Papa/Zrak is it possible to spawn temporary LCO's (Large Collideable Objects) yet for missions?
Is there a solution for setting spawns around planets yet?
Finally: are the sequential missions coming anytime soon Ö ?

Nice idea about spawning LCO's for agent missions, would be nice to have a bit of scenary to fight evil Kruul in .

Kruul's probably the poorest victim in all EVE, falling in love to a girl who's dad has enough cash to hire half the galaxy to get his lil girl back over and over again ...
I agree though, it's a nice idea. I'm waiting for more complicated missions, that might take alot longer, involve more then one station and persons that needs to be spawned for it.

We've decided rather than to spawn temporary LCO's, we'd rather spawn persistent LCO's and make the system locate said LCO's.
That's what the scenario missions do. More will come there. We've got a bunch of "empty scenarios" waiting to be deployed as well, which would be excellent sites to encounter Kruul and the likes.

I have just signed a contract with Kruul do deliver him 1000 fresh clones, I wonder why he needs that many
I support Drak's idea. Eve needs more mission variety and LCO's would be something nice. ______

1000... so when is your next delivery to him? I'd say 24 hours after you deliver them....

Edited by: Uhlan on 13/01/2004 16:21:45 The problem with persistant LCO's is that they will become camped by players in low security systems. I thought you were basically against the harvesting of NPC's and this is frequently a tactic done at the current LCO's. The temporary LCO's avoids the camping but provides the enjoyment of unique missions.
However, they are beautiful eye candy! |

Indeed, am quite surprised the Aunenen mission point isn't being camped yet. :s

Yeah permanent LCOs in low-sec systems are inherently dangerous... would be nice if rewards could be tailored to suit route through to or at such systems but i dont think they system can do so?

I second the 'no fixed position' stance.
I hate the scenario missions for that very reason. The ones I have to go to are always in Low-sec, and they're all fixed places everyone knows about. Combined with the fact that scenario missions only pay cash (and low amounts at that), have timers that are half the time impossible to do (somehow those pirates are faster than a Vigil with 2 MWDs), and don't vary at all (i tried killing different orders, failing, waiting around, etc). It rates right above mining missions for suck factor. I mostly reject them now unless I'm worried about faction. -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |

Fix Scenario places are very nice for PKs... They could wait there all the time for mission runners :((

Persistent orbiting LCOs?
i.e., the LCO is always there, however it orbits around whatever it is set next to, if nothing, then the sun. Some things like planetary/lunar dust clouds already orbit, if the LCOs orbited, there would be no issues with camping...
Though... To keep your ship from not orbiting with the LCO, would the whole grid system around the planet have to orbit as well?
Temp LCOs or Orbiting LCOs, those are pretty much the only options.

Persistent LCO is a bad idea. Apart from turning into a camping ground, there is also the possibility of multiple players being sent to the same location at the same time. This had happened to me in a scenario mission yesterday. The other player arrived at the mission point earlier than me (I had to do 7 jumps to get there) and got the datasheet. As there are a lot more player doing missions right now, persistent LCO is just going to cause problem. Please do the right thing and use temporary LCO. |

My local LCO is PC pirate camped now. Oh well. I'm sure someone else will pay me to go blow up caldari navy just as well. -- TomB: End the speed-race. 1 propulsion mod allowed, make turrets affect ship attributes like +speed/+ab speed +agil for progressivly smaller/lighter turrets, -speed/-ab speed -agil for long-range. |
