The Interstellar Gaming Consortium is proud to announce the third season of its premiere racing competition, the Racing League. This season is slated to begin on June 16th.
How the League Works The Racing League consists of a series of ten bi-weekly races spread out over various regions within our star cluster. The League is further divided into four distinct classes: frigates, interceptors, assault frigates, and destroyers. Standings are recorded for registered pilots on their own behalf in individual rankings, and if apart of a capsule corporation* will automatically be entered to score in corp rankings as well. Corporate points do not transfer if the pilot changes employment. Unless banned, any corporation or pilot may participate in the races in any class at any time during the season, though it is reccommended to start as early as possible. At the end of the League, the top scoring pilot and corporation will win trophies and prizes for each class.
(*Starter corps are not allowed to register, but individual pilots from them can race)
The ten regions for this season are as follows:
Essence Placid Heimatar Metropolis Domain Genesis The Bleak Lands Lonetrek The Citadel Derelik
The region location of each race is usually announced one week in advance on the public boards, and reminder notifications will be sent out two days prior to the event via FTL mail through our mailing list, ISGC RACING. If you aren't sure how to join a mailing list, click here.
The Race On race day, The starting location will be divulged one hour before the event begins on the pre-designated racing channel Racing League. Arrive promptly, as the race may start without you if you're too late. As always, participants be required to traverse low security regions, asteroid belts, and any other celestial objects dictated by the event organizer.
Participants are not allowed to shoot their competitors until the race begins, nor are they allowed to call in support from their allies during the race under penalty of expulsion. This includes camping the starting location to kill war targets.
The racers will start each event docked at a station of the coordinators choosing. The signal to undock and begin the race will begin with the coordinator announcing the first waypoint and the password for all of the waypoint canisters. Participants will proceed to the location where a small secure audit log secure can will be located. Within each can is a bookmark location with the description of the next waypoint on the label. Each participant will take one bookmark and leave the rest. Any tampering with the cans or the bookmarks will result in the expulsion of said participant/corporation from the league.
Any number of pilots from a corporation may participate in each event and any module is legal for use. If a racer loses their ship during an event, they may purchase a ship of the same class/model they registered with to complete the race. Faction ships are prohibited from league play.
Participants are allowed to utilize whatever means necessary or take any path they are comfortable with in reaching the next waypoint. Weapons fire and destroying other participants is legal. Podding is not, and will result in expulsion. Individuals destroyed during the race are required to mail the coordinator the CONCORD killmail after the event for information purposes. |

Scoring & Race Rewards Individual racers will earn points for themselves and their corporation(if they have one) for the class they have chosen to participate in. Corporations score based on the first member of the team to finish, however, pilots are still competing against one another for the event prize and independent scores. The point total earnings for placement are: 1st - 25, 2nd - 20, 3rd - 16, 4th - 13, 5th - 11, 6th - 9, 7th - 7, 8th - 6, 9th - 5, 10th - 4, 11th - 3, 12th - 2, 13+ - 1
There will be a 1 mil entry fee for the racers at the beginning of each event collected prior to the event. The total fees distributed the following way: 50% 1st place winner 30% 2nd place winner 20% 3rd place winner
Sponsorship & Advertisement Third parties are welcome to participate by sponsoring other racers in the events by supplying them with equipment(prior to the race) or by paying their entry fees.
Corporations interested in being a sponsor for the league may do so by providing ISK or equipment as prizes for the winners of the racers. Donations can be made to either the individual or corporation season pot of any class and must be specified via eve-mail with the consent of the League organizer. Sponsors and will be advertised with every formal communication made by the ISGC organizer.
Full details on sponsorship can be found here.
Please contact myself(Gyra Rho) via FTL mail to inquire further about advertising on the Racing League.

Free bump from a season 2 enthusiast
Although I will be missing the first race (and doubtless many others as well if last season was anything to go by), I'll be competing this season. I'm not sure what ship class I'll go for, though; I might try all of them just to see what they're like... ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |

quick question wrt the rules, is it possible to just sit around a waypoint location then (say a belt can in a low sec system) and simply gank other competitors as they come in?

Yes, as long as you paid to race and you aren't being assisted by outside forces it's perfectly legal.

I've also got a few corp members interested so there may be more than a one man team from M8S.

OVERVIEW The first race of the season ended this evening with bloody fanfare as shellshocked pilots shared victory champagne at the finish line in Cat. Essence region was host to the most brutal event yet in the history of the League, claiming the lives of three pilots and sprawling eleven wrecks across the field. Of the twelve pilots to enter, only seven managed to cross the finish line thanks in part two a rather persistent presence of pirates in the Heydieles system, and a precarious Curse lurking cloaked at Onne.
Ms. Blackheart of NeuroGEN has rapidly earned the ire of fellow racing corporation Dragonstar, firing on their team captain Kayleigh Jamieson. Scavanger, a teammate to Ms. Jamieson was ejected from his ship by CONCORD after engaging in a reprisal attack on the Deteis pilot in a high security system. Despite all her maneuvering, however, Kayleigh won the last laugh finishing before Lillith for fourth place. Perhaps with the realization that such tactics are legal in the league a shift in strategy by both corporations could escalate future engagements even further.
Relative newcomer Quintrala managed to outspeed many of the rookie interceptor pilots, finishing with the second fastest time and claiming first place in the frigate class. Searaph, another newcomer to the League and participating in the frigate class, managed to escape the slaughter unscathed and finishing with healthy marks. Experience clearly is the greatest teacher and in racing there is no substitute.
Strangely enough, no one chose to fly assault frigates for the first race of the season. However with the recent wave of violence sweeping through the event they may start looking more attractive, especially with such an easy pot to earn points for and with no competition. Destroyers are in the same position, but with only one race out of the way it's anyone's guess where this will lead.

We wasn't camping it, we were jus sat in the belt, an then got asked can they collect the waypoint, we jus thought we spice up the action a little bit, so in the end it was camped , but whats a race without any..... complications? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We went to that belt cause we spotted an inty there. We were too late to catch it though but the next moments, we didn't know what was going on. Inties, frigs and destroyers arriving at the belt at 100km, disappearing, coming back... We said "wtf? what have these guys lost here?". Then we saw the waypoint container and decided to stay a bit longer.
I had lots of fun there...

Yes, well, it was a crap shot at that point. I had kited your friend in the Stabber, I believe it was that Verbatim fellow, far enough away that I had the chance to do direct combat with your Crusader and took quite a chance. I honestly was not expecting to come out of that battle with my ship intact, but I felt it was worth a try.
Once the scuffle began I noticed that I was, in all actuality, edging out your damage output by a good deal, and then my greater concern was that the Stabber was coming remarkably close remarkably fast.
I managed to get out of there just in time, I think. All in all it was a most exciting waypoint.

