I finally after 2 months of running missions, found a NPC pirate who acts somewhat like a PvP. Of course he is not close to a human run pilot but this is the first time I found a named foe. Zor i think, that is actually fitted his ship properly.
He was in a raven and literally he launched cruise missils, over 145km range, at 1 second intervals. He was so far outside my range that I had to warp out twice as my armor dropped to 25% with LAR running full bore.
I was able to rip apart his cruisers and frigates in 2 waves but the constant hammering drove me nuts. He finally fell to a combined assault of 5 ogres, my domi blasting away and the late arrival of the son's drake battle cruiser.
I give it mostly to the son's drake. He hammered him badly before I ever got into range for the drones and rail guns to fire away.
Overall this has been the toughest mission in the lvl 4 range I have had in 2.5 weeks of running lvl 4's.
I wish we had more properly fitted NPC rats to fight against.

Dual rep domi, cap injection and warden drones. then kill Zor first. The mission interesting, but not that difficult, if you know what you are doing.

Glad to hear that you are enjoying your missions
Zor will appear in 2 different missions - The Right hand of Zazmaatazz and The Damsel in Distress. You will probably find him easier next time if you tank for Thermal as he launches Cataclysm cruises.
Let us know how you get on when you meet Rachen on Vengance

I did notice that and plan on doubling up hardners for him next time and just take the hits from the others as they come.
Now I have got sentry drones now and the skill is to lvl 3 but I really have not seen too much benefit from them during a mission.
How do you use sentry drones to their fullest capabilities?

Sentrys are great for missions without insta aggro.
Try fitting 2 Drone link augmentors in highs and 2 Omidirectional tracking links in your Mids.
Wardens hit at over 85km.

Edited by: Swift Wind on 07/06/2007 16:51:51 He he, ran that one last night in my rokh.
We had quite a bit of fun, but then my guns hit out to 170k or so. So we setup 250k off them (had a logistics ship running my tank, remote sensor boost, remote tracking link and cap boost) cruisers were gone by 130k, escort BS next, Zor never got close enough (45K) for the vespa IIs to engage. :)
Good Mish.

naa zor is a kitten. if i remember rightly, the mission is an encounter and not a deadspace. so if you find yourself massivly distant from anything, try and get 150km away from something like the beacon and "warp to within" on that. i used it very effectivly with my raven and harb. Raven warps in and turns and burns. when its about 140k from the rats i could warp my harb in and then warp to within x of the beacon or other large object. that put my harb smack bang in the middle of the rats and in perfect range of the pulses.
there sohuld be more tactical use of the warp drive i feel.

With Lv4s it's always a matter of the right tactics and setup. Find the right setup and you'll have no problems. Get the wrong setup and your in trouble.
I almost lost a T2 fit domi last night to Blood raider NOS. I didn't have a cap booster or energised plates, so as soon as I ran out of CAP I had zero tank. lucky I wasn't warp scrambled.

Zor tanks worse then my untanked mach. Granted the damage he does is considerable but it only takes like 4-5 volleys to kill him as his tank is like wet paper. Like all mercs I suppose, no tank lots of gank.
Now Rachen is another thing, he has no gank but takes long to *****.

I haven't done "Right hand of Whatever" yet but I faced him twice in "Damsel" and I didn't see anything special. He was worth a half million in isk but I took him down in about 20 seconds.
I made him my personal byiatch.

Zor is a *****. Last time I did Damsel I warp straight into the middle of them and wtfbbqpwned them before I even noticed. If you get in close, take him out, then work on the rest you'll be fine. Most of them are turret ships, so the fact you're right on top of them limits the damage you take from them whilst getting Zor, which means your tank lasts longer.
Rachen is a ***** as well. I was expecting a good 15 minutes to kill him, given what I've read, but in the end it only took my 5 t1 meds and 1 reload of cruises to kill him.
Now I'm in 0.0 and ratting with torps, I wish I'd ignored absolutely everyone on this board and flown a torp+2 TP Raven, it's far, far, far, far more effective than my t2 cruise, and I'm only at torps 3.

Got Zazzmatazz as my first L4 combat mission. I beat it in a Myrmidon with a DCII, EM/Kin/Therm hardeners, 2x Armor Rep II, lots of cap 800 charges, and a drone bay full of Hamerhead IIs. The trick was staying out of the range of the support ships, and sometimes letting the drones take aggro. Definitely not the most efficient setup, but it can be done.

Anyone got any tactics for using an abaddon? i know ravens can wtfbbqpwn zor and friends, but using lasers and not having native decent kinetic resists might present more of a challenge...
and please, no "sell it and get urself a raven lol" replies

Zor has normal resists, which means Therm is a good all rounder. So with an Abaddon, maybe switch to Multifreq + MWD? Get in close and bbq him?
I've not flown Amarr in years though, not sure I'm afraid.

tbh i usually decline this one because its a pain with an abaddon. if you really have a penchant for painfully slow missioning, fit tachs, stay at range, swap in multifreq (should hit to 30-40km for full damage iirc) and pound away, all the while realizing that using tachs has gimped your tank due to having no grid and is eating your cap away like nos [/whine] Meatwad FTW |

Edited by: ElanMorin6 on 16/06/2007 21:25:13 This one used to take a little strategy to beat, but with invention pushing down T2 prices and the introduction of rigs it became quite the pathetic mission.
On my domi: 2x LAR2, 2x T2 therm hardener, EX hardener, KN hardener, DCU II, 2x CCC rigs, nano pump rig, and 5x cap recharger II's. You can perma-run boths reps pretty easy (1 heavy NOS will do the trick if your skills are lacking). Last time I ran Zazz I warped in at zero, aggro'd everything, including the 4 scrambling frigs that don't initially aggro to keep them from targetting my drones. If I had sat there and done nothing else, the whole spawn gang-banging me would have broken my tank eventually, but it would've taken hours. As it is, after killing 2-3 ships of any size they were unable to break my tank, and Zazz and his boys were long dead before my Domi was ever in any real danger.
Edit: yikes, the forum's vulgar word filtering needs an update.
