What is the best/easiest/quickest way to align for warping.
Do you do it manually (click in the appropriate direction)?
Do you start to warp, but then stop after you are aligned but before you actually warp?
Is there a click-and-select option that I've somehow missed?

Edited by: Berand on 07/06/2007 19:52:17 The easiest way is to just find your warp point on your main screen, then double-click next to it to get moving. If you can't find the icon easily on your screen, try clicking on it in your overview. Once you highlight it there, it will have an identifying tag on your main screen that is easier to look for.
There is no automated way to do it, and if you warp/cancel, it's possible you miss the cancel and waste time warping back and forth.

Add stargates to your overview.
Click on the stargate in your overview
Move the camera until you find the highlighted gate in your display
Double click just above it. Your ship will align nicely.

Something for me to test tonight, but if I do that while cloaked (either at a stargate, or using a cloak), will it uncloak me?
I'm mainly interested in the stargate thing.....if I can align for warp before the default 30s cloak runs out and then warp out quickly it might help if a gate is camped. Any sort of movement cancels out the stargate cloak, so that won't work. A cloaking device you fit to your ship will work just fine though, as movement doesn't interfere with the cloak.

However, if you have one of the cheap cloaks on any old ship (instead of the Cov Ops cloak on one of the specialized ships that can fit it), your movement speed is severely reduced, like being webbed. You have to decloak before you can warp, and at that point you now have to speed up to 75% of your normal speed before warp will engage. For frigates, no big deal. For Industrials, takes a precious couple of seconds.

Find the point in space, double click next to it, put your speed to the 3rd bar and after your ship accelerates to that it's insta-warp. Sometimes when I can't find object in space, I initiate warp to it and see which direction my ships starts turning, then I position my view to locate this object, double click, speed up, warp upon command.