I had no idea by "engaging" you meant "engaging in combat." You call that "clean," Ms. Doyle? And we don't need luck, thank you very much. We have skill. Three ships lost, compared to Ms. Blackheart's single one, and we still beat her by a comfortable margin.
Be aware, NeuroGen, you have opened a nasty precedent. Dragonstar has always prided itself in racing fair and clean races - and we actually do mean clean. But we are not as harmless as we look and Ms. Blackheart did get a taste of that at Waypoint 9. CONCORD really should have kept their noses out of the event, since they obviously didn't care enough to chase Ms. Blackheart into low-sec, but went to the trouble of chasing Scavanger through 8 systems to overwhelm him at Waypoint 10. How brave of the police.
Dragonstar will not be scared off the races by such tactics. Actually, defense of our individual and corporate titles has suddenly fallen behind a desire to humiliate NeuroGen on the track in our priority list.
We shall see you on the track in two weeks, NeuroGen.

Dragonstar is about the team, not the individual, Ms. Blackheart; my individual title is incidental - it could have been me or anyone else at Dragonstar. My team mate did what he had to on a ship undergoing massive electronic failures; his sacrifice made sure Dragonstar finished as high as possible under the circumstances. He had his reasons for not finding a replacement ship.
We are not some scaredy newcomer to the races; we know what we're doing and nothing we do is by chance.

For those who may be contemplating participation in this event that may need additional motivation, the two million ISK collected from the previous week's destroyer class is up for grabs this week, as the prior two racers had not finished. Also, no one was present the previous week for the assault frigate class, and would serve as an excellente opportunity to earn points early in the league.

Edited by: Sae Sato on 30/06/2007 21:40:31 Apparently this has been going on for some time, and I missed it! What a lovely idea for an event. I blame my boss for my inability to keep a keen eye on Galnet these days.
Is there any way for spectators to watch the next race? Or perhaps a moderated channel with information about an ongoing event? I am tempted to try and get permission to feature this in one of my weekly evening shows on Radio Dividedlight.
Depending on how my poker weekend turns out, maybe I can also offer to add a few candies to the prize pot.

OVERVIEW In the much anticipated second race of the season, Placid earned it's name as the anti-climatic follow-up to one of the bloodiest events in the League's history. Despite the region's notorious reputation for having some of the most wanted pilots in the galaxy, Serpentis Corporation proved to be the racer's greatest threat at the asteroid belts, preying upon the newer and slower participants of the event. Not surprisingly, many pilots returned to fill in the assault frigate class, however, no pilot has yet to take on the challenge of racing in a Destroyer.
Dragonstar came back swinging against NeuroGEN this week, engaging an already last place Lillith Blackheart, assumed to be a reprisal for the previous week's assault on their team captain Kayleigh Jamieson. League newcomer and Dragonstar team member Jikomanjoku engaged Ms. Blackheart in a fierce dogfight that left the surprised NeuroGEN captain in her pod and the young pilot with deep structural damage. Jamieson managed to finish in first place without interruption and Takashi Kurosawa hot on her trail. With the Dragonstar team out in full force this week finishing with top scores, they clearly emerged with the upper hand, displaying the coordination of a championship team.

In case anyone is thinking of entering but isn't sure that they can spare the isk, I'm underwriting losses of T1 ships for the rest of this season's races. Once Gyra Rho has confirmed the loss, I will pay victims 2m isk towards fitting a new ship, up to a limit of one payout per competitor per race.
Payouts made so far:

Do not worry, Mr. Mujarkian; the first race is always a learning experience. You will get better and faster with time and experience.
I hope you don't mind me saying this, but perhaps you ought to consider a change of vessel as well. The Tristan is not exactly the fastest frigate around, although it certainly earns some points for resilience.
Having said that, I do remember my team mate Scavanger once fielding a surprisingly fast Tristan on the circuits. Perhaps I should just keep my nose out of other teams' business. My apologies.

For your information I do not send hitmen after anyone. My team mates are not mindless drones; they have their own emotions, their own feelings, they make their own decisions. They don't need me to order them around. And quite frankly I don't blame Jikomanzoku for exacting a little payback.
NeuroGEN started it all; you have no one to blame but yourself, Ms. Blackheart. Did you perchance think Dragonstar were a helpless, harmless target just because we'd never shot back at anyone? We prefer to race clean and fair, but if pushed we can race dirty too.
You claim you had difficulties. And had the situation been reversed I seriously doubt you would have extended the courtesy of not shooting Dragonstar. In fact I do seem to remember you expressing the wish to shoot me back in Essence at a point in the race when I was unarmed. Do you really think I'm naive enough to believe you meant it simply in jest?
I will be there at the start line in Heimatar in two weeks, and so will the Dragonstar Racing Team. We'll see you on the track.

I have reason to suspect Dragonstar corporation is directing some kind of subspace distortion field against our ships that appears to be inducing navigation malfunctions. All of our pilots were experiencing unexplained errors that crippled our ability to compete during the event, and I believe this was a calculated effort to exact revenge upon NGN team leader, Ms. Blackheart.
NeuroGEN does not take kindly to such underhanded tactics, and if my suspicions are confirmed, the racing authorities will be the first to know of this. We will not be intimidated by your cohorts, Ms. Jamieson, and this attack in Placid will not detour our efforts.
Make your preparations, we'll be in Heimatar in two weeks.

I have finally escaped my incarceration in the hellish back water know as Las Vegas.I stopped by to visit a few friends in the area little did I know that they frown on drunken fist fighting(I swear I didn't start it). Also not brought to my attention is the fact that they seem to have forgotten common courtesy, seeing that they held me without communication(read they smashed my com equipment).I finally got everything working again today. No help from them and at great expense to my self. I'm not pleased to have missed the race but I'm damn well going to make the next one(unless incarcerated again lets cross our fingers).
In an unrelated note the rivalry's are staring to get heated.I cant wait to see what happens next.

This is not an engagement that I sought nor was I acting under the instruction of any senior member of the DS racing team.
It is the job of any retainer to serve their Daimyo and as such I am deeply proud of my role during the race in Placid, where I proved myself to be both loyal and capbable.
I would also illustrate to you miss Blackheart that the decision making process which I applied to my actions was similar to that which I have been led to believe you applied in your previous race, I was overtaken. Due to my knowledge of your unconscionable act of aggression during the previous race I deemed it neccessary to safe-guard my fellow DS pilots through my undertaking the destruction of your ship.
My actions may also have saved those pilots racing on behalf of other corporations as there was no way of knowing whether they would fall foul of your vicious temper if caught. Obviously there is no way of proving this and one can only speculate on the likelihood of such a turn of events. Perhaps the other pilots involved would care to reflect on this, as I would remind all parties involved that it was not DS who instigated these hostilities.
You will have your chance at revenge, should you be so inclined.
Yours sincerely, Jikomanzoku

Oh please, Ms Doyle, now you are clutching at straws. I find it much more likely that your team of mechanics simply does not have the skill and experience under their belts than that of Dragonstar. But by all means, make your complaints with the organisation. Dragonstar will make itself available to official inspection by ISGC experts.
And for the record, I do not have "cohorts," I have "team mates." This "attack in Placid" was nothing but a reply to your attack in Essence.

