So I used to pirate a loooong time ago in this game, but I ended up getting distracted by something else and stopping. When I moved into my new townhome, my two roomies started playing Eve, so I started a new character and started playing again.
Anyway, I have a question. I noticed I can now warp within 0 to gates and the like. I was curious: How has this affected the pirating game?
And a part 2: What other major changes in the game have affected the way pirating works since Ive been gone? Ive been gone just about a year.
Thanks in advance! Millajov |

There is a alot less combat ships fitting stabs, due to the penalty on them now (scan res, locking range)
There is also alot more younger characters fly Battleships, heavy missile ravens, and med gun megathrons etc, probs because new chars start with higher skillpoints and ISK making is slightly easier these days.

Aside from alot of crying ? Gate camps can still be effective, as long as you have something large to tank the other side of the gate's guns and something fast to catch the initial tackle before one of the bigger boys take over.
Sniping in low sec isn't as common anymore due to warp to zero. You can still pirate with sniper set ups but again it comes down to tanking sentry fire and still being able to lock them on the exit side of a gate instead of destroying them on approach to a gate.
Prepare for mor station monkeys as well.

Warp to 0 hasn't really affected piracy that much other than the fact that you now have to camp at the exit point of the gate instead of the entry point if you want to catch people.

Sit on the other side of the gate, duh! *smacks head* Should have seen that!
Yeah, Ive already noticed newer players in BSes, and that I can make isk quicker, and its only been about a week since I restarted. Im ok with both of those, so far.
I did see some people whining about how newer players in domis can destroy much older players in a lot of other ships. Is that just what is, whining? Or is there some truth to that?
Thanks again guys^^

Edited by: DarkElf on 08/06/2007 16:24:41 It doesn't affect things that much tbh.
For belt piracy it doesn't really change anything. Once your target has left the belt and gone to a gate you have often lost them anyway. If you're in large ships then you do lose the chase to the station and finish them off before they dock thing which i used to enjoy rather a lot.
For gatecamping it does reduce the number of kills you get unless you camp both sides of the gate but with all the instas that were about anyway it's not that bigger deal.
I think personally for the fact that it makes travelling so much easier and reduces lag it's a good thing overall for the game but yes it does negatively affect piracy to a degree.

and yes domis loaded with nos can kill a lot of bs easier than it should be in a way but still with very new domi pilots they would still get their ass kicked by most bs with a decent pilot.

And tbh 99% of the people that had nice stuff worth getting from them had instas anyway so not much has changed on the warp to 0 side of things
