Edited by: RichThugster on 08/06/2007 14:11:23 Ive had a 7600GT since christmas but have only recently got hold of a second monitor, and the dvi-VGA adapter needed to run it. Ive got a 17" tft and a 17" CRT side by side. Ive gone through the setup wizard and have them setup on "span mode" so basically its like one big long desktop, running at 2360 by 1024 which is great.
when running eve i get resolutions of 1024 by 768 and then straight upto 2000 by 768. I want to run 1280 by 1024 so i can run 2 accounts and fill each of the screens with a single account. Thats the first issue of how to make eve change from the settings it gives me.
Second issue is something which has just started happening after running it for about 2hours. Ive checked the temperature and its around 57 degrees which is about normal. Basically whenever i launch either client it loads find in 1024 by 768 and then after clicking in space or just randomly (past character selection) it pixel-ates right up, and goes to like fullscreen mode, but the mouse doesnt point to the right locations, its as if its still in windowed. Really wierd
any help welcome, and thanks in advance

the main issue im having is getting the accounts to run at the desired resolution. the other issue is something which could possibly be fixed by the first issue

I think you should be using "dual view" mode instead of "span", that way you can set each screen to the resolution you want and you'll still have the normal resolution options in the eve client. I don't have 2 accounts but I use 2 screens all the time, 1 for playing and 1 for surfing the net.

Edited by: Dread Executor on 08/06/2007 17:45:57 Step 1) Set both eve clients to windowed mode
Step 2) You can change which resolutions Eve displays in the menu by selecting a different graphics adapater. I.e. there is a dropdown box that should said "Nvidia 7600GT", and in that dropdown box there will be a -second- entry of the same name which should offer you the resolutions of your second monitor.
Step 3) Go download this http://eve.grismar.net/evelauncher/
Step 4) ???
Step 5) Profit
Both Eve windows should be running in windowed mode so no fullscreen/alt tab/graphical issues.
Make sure you move the correct Eve window to the correct monitor to match the res.
You'll know what I mean when you get Eve Launcher in.
Edit: and yes don't use span, you want the option where your start menu only displays on one screen.
Then you can run each monitor at a recommended resolution and Eve will be all nice and stuff.

cookie to the guy who said about the eve-mon setting :D
i tried the other mode (rather than span) to start with, was awesome, due to the CRT not being overly clear. However upon launching my second client, i got massive system lag, as just everything eve based slowed down, until the system locked up. Hence i stuck with span mode, which is sweet. Running eve-launcher should fix my issue if it gives you the option to set what res to run eve at.
Thanks for the help so far

OK i run eve exactly how you want on two 20" displays running at 1600x1200 each but its a ltl awkward cus of duel view. Duel view wont work due to the 2nd monitor not being fully 3d accelerated like the primary monitor.
Also when in span mode you dont get the same sort of resolution support, it will give you the supported res for ur work space without distortion so you will always get ur extra wide resolutions in eve. here is ur step by step you need.
1. start up your 2 eve accounts in duel view, do it one at a time. make sure when in window mode drag each client to your primary monitor or you will get the system lag you are on about.
2. change the resolution to what you want it to be on both eve accounts.
3. close eve and go to ur graphic options and change it to span.
4. start up eve again on both accounts and you should be sorted.
make sure you dont change the resolution of any of the accounts or you will need to go through all those steps again to get it fixed. Unless like me from time to time you wish to run one full screen for a little bit. but basically that should give you all that you need to get what resolutions you want.
Lately though due to the fact two accounts bore me a little and I want to focus more on single pvp, i just run one account on one of the mointors in duel view and work on the other. from time to time I go for 2 monitor span while playing but to be honest sometimes the gap between the monitors is more hastle than its worth, will just have to get 3 monitors so I have no split on the radial dial and all that stuff :)

duel view will always be laggy on what ever card, latest cards like the 8800 with insane memory run it pretty much ok but you will always see some slight drop in frame rate. saying that duel view works perfectly with an SLI setup cus each monitor will be set to its own graphics card but with one card duel view does not work as expected :)

Seriously thanks very much, running eve at 2560 x 1024 wasnt nearly as cool as i thought it would be, far too much head turning and really hard to look at the HUD since i have about a 2 inch gap inbetween it. Indeed three monitors would be awesome, but for now ill concentrate on converting the CRT to a TFT, then maybe upgrade the gfx card at christmas.
Thanks again

I just did a major upgrade to my system, 2.9 intel core 2 (over clocked to 3.5 currently) 2x 8800 ultra KO's with 4gig of memory and a nice new x-fi sound blaster. all i need now is either 2 30" displays or the 3rd 20" to have some fun :).
I'm so glad my advice helped you that much :) I know what kind of hastle it was for me at first to get my head around the little annoinces when I was running a 6800 with 2 17's. If you need any more help or anything along these niggly graphical area's just contact me ingame or something :) Linkeh Pooh |