I'm pleased to see that the races are receiving more publicity, even if it proves to be something of a drain on my wallet.
I wasn't aware that anyone had hitherto suggested an 'industrials' category, but now that I've got the idea into my head, I quite like the sound of it. Racing with industrial ships would present considerable challenges to even the most seasoned among us.
Regarding the diversification of ship classes, I've outlined a few ideas on the ISGC's own discussion board. ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |

I managed to catch up with Ms. Jamieson to ask her a few questions about this season:
How did you first hear about the Racing League? Oh, it must have been back in my Academy days. Some of my colleagues were avid followers and I ended up following the season myself on the holofeeds at the canteen. I confess I fell in love with the idea of speeding through star systems; I couldn't wait to sign up! But of course I had to wait until I graduated and found a corporation that would be willing to let me have a go at my dream. Fortunately, Dragonstar was the place.
How did you come to be captain of the Dragonstar team? Seniority *giggles* No, seriously. I was responsible for the foundation of the Racing Team within Dragonstar and so I got the title by default. After that... I suppose my team mates have been happy with my work ahead of the team because I've been elected captain twice now.
What do you do outside of racing professionally? When I'm not dealing with the backstage issues of the Racing Team, I fulfill other duties within Dragonstar. That mostly consists of running courier for Roden Shipyards. *smiles* Roden has been known to offer special deals on their lovely Interceptors in return.
What is your favorite ship to fly? I would have to say the Republic Fleet Firetail without a shadow of a doubt. In particular the Dragonbourne Mk2 which I flew throughout most of Season I. Sturdy for a frigate and devilishly fast, the Firetail allowed us to get Dragonstar a very secure second place despite our late entrance in the League, and made us a name in the racing circles.
What is your most memorable moment in the league to date? Mm, it's tough to choose just one moment. *pauses to think a while* I suppose more than my first podium, the most memorable moment for me was actually the very first waypoint in Race One of Season II. We were racing in Essence and I remember the can was at a planet. As I waited for it to open I could see two dozen frigates all in the surrounding space, trying to get their first bookmark. It was exhilarating, it was beautiful, and it was a nightmare to fly in. To this day I'm not quite sure how I managed to avoid any collisions. Twenty-four pilots at a single waypoint is a sight I won't forget soon.
Who do you anticipate being your biggest adversary this season? Despite the early-season sparring between Dragonstar and NeuroGEN, I seriously doubt Ms. Blackheart is much of a challenge, race-wise. *arches eyebrow in annoyance* In the Interceptor class I'd say the biggest adversary out there is Mr. Takashi Kurosawa. I will also keep an eye on Ms. Quintrala, although she is currently racing a class where Dragonstar hasn't entered any pilots yet.
Team Dragonstar suffered an early point setback thanks to NeuroGEN. Will your team be handling them differently in the future? NeuroGEN upped the stakes; the current champions will have to rise to the challenge and prove their worth. Some things will change, yes. You'll forgive me if I don't reveal details.
Many couldn't help but notice the cordial relationship between your main rival to Dragonstar last season, Nakatre Read, only to find her joining the corporation shortly thereafter. Will she be making an appearance this season? Personal matters have unfortunately kept Nakatre away from racing. I expect she will be back on the track before Season III is over, but it's out of my hands so I make no promises.

Do you have any advice for pilots wanting to race? There's more to racing than expensive modules and raw speed, so don't let the lack of either keep you off the tracks. It is possible to get a frigate going fast on a low budget. You may not be racing to win in one of those but you can get competitive enough. Most certainly, you will gain experience and that is probably the most important asset in a racer.

Mr. Zek was generous enough to sweeten the Individual Destroyer and Frigate season pots with an additional 10 million isk each. With the third event of the season just around the corner(this Saturday!) and still an empty scoreboard for the Destroyer class, this is a perfect opportunity for a daring pilot to score an easy victory.

K. Jamieson.
You are discouraged by appearances, but we judge the heart. Do you not know that I love you only as much as I love the whole of mankind? No more, no less.
I speak to purify your character by the chastisement of your own transgression. You speak to wound friend and enemy alike, and it is this single folly which leaves dark blots on the otherwise clean pages of your life. Indeed, you misjudge me, for you should know in your heart that all I have, I freely give, to you or any person with need or desire.
If I willfully put my hand in the fire, it is no fault of the flames that I am burned. Likewise, where you give yourself to anger without just cause, particularly as you were peacefully and gently warned against it, the folly lies with you.
Be well, dear Kayleigh, knowing that though we shall not always be of one accord, I treasure you always, for you bring more joy than sorrow, though both strike me to the depth of my soul. Be assured that your own harsh words against me are now forgotten. |

As it is beyond her control to choose who admires her team and who does not, your implication that my actions somehow diminish the content of her character is indeed foolish. If stirring the pot be your finest talent, Lillith, then perhaps you'd make a better chef than racer; you could use your personality as a bitter seasoning to every dish.

OVERVIEW The third race of the season took place in the Heimatar region of the Minmatar Republic, an area of space notorious for for its gatecamps and Cartel thugs. Fortunately for the racers, the hazards were minimal and a majority of the race was decided by speed, accuracy, and persistence.
This was the first week that all classes were occupied with at least enough competition to ensure that no one would be guaranteed first place scores simply for docking at the finish line. The always ecccentric Kendar Zek decided to add to the evening's competition by including an additional ten million isk for the winners of the interceptor class, where a majority of the evening's racers were set to compete. Team captain and season champion Kayleigh Jamieson and her partner Scavanger took home first and second place with Takashi Kurosawa nipping at their heels. Once again, Dragonstar have proven their skill by securing an early lead in what is shaping up to be the most heated class in the League.
Returning racers Kazuo Ishiguro and DeVinces deluged into the unmarked Destroyer class, while racing newcomer Dougalar maintained her dominance in the assault frigate category, besting NeuroGEN's Darina Rea by over a minute and a half. Dominating the frigate class, University student Quintrala has consistently outclassed her competition while keeping steady with many of the interceptor racers. Despite a serious navigation issue at the last waypoint, she still managed to finish four minutes ahead of the other frigate racers. Many have speculated how long she will last before the allure of joining team Dragonstar becomes too difficult to resist.

Why didn't I think of that? Still, there are a couple of points that could be clarified:Is this a season prize or a single-race prize?By 'people', are you referring specifically to other racers?

Your offer has been accepted, Ms. Zion.
A clarification and some updates on the event:
A Cruor blueprint has been offered for the pilot that destroys the most ships during the season, so long as they submit a sample of their DNA. Be advised that the event rules are in effect and that any podding will be met with expulsion. Kills also include non-racing pod pilots destroyed during the event.
This Sunday's race will be held in Metropolis, and Kendar has included an added twenty-five million isk for the winners of the destroyer class as added incentive.
Best of luck to all the competitors and I look forward to seeing all of you tommorrow.

It seems all race participants are having the same problem so it's best to keep you all here until you can all continue.
If we start moving the participants we'd be affecting the results, hopefully the load on the node will be less as soon as possible.

