videos all day then heres the linky.
Feel free to post anything related to the below. *****************************************

Edited by: Dark Shikari on 07/06/2007 11:18:42 OK, it won't be done for a while as I'll be leaving before the download finishes, but I chopped off the first part of the download and analyzed it.
Apparently Tibrius used H.263, a mid-90s codec used primarily for videoconferencing at low bitrates. Not the best choice.
If you want to play it back, get FFDShow (included in the CCCP), open the FFDShow video decoding settings, go to the codecs screen, and enable H.263 (change from "disabled" to "libavcodec").
I would strongly suggest that Tibrius re-encode this video using a proper codec like Xvid, WMV9, or H.264. As it stands, the video quality is atrocious for the filesize--its nearly unwatchable without serious postprocessing. I'd re-encode it for the OP but I obviously can't improve the quality of a low-quality source.

lol, I thought H.263, was like older and thus more compatible and more distrubuted H.264 with lower CPU requirements. Guess you need to be smarter than just looking at aparent version numbers. *****************************************

Well I am re-encoding in classic WM9 although that codec has produced some trouble in the past I have a seemly slightly different version now so here goes. Problaby be up and linked in a few hours. No need to bother re-encoding Pos Destroyer. *****************************************

Don't worry, people confuse that all the time. A lot of people think H.263 = MPEG-4 ASP = Xvid, for example, which is wrong.
The reason it is called H.264 is because it was developed by the MPEG group in cooperation with the same standards group that defined H.263.

Yeah, a real pain in the a** to get running this vid but got there in the end. The fights were solid, apart from your obsessive need to orbit in your 'thron, man i was screaming at my monitor.
I wasnt going to bother to comment until i saw your last fight, holy sweet mother of you know what, that was one of the best 1v1's i have ever watched in a vid. That phoon of his was setup quite beautifully, massive passive hp, no dc or rep, couple of passive enam's prob, torps + nos, probably the most effective way to set it up post nano (apart from those EM torps he used).
I wont spoil the end of the fight as it was a marvel to watch, but mate, re-encode as others have suggested so more can witness that great scrap at the end. Is this a sig or the next line in the post? WHO KNOWS. |

Yeah, I like to orbit recently because I had not flown a blaster mega for a bit just before this one and have been in my diemos too much and other orbit friendly ships. Though I shake the habit later.
The end fight you refere to is quite awsome, the pilot was very skilled, he did have a DCII. He had a FULL tank, 3 55% hardeners (some faction to save CPU) he then had ENAM 2. So thats some solid all round resistances. Then to cap it off I guess 3 trimarks and a 1600mm plate gave him 20k+ 30k+ armour all depending on implants. The fight could have gone either way both with us making HUGE mistakes but leading to a good end. *****************************************

Been encoding all day. My dual core systems melting. There is one thing I do know, and that is WM9 is s*** or has serious issues with me. I am gonna just encode in H.264 like I should have done in the first place instead of playing with H.263. Though if your CPU is in the darkages may want to still go for the latter version. Either way the real wait is up loading to eve files. *****************************************

Well to get your video up decently fast without sucking use the following options (you can probably lower the bitrate as low as 1000 without losing much quality):
(first pass) x264 --trellis 2 --me hex --bime --merange 16 --partitions all --aq-strength 0.5 --8x8dct --pass 1 --bitrate 2000 --subme 3 --bframes 16 --b-pyramid --ref 4 --b-rdo --mixed-refs --direct auto --weightb --progress --threads 4 --deblock 0:0 -o output.mkv read_file.avs (second pass) x264 --trellis 2 --me umh --bime --merange 64 --partitions all --aq-strength 0.5 --8x8dct --pass 2 --bitrate 2000 --subme 6 --bframes 16 --b-pyramid --ref 4 --b-rdo --mixed-refs --direct auto --weightb --progress --threads 4 --deblock 0:0 -o output.mkv read_file.avs
where output.mkv is your output video and read_file.avs is your avisynth script which should look something like:
Quote: DirectShowSource("video.avi") ConvertToYV12()
For a small speed boost, lower --trellis to 1 and --ref to 3. For a larger speed boost, lower --trellis to 1, --ref to 2 and --subme to 5 (subme in the second pass only). For a small quality increase and small drop in speed, raise --subme to 7 (subme in the second pass only). For a slightly higher quality increase and large drop in speed, raise --ref to 16 and --subme to 7 (subme in the second pass only).
If your x264 version doesn't have the AQ patch, remove the --aq-strength line.

That would be because for some strange reason Chribba's server load is very low right now:

Well if he's not going to do anything I'll try re-encoding it in some really low-quality H.264 (though it won't be any lower quality than the starting video...). At least it'll be 10x smaller.

I've finished re-encoding the video, you can find it here.
Its somewhat resized and not as small as I had hoped ("only" down to 180MB from over 500MB)--H.264 is not very good at compressing video that already has really bad artifacting and blocking. I ran a deblocking filter on it before I encoded it so the quality should actually be better than the video in the original post.
Obligatory instructions:
You'll need the CCCP (codec pack) or VLC (standalone player) in order to play the video. Also note you need a pretty fast computer to play it back without stuttering. If your computer is too slow to play the video at full speed, download this codec pack and install *only* the included CoreAVC. If you have the CCCP or FFDshow already installed, disable H.264 decoding in its video codec settings to activate CoreAVC.