OVERVIEW The fourth race of the season took place in Metropolis, and fortunately for all the participants without any spatial disturbances. Noted for being the largest region in the Republic, it has always been a bustling hub for the interstellar economy, and where there's ISK there's criminal activity. This evening's waypoints forced pilots to deluge into numerous low security belts where Angel Cartel thugs prowled, rattling both new and experienced racers alike.
In a fierce battle for first place for the interceptor class, Takashi Kurosawa of the Patriot Society claimed a well-earned first place win against an ailing Kayleigh Jamieson, nipping at his heels despite feeling less than fit. Team Dragonstar as a whole seemed to be ailing as of late, with an unconfirmed loss by returning veteran Taco Smakbez to gatecampers, and a fifth place finish for relative newcomer Jikomanzoku. Lillith Blackheart of NeuroGEN placed third with a commanding lead over Irongut, proving exceedingly well in the Caldari-designed Crow against a class largely dominated by Ares interceptors.
In the frigate class, University of Caile Student Quintrala continues to dominate the field in her Executioner, with Searaph finishing nearly seven minutes behind her to hold second place. Metrius, a returning pilot from the first race of the season finished in a strong third place position. Yarkan and Sera Mujarkian followed soon after. With pilots in the interceptor class having difficulty keeping pace with Quin, one has to wonder if anyone in her own class will be able to match her abilities.
A bit of an upset happened this evening in the Assault Frigate class between fierce competitors Darina Rea and Dougalar that escalated to physical force as local authorities intervened in NeuroGEN's favor, destroying Dougalar's Retribution in Evati. Despite the heated rivalries amongst the hot shot interceptor pilots, NeuroGEN is looking to be a serious adversary for Imperium Technologies for top honors in the Assault Frigate league categories.
With a twenty-five million ISK bonus on the line for winners of the Destroyer class this event, Kazuo Ishiguro earned a bulk of the winnings this evening finishing strong for a second straight race despite numerous technical malfunctions. First time racer Saikoyu of Rho Dynamics secured second place with an impressive time in her Coercer, while DeVinces' Catalyst sauntered to the finish line with third place. Mr. Ishiguro's reign continues in this class, but how long will others challenge him?

I still haven't achieved my goal of beating an interceptor in my destroyer, but it's only a matter of time, as Jikomanzoku will attest
We were neck and neck for about 15 minutes, until I fumbled a bookmark at waypoint 13 and had to warp back for it. We also saw Metrius from time to time, before the latter pulled away over the last few jumps.
I still feel that the destroyer class is not being tapped to its full potential, so I'm putting up a Navy Issue Caracal for the pilot who places 1st in the destroyer league at the end of the current season.
Finally, I wish Kay a speedy recovery from her current illness. ------ Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant tanking |

Glad to hear you enjoyed your first race Lief.
It was an interesting night with 2 of the low sec waypoints destroyed by pirates. They called themselves anti-pirate but destroyed waypoints and wanted paid to not interfere with the race when it passed through their home constellation. In my experience most pirates are more honest than that.
So where's Gyra with the results?

OVERVIEW Domain saw action this evening during the fifth race of the season and the first within Imperial space. One of the largest regions in the Amarrian Empire, this one in particular was rife with Sansha activity in the belts and many aggressive capsuleer organizations claiming the lower security constellations for their Domain. One such organization was called Forsaken Resistance.
Just prior to the event, I was informed by individuals that the Zanka system was our space[Forsaken Resistance and CCCP INC] and that anchoring, market sales, mining, and combat was outlawed without prior permission. Although they were kind enough to inform me ahead of time that the waypoint had been removed, it was later discovered that the waypoint in Faswiba was also destroyed, resulting in a severe detour and loss of time for the race leaders.
The frigate class saw the most action this evening with a total of six racers, including newcomer Lief Siddhe of the University of Caille, who in his debut managed to claim second place in his Incursus. Searaph and Sera Mujarkian both slid just behind him with a respectable third and fourth place. Quintrala managed to defy the odds once again and maintain her flawless record, finishing first once again.
A face off between Takashi Kurosawa and Kayleigh Jamieson was the highlight of the interceptor class, where Takashi held the lead and league veteran Ms. Jamieson struggled to keep up despite multiple navigational errors by both pilots. Irongut finished shortly thereafter as Ms. Blackheart removed herself from the competition due to equipment failures and unfortunate jumpgate failures.
The Destroyer class pitted Kazuo Ishiguro's Thrasher against Mark Weston of The Graduates flying his golden Coercer. Although Kazuo's lead was never truly contested, Mr. Weston's timing earned him a generous start along the destroyer class rankings for himself and his corporation.
A surprising change of events for the Assault frigate class this week, as heated rivals Dougalar and Darina Rea escalated to an exchange of weapons fire. Unfortunately for Ms. Rea, who misinterpreted her readout instigated the assault in CONCORD held territory resulting in the removal of her ship by police forces. Returning Dragonstar pilot Nerras slid through the confusion to gain the lead and finish in first place, while freedom fighter Rikelov made a comfortable finish in third place in his Jaguar.

Woot! Go go UoC!

I had a pretty good run going up until can 10. I was slightly delayed at can 6, waiting for the word on where to proceed next due to the destroyed cans, but I lost my contention for the lead at can 10 when I dragged the waypoint too fast and didn't realize it had failed to transfer until I was in warp to the next gate....it was a costly mistake as waypoint 10 had one of the longest sprints.
I had a great time, and was happy to have concluded the race even with several of the low-sec systems having solid red for me in local and a few war targets about (we raced a loop around a minor skirmish between UK and PIE that had me concerned).
I would also like to thank my alliance-mates for refraining from shooting my fellow racers, Domain is a warzone for us and it can be somewhat difficult to tell an oppressor from a racer it seems.
I learned quite a bit from this race and will definitely be back.

Wow, is it not a rush? An hour screaming inside the pod, racers ahead and racers behind! What comes next? Was that the right waypoint or Gyra's evil decoy? Damit, no can! Who is shooting? Pirates? Gate camp?

*** Dragonstar Official Press Release ***
The Dragonstar Racing Team is happy to announce that team Captain Kayleigh Jamieson is fully recovered from the illness which affected her during the Metropolis race, although her individual result in the race turned out to be the same.
Despite the stresses of an ongoing war we managed to show up with two racers in two classes and we're happy with the results. We're especially happy with Nerras winning the AF class every time he shows up at the start line.
We're at the half-season point and we still have a fair shot at retaining some titles despite those unexpected setbacks going back to Race One. We are convinced we will still prevail in the end.

Ms. Blackheart was generous enough to answer some of our questions:
How did you first hear about the Racing League? I've known about it for a while. I dabbled in it a bit in season two, however there were... complications due to my employment at the time that caused me to be unable to participate in it regularly.
What do you do outside of racing professionally? I head Administration and Management within NeuroGEN, Inc. Mostly I handle funding and all of that paperwork and patenting rights and such nonsense within the company, whereas Dr. Nola Doyle runs the entire research division. We are a cutting-edge research corporation, dealing most prevalently with neurological and cybertechnological avenues, as is apparent from this year's Inventor's Summit, where Dr. Doyle revealed one of our forty-three leading projects, codenamed "Doppleganger".
The cluster as a whole shall be seeing some amazing things released from NeuroGEN's files in the coming future as patent filings are completed.
What is your most memorable moment during (all seasons) the races? *cracks a slight grin* Seeing Ms. Jamieson's pod race away at waypoint three in race one of this season.
NeuroGEN has been extremely aggressive in its introduction to the League that has earned your team an infamous reputation. Do you feel this reflects poorly on your corporation? *chuckles softly* Not at all. If anything it shoes that NeuroGEN is willing to do what must be done, within confines of law or whatever rules system is in place, to attempt to achieve the goal set before us. I think it is a bit simplistic of anyone to think poorly of the corporation based on the fact that we initiated tactics that are well within the boundaries of the ISGC's ruleset.
What is your favorite ship to fly? The Drake class Battlecruiser.. well, perhaps my Phantasm that I brought with me back from Stain, though it is hardly as practical. In the races, though, I am fairly fond of my Crow.
Who do you anticipate being your biggest adversary this season? Honestly? DragonStar. They did not take the attack on Ms. Jamieson very well, as is to be expected, and their teamwork, even considering that Scavanger fellow was having interfacing issues, is extraordinary. So I expect that NeuroGEN will be... kept under close watch by them during the racing season as it develops. Beyond DragonStar, that Takashi fellow seems an amazing pilot.
With Dragonstar in first place in the interceptor class, are you planning to shift your strategy again or focus on a different class? *frowns a bit* I can not comment on that. I wouldn't want to give away anything to the competition.
Your corporation has levied accusations that Dragonstar corporation allegedly use underhanded tactics to win their events. Having flown against them personally, do you still believe this to be the case? *continues frowning* I have little to say about this. One the one side race two had some incredibly... fishy goings on involved, and the entirety of NeuroGEN, and only NeuroGEN were affected by them. However, on the flip side of that, it is our word against theirs, and nothing will ever come of any sort of investigation save for wasted time, so in a nut shell I suppose it does not really matter one iota, so I would prefer the entire thing would be dropped.
Do you have any advice for pilots wanting to race? Expect anything. The races can be fairly cut-throat. They are entertaining, at the very least, but you could easily lose whatever ship you go in with. Definately stay in a class where you can afford any losses at the time. *pauses* ...and don't give up.

"Funny, ha, ha. Rescheduled? Again? So what. Come to the party, race other day."
"Well, you know, summer is almost over at Mioar but about to begin in Mikra, I have not been to one there in a long time and maybe we could..."
"North? Sebiestor are no fun..."
"Anyway, I will still go to the bash, but will have to leave early."
"It is your loss. We still get to see you, that is good. By the way, when do you switch that crap for a real racer, like a Vigil? "
Oh, goodie, a joke. "No way. Keep space beautiful, y'know. I am flying my Wing all the way to the top. Ah, Taro...? Thanks for taking it well."
"Fly safe and fast... see you when I see you."
"Miss you guys. See you later, OK? Bye now."

"Welcome to the University of Caille. State your name for connection."
"Hello Caille, this is Quin. Is Brax around?"

Kayleigh Jamieson catches up on the latest news, datapad in hand, comfortably resting on the sofa at home with one hand controling the device and another settled casually on the other woman's ankle at her lap. She narrows her slanted eyes suspiciously when she notices a new interview posted up, featuring none other than Ms Blackheart.
She begins to read, and then growls softly as she gets to the most memorable moments. "Oh for the love of-" she vents, glancing at the silver-haired woman lounging next to her on the sofa. "I swear, this woman takes pleasure in provoking me, Nakatre." At the quizical gaze from her sweetheart she clarifies, waving the datapad vaguely in the air: "Interview with Blackheart."

"Urrrgh what's that noise?" Irongut moaned. The room swam as he opened his eyes and struggled to avoid throwing up. "Ohhh my head. I told Mentarn mixing Crash into that Amarrian brandy was a bad idea. I really should stop drinking with that gangster" he thought.
A light was blinking on the comms unit on the other side of the room. Detaching himself from the tangle of tanned arms, legs and sheets he crossed the room. "Who the hell's calling me here? I'm supposed to be out of the loop." he grumbled. "Keep it down would you" moaned one of the girls, "I'm trying to sleep off a hangover."
He deactivated the incoming call alarm and checked the console. Recognising the source of the coded transmission he transferred the call to the next room, pulled on a mostly clean shirt and ran his fingers through his hair. Glancing at a mirror as he left the room he thought "I look terrible, she's going to give me a hard time again."
The image of a pretty, young Achura coalesced above the coffee table as he sat on a couch. "You look ill," she said in a husky voice. "Have you been drinking with that Cartel thug again?"
"Good morning to you too Hsi," he rasped. "I've told you before, Mentarn isn't a thug he has people for that. Now what is so damn important that you had to disturb me here?"
"Gyra's scheduled the next race of the season, it's in Genesis this Sunday." she replied. "I've completed the ship modifications you ordered but we need you to run some safety tests before the race. The sooner you get back here the better."
"Well it'll have to wait. I've got a few jobs to do here and we don't want to annoy our friends now do we?" he said raising an eyebrow.
She looked worried. "But if the modifications overload the warp drive they'll be cleaning bits of you off the station windows in several systems. We need to run a carefully controlled test and you're the only one that can fly the ship. Computer models just won't cut it with this kind of..."
He interrupted her, "Send Gyra a message to confirm I'll be there and don't worry, I trust your engineering skills. I'll see you on Sunday about 2 hours before the race."
"But..." she sighed. "Ok you're the boss. I'll see you on Sunday."
As the girl's image faded Irongut rubbed the stubble on his chin. "I better grab a shower and get moving," he thought. "It's going to be a busy weekend."

SPONSORED BY Veto Corp Pay The ManÖ | Dragonstar | Lutin Group
OVERVIEW Genesis played host to the sixth event this evening as pilots vied for the lead crossing the halfway point of the season. Though often considered the birthplace of human civilization, the region was anything but forgiving to the racers tonight, with fourteen of fifteen waypoints located in low security zones crossing through some of the most treacherous routes in the known universe. However, despite the dangers from roaming gangs of Blood Raiders and capsuleer pirates, some racers discovered the danger was much closer than anticipated.
Despite a low turnout this event, the interceptor class remained competitive with five participants ready to tangle. Veteran interceptor elites Kayleigh Jamieson and Takashi Kurosawa squared off as the Dragonstar team captain scored an early lead and held it until the end. Kazuo Ishiguro, incensed with the lack of competition in the Destroyer class, chose to compete in his Stiletto instead. Irongut finished shortly after Mr. Ishiguro in fourth place. Newcomer Eskalin of Evolution arrived with guns blazing against Searaph's Vigil in the Otakod system. Although the Vigil made a daring escape, the Amarr Navy was none pleased with the Stiletto's criminal behavior and quickly dispatched it at the gate.
Quintrala's Executioner class frigate defied all odds today as she finished in third place amongst all the racers, while a rattled Searaph eased into the finish bay nearly nine minutes later.
Darina Rea's reign of terror hit its mark this week after a HUD error from the prior event led to the destruction of her assault frigate. This week found its target in Dougalar's Jaguar, bearing down upon it in the Itrin system with a complement of Warrior IIs and hybrid ammunition. Darina managed to secure the kill against her lead rival and even offered other pilots bounty ISK to remove her again when Dougalar began to shorten her lead. The NeuroGEN firestarter finished almost six minutes ahead of her despite having to wait out the local Naval Response alerts. Between Ms. Blackheart and now Ms. Rea, NeuroGEN have learned to win by the way of the gun as they blast their way through the Racing League.

It wasn't the lack of competition that drove me to run in a Stiletto (that got a few laughs ) so much as the fact that I was running rather late and didn't want to hold everyone up any longer than necessary. I'll be returning to the Destroyer class next time, and with any luck I'll have things sorted out a bit better.
That said, it was certainly more of a challenge than normal, and I salute those pilots who have persisted with interceptors & frigates throughout the season. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

More to say the bounty stands. If anyone destroys Darina Rea in the next race 10 Mil will be there's. (Confirmation of kill from Grya of course).
If the worst should hapen and her pod was to explode by ' Accident ' then another 5 mil will be added. If I should win the AF class and her ship was destroyed 10 Mil would be added.
For 2 weeks now I have suffered unprovoked attacks by this B**ch and I have had enough. She can not beat me in a race of skill so has to resort to guns. Well the Isk is on offer who will claim it?

Earlier this year I was with some friends at a cafe at Cham Sara -Cha Mara or something?- when an agitated customer started yelling at the holo and it turns out it was the ISGC awards ceremony. "You should do that, Quin," they said and, out of curiosity, I have been following the League since...
How or where did you learn to fly Amarrian ships so well? Why, thanks! I do not generally fly Amarrian but I love my frigate, I call her A Wing and a Prayer.
The hardest part of flying Amarr is in one's head, the pre-conception that their ships suck or something. Some of my friends would not fly Amarr because of politics, the sad state of Amarrian astro industry, cap guzzlers - whatever. I lived for many years in the Empire since I was like ten and, while life as a teenager did suck, I learned that there are good and bad people, good and bad things wherever you go, and kept an open mind. Now that I do fly, I have discovered that the Executioner just happens to be very good, one of the best T1 racers. On top of that, the UC crew does a great job fitting her - new ideas to try every race so I have to study, study, study, just to keep up with the improvements.
What is your most memorable moment in the league to date? It has to be the last race of season two, Scavanger and I were tied for like 5 waypoints and I beat him to the finish by just a few seconds! It took me a couple of minutes to stop shaking and pull back together. Beating a pro... it can be done!
If you had to race in something other than an Executioner, what would it be? Oh dear, so many choices for second best ship *winks*. I want a Malediction and an Ares interceptor for when I have the skills. A Rifter frigate, ugly but maybe if I carry a cloak... *frowns briefly* Hmm... I have my Stiletto, Blahnik, but everyone is flying them nowadays, I prefer ships that almost no one else races. I want a Daredevil, too... could I race that if I had one?
Not yet. Who do you see as your greatest opponent in the league so far? Kay and Tak stand out, they are so seriously fast. I would be really having trouble keeping up the pace on the frigate class if they were racing theirs. But they aren't. *grins* Anyway, I still want to beat them on my frig, maybe it can be done? The times are really getting close now, so keep watching!
With a near perfect record in the league this season, you must be attracting a lot of attention from the other teams. Would you ever consider flying for another team outside of the University? I would miss my friends so much... Denise, Jules, Professor Ryder, Sirius, Nez and everyone else... even Matt! On another hand, everyone is so nice at ISGC, we all get along pretty well, there is a lot of fun on station before and after each race and I am starting to make good friends. Who knows? Maybe I will someday, but I am not ready yet.
Do you have any advice for newcomers to the league? *serious* Go find old race reports, read them and learn the moves. Be creative, try things no one else has done. Practice before the race so you know your ship and your mods... *smiling* and have fun! |

*grins* There's a rumor floating about that you have a particular interest for men in stilettos. Is that true? Oh! *loud laugh, blushes and covers her face* Well, stilettos have become quite popular amongst men in the League... I say any man who is brave enough to run in stilettos deserves a lot of respect. Anyway, I am particularly interested in overtaking these men in stilettos and beating them to the finish line. Takashi, you are next. *sticks tongue out*

Edited by: Blackback Starkiel on 01/09/2007 09:28:36 I just stumbled across the racing news scouring the network and must say that viewing the back logs it's seems to be a great event with lots of fun. My compliments to the ISGC for hosting the races, also in the face of hostile domains and coorporations along the route.
I've found great amusement in watching the interviews with the participants. Surely you all have skills beyond that of normal capsuleers, and in some cases your temperament reminds me of the fiery equines they used to race at my uncle's planet-side ranch when I was a kid.
I would be interesting to partake in this for fun in the future, once I have enough financial possibilities. For now I'll be the proverbial spectator though. My skills with the controls would in no way match those on the circuit, I'm sure. Nevertheless I must admit that could consider taking part in the frigatte competition solely for the sake of having a chance to chat with miss Quintrala in person; as an amateur artist and painter, I must say that's must be one of the most beautiful women I've seen on the Summit for a long while.
Keep it up, will follow these races closely from now on. . Blackback

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 05/09/2007 20:23:32 It's a standing offer to all people flying T1 ships. As Quin has ably demonstrated (and I have confirmed through my shabbier performance last season), skill counts for much more than expensive equipment, and I don't think that people should be put off from racing because it's too costly for them. Losses are relatively rare - I've only had to make 3 payouts so far this season.
If in doubt, run for it - you're in a small, agile ship that's difficult to hit or even lock. Warp core stabilizers are definitely not required, and a lot of racers sc*****through without even fitting any sort of tank.

OVERVIEW The seventh race of the season took place in The Bleak Lands, a region formerly resident to the Blood Raiders until recent times. Although the Amarr Empire now claims the area, the region lives up to its name as very little activity was present beside scavangers and pirates, including the remnant Blooders that scour the asteroid belts. The route for the evening traveled down the main pipeline through the region and back again, passing by numerous pirate havens and low security chokepoints.
The interceptor class was unusually sparse this evening, with only the top three competitors duking it out for an edge in standings. A much needed first place was denied from Kayleigh Jamieson and team Dragonstar this evening as Takashi Kurosawa took advantage of minor navigational mistakes during the latter half of the race and never looked back. Irongut finished at a modest time for third place.
Seven people competed this evening for the frigate class, despite being dominated by the incorrigible Quintrala and her Executioner, A Wing and a Prayer. This evening was no exception, with the perky UC redhead finishing in first place with Searaph in second place. Newcomer Zelseus finished well for his first entry into the league in his shiny Rifter, even scoring a kill against Julius DarkWings' destroyer. Eve University's Zedah Zoid snuck in comfortably at fourth place, followed by Sera Mujarkian, and finally Lief Siddhe despite being accosted by Mr. DarkWings in the Kamela system.
Blackback Starkiel, season rookie and State War Academy student, suffered beginners misfortune as an Arazu shredded his Condor and capsule in Kourmonen. Although deaths are very rare in the League(almost as rare as flying a Condor), his positive attitude and others willingness to compensate for the misfortune were of particular merit this evening, showing the duality of comradery and competition shared between the racers.
The assault frigate class was swept by Nerras and team Dragonstar this evening thanks to unparalleled teamwork, finishing nearly fifteen minutes ahead of season leader Dougalar.
In the Destroyer class, Coercers proved dominant factors for Mark Weston of The Graduates and Saikoyu who finished first and second place respectively. A sneaky Kazuo Ishiguro claimed third place despite deciding to fly a Mammoth through the entire event, and was awarded one point for finishing without being disintegrated. Julius DarkWings, another newcomer, was clearly after the Cruor prize this evening as he began firing on fellow pilots, managing to destroy Lief Siddhe's Atron in Kamela before Zelseus managed to remove him from action.

Thanks to the organizer for a great event! Less thanks for the neighbourhood pirate who found it amusing to blow up my Condor "Flying pencil" with nothing in its cargo hold but a bunch of bookmarks ... head still rings from that one. It was a most scenic route, also since I spent most of the time alone in space far behind the other racers and had time to enjoy it ... Hopefully I'll learn from my beginner's mistakes until next time. I would also especially like to commend the great atmosphere surrounding the race, rarely have such an air of comraderie been seen in such a competetive circumstance. Thanks for the words of support and recompensations surprisingly offered from the other racers, that goes beyond sportmanship indeed. Cheers.
Maybe I'll indeed go name my new ship "The flying permanent marker" as suggested ... . Blackback

Rule Change Notice Quoted from the original rules:
Quote: The racers will start each event docked at a station of the coordinators choosing.
This portion of the rule has changed so that there will only will be one locked bookmark in each container. Racers will not be required to take a bookmark, only access the container to find the next waypoint. Tampering with the container, which includes destroying the container or adding bookmarks to the waypoint, is still prohibited.
The reasoning was outlined on the ISGC communications portal here for those who are interested in why this change has been implemented. Questions are encouraged on the announcement in question.
Thank you, Gyra

I am of two minds as to this change. On the one hand it leaves less to chance and it certainly lessens the dangers for the racers waiting around the can for the next waypoint - particularly at the back of the pack. On the other hand, navigation is going to be tricky. I envision a lot more navigational errors by pilots in the near future.
((Plus, in an OOC capacity, less excitement/suspense at the can, IMO. And yet I know I'm in an Interceptor with a tiny sig radius at the head of the race; I do understand the plight of racers at the back of the pack with big sig radius on them.))

OVERVIEW The eighth race of the season was held this evening in the Lonetrek region, just one of three possessed by the Caldari State. This track featured some of the more dangerous areas of the region, where Guristas pirates roamed freely through the asteroid belts. A slight change in the rules also kept the willing on their toes, but despite some losses the field remained extremely competitive as we near the end.
The frigate class proved to be the most vibrant tonight, despite Quintrala's absolute dominance over the individual standings in her Executioner-class vessel and continued to show why she is the idol of ion engines everywhere. Searaph, long held second place finisher behind Quintrala, encountered fierce resistance in Seranen system from Guristas thugs who quickly dispatched his ship and allowed sophomore Zelseus and Zedah Zoid the opportunity to secure second and third places respectively.
The interceptor class found the season leaders pitted against one another in a desperate attempt to secure a lead over the other. Dragonstar team leader Kayleigh Jamieson struggled to reach Takashi Kurosawa for first place, but managed a clear and commanding lead throughout the evening.
Destroyers found season leader Kazuo Ishiguro's Thrasher-class vessel against Mark Weston's Coercer, and while Mr. Weston proved to be a fierce competitor his ship was dispatched by the same band of Guristas that claimed Searaph's Vigil, vowing to return to race another day. Mr. Ishiguro finished in first place without incident.
The assault frigate class was unusually lively this evening as the rivalry between Dougalar and Darina Rea continued with a surprise class change for Irongut in his Ishkur. Although unconfirmed as of yet, Ms. Rea has claimed to have been destroyed by the same Guristas thugs that eliminated Mark Weston and Searaph, resulting in her third place finish behind Irongut. Dougalar's first place finish gives her a commanding lead for the season, and unless she simply doesn't race is almost sure to be its first reigning champion.

Edited by: Mark Weston on 25/09/2007 17:07:31 Well my encounter with the Guristas and their unexpectedly heavy electronic warfare was very educational. Needless to say, losing my ship is a bit of a setback to my racing plans.
As a result, I think I'll be sitting out the rest of the Season Three, but hope to return for a full Season Four. Possibly in a different Class; racing destroyers has been very interesting, but I think it would be more fun to race against a larger field of opponents.

I have been following the races closely since more or less the start of the current season; great entertainment in the Interceptor class, I must say. Although it looks as though Ms. Jamieson has exhausted her arguments. Will she pull one like she did last season and woo Mr. Takashi into her team? *laughs*
But my God, Ms. Delorois must be the most understated pilot in the whole circuit. Well done, Ms. To even make the podium among so many interceptors is a great feat. And she flies the Executioner, my favourite frigate. I wonder, is there a fanclub one might sign on to?

Wow, thank you!
A fanclub, how cool can this get? No one at UC ever taught us how to deal with this without getting lightheaded. Let me give this a try:
"You guys rock, love each and every single one -you know who you are. By the way, I must credit mes garagistes crew and whoever designed the Executioner friggy. I would not be here without them."
Anyway, do sign up at ISGC and come racing! That is as much as the Quin fan club as the Kay fan club and the Kaz and the Tak and everyone's -Q

Thank you so much for your invitation, Ms Delorois, but I'm afraid I wouldn't know which end of a Microwarp Drive should point where. And there would be way too much studying involved in finding out. I prefer watching from the sidelines. Perhaps one day I'll be lucky enough to see the competition go by.
I shall, however, keep an eye on the ISGC Forums. Perhaps one day we'll be blessed with reports by racers other than Ms Jamieson. I would honestly love to see an account of events from a University of Caille perspective.

Edited by: Takashi Kurosawa on 30/09/2007 23:44:40 Gyra has yet to post the details of this nights race, but suffice it to say that DeadRow of Dragonstar Racing Team unprovoked chose to attack and dispose of my ship during the race, by the command of none other than the esteemed Ms. Kayleigh Jamieson.
Tonight in The Citadel, in the 9th race of the season I saw a side of Dragonstar which I had yet to see and honestly had not expected from a team led by the famous Kayleigh Jamieson, a legend in the Racing League, previously held in high esteem by myself.
If you will, peruse the earlier pages of this bulletin to learn how the same Ms. Jamieson responded when she herself was shot down unprovoked by Lilith Blackheart of NeuroGEN. So how could Dragonstar indulge in the same kind of activity which was then looked upon so harshly? What made Dragonstar Racing Team change their code of ethics so that attacking other racers without provocation is now looked upon as a fair tactic in the League?
Kayleigh argues that because she lost points because of the NeuroGEN incident, her hand was forced in employing this tactic to recover my previous lead of 13 points. By the hand of Ms. Blackheart, Kayleigh only managed to finish 4th in the first race of the season. But what if navigational errors had caused similar problems? Would that also have been enough for Dragonstar Racing Team to make short of their previous views on attacking competitors? One can only wonder.
As it is, the Interceptor class of the 3rd season of the Racing League looks to be decided, not upon the racing abilities of each racer, but instead upon the amount of team mates each pilot can muster at the starting line and their willingness to sacrifice their ships in an effort to dispose of competitors. As the sole pilot representing The Patriot Society that makes winning the Racing League against Kayleigh and her henchmen a hard task indeed.
In conclusion, allow me to quote Ms. Jamieson: "Dragonstar has always prided itself in racing fair and clean races - and we actually do mean clean.". I guess Dragonstar will take pride in other things now?

Last time I checked, it was completely legal to shoot other racers. So...I'd say Kayleigh and Dragonstar still race by the rules. If you can't hack it, don't race. Pretty simple. There is alot of ISK and pride on the line in this league. What did you expect?

Edited by: Takashi Kurosawa on 01/10/2007 00:00:30 Well, you can call me naive and I probably am, but I expected more of Dragonstar. There is a difference between what is legal and what is right, and if you look at the quote by Ms. Jamieson you will see that I had good reason to believe that Dragonstar Racing Team would not stoop to this level.
I have never stated that what Dragonstar did tonight was against the rules.

I can answer your question, Mr Kurosawa. Navigational errors would never have forced my hand like this. I said so in the race comms and I say so now: what Dragonstar pulled today was but an attempt to level the field between the two of us so that what counts in the end really is our flying skill and not whether some petty soul decided to shoot the current champion just because she could or not.
Quote: As it is, the Interceptor class of the 3rd season of the Racing League looks to be decided, not upon the racing abilities of each racer, but instead upon the amount of team mates each pilot can muster at the starting line and their willingness to sacrifice their ships in an effort to dispose of competitors. On the contrary. Now that the field is leveled between you and I, it will finally be decided upon racing abilities.
And as a sidenote, I'd like to point out my team mates are not "henchmen." They are team mates. I help them as much as they help me; that's what being in a team is all about. And in the case of this incident in our defense I'd like to point out that although your words make it sound like we - I believe the slang term is "ganked" - like we ganked you, in fact you were only up against one of our team (DeadRow) and we did not jam your warp drive, so you had the option of warping out left open to you. Lillith Blackheart certainly didn't give me that option.
Quote: In conclusion, allow me to quote Ms. Jamieson: "Dragonstar has always prided itself in racing fair and clean races - and we actually do mean clean.". I guess Dragonstar will take pride in other things now?
I concede this point. I am by no means proud of what we did in Kubinen tonight. I will, however, stand by my decision and take responsibility for the actions of my team, as captain of the Dragonstar Racing Team.
What we did was necessary to level the field between myself and Mr. Kurosawa. No, I am not proud of it. As a gesture of good will we are offering to replace your Stiletto-class Interceptor and all modules as listed by the CONCORD kill mail.
I would also like to point out, as Lillith Blackheart did to me as well, that we did nothing that was not contemplated by the rules. It is legal, however unsavoury, to shoot at the rest of the competition. Dragonstar has never and will never break the rules of the League.
K. Jamieson Captain of the Dragonstar Racing Team.

Let us not argue over petty details. DeadRow in his gank-fitted Taranis-class Interceptor versus my racing-fitted Stiletto was over before it started. I had two options: 1) try to survive long enough to get the bookmark and warp out, or 2) warp out, save my ship and forfeit any chance of winning the race or even competing for the podium.
As you admit to your actions being unsavoury, did you ever consider using other measures of team work to ensure your victory? With four members of Dragonstar Racing Team piloting Interceptors this evening, you could have gone another path of attempting to reject 1st and 2nd place to me.

OVERVIEW The ninth race of the season took place in the Citadel region of the Caldari State with a rather surprising lineup at the starting position. The track itself was a fairly linear course that travelled up the spine of the region, branching out briefly to tease some of the lower security areas. In addition to the compliment of regulars this season, some old faces made a presence in the field that included former season regular Iconath and most of the Dragonstar team in the interceptor class.
While the Destroyer class lacked any competition this evening, the interceptor class was bustling with activity as over eight pilots vied for position. With Dragonstar in full force and musings of retaliation against Takashi Kurosawa's near flawless streak this season, his worst fears came to reality as DeadRow of team Dragonstar dispatched his Stiletto in the Kubinen asteroid belt. Her Taranis was destroyed shortly thereafter attempting to outrun CONCORD's sentries. Although Mr. Kurosawa managed to finish despite the setback, his final position set him at sixth place overall with Kayleigh Jamieson, enabling her to catch up significantly in the overal season standings.
Quintrala lended her expertise this evening as she continued to dominate the frigate class, surging her partner Lief Siddhe nearly six minutes ahead of their nearest adversary Zedah Zoid. It would seem the comraderie in the University of Caille is much stronger than many had predicted.
Dougalar struggled against Kazuo Ishiguro in the assault frigate class as both competed in Jaguars, while Irongut skittered into third place in his Ishkur almost three minutes behind the others. Practically unopposed, Dougalar looks to be secure in her championship in this class despite a relative low period in the latter half of the season.

Please, Takashi... That is precisely what we've been trying since the second race of the season, but let's face it: there's me, there's you and there's Quintrala. The rest of the pack takes its time to dock, typically. Race results are out there for anyone to verify this.

My... I guess Ms Jamieson hadn't exhausted all her arguments. I watched it all on holovision at the bar and ouch, that explosion looked painful even to me!
On the up side, everything gets to be decided on the very last race. That's exciting stuff.
On the down side: I really don't think I'll be joining the League any time soon. This really is much better experienced through holovision, I do believe.
However the fandom demands to know: what happened to Ms Delorois during the race? She was nowhere to be seen for most of it!

I am a gentleman, but I take credit where credit is due:
Quin made a couple of navigational mistakes at the beginning of the race, and fell behind the pack. But I helped her drag her arse out of the system where she got stuck, and with time she caught up with me and took the lead. We then used the same piggyback tactic to let me catch up to her and finish in second place. You could say that today, Quin was the raw speed and me the raw brains behind the frigate race :D I guess that's how Gallente-Intaki team-ups work, non?
It was a good race, I am very satisfied with the results, and can't wait for the next, final race. I am sure there will be a lot of interesting things to see!

Well well, Kayleigh did you not know that cloaked ships aren't allowed in the League? After all, I haven't seen any of your team mates for many of the races this season. In fact, I do seem to recall one of the earlier races where Scavanger was present and managed to secure a 2nd place with you coming in on the top spot.
If you desire for a fair and clean race next Sunday, so it shall be. Our racing skills shall be allowed to decide the winner of that race, if fate and Dragonstar allows.
But rest assured that your actions will not be forgotten once season 4 starts no matter the outcome of this season.

Originally by: Gyra Rho Quintrala lended her expertise this evening as she continued to dominate the frigate class, surging her partner Lief Siddhe nearly six minutes ahead of their nearest adversary Zedah Zoid. It would seem the comraderie in the University of Caille is much stronger than many had predicted.
I must say it was Lief who rescued me, not the other way around.
I simply freaked out at the WP2 shooting of Tak... by the time I reached the next system en route, I was completely blank as to which planet or belt the can was. I spent some six minutes stuck there.
After finding it, Lief guided me over the comms and helped me surge, even if I kept making navi mistakes after that. It was his cool head that helped me to the finish line. I am afraid that I may have bungled the best opportunity -shooting or not- to come in 1st, the track was that perfect for T1 racing last night with many short jumps.
Thanks Lief. You rock!
Having said that, my heart goes out to Kay and Tak, people I admire as racers and cherish as friends. I would love to see the camaraderie survive this test and come back stronger than the will to win.
Hugs,
-Q

Originally by: Takashi Kurosawa Well well, Kayleigh did you not know that cloaked ships aren't allowed in the League? After all, I haven't seen any of your team mates for many of the races this season. In fact, I do seem to recall one of the earlier races where Scavanger was present and managed to secure a 2nd place with you coming in on the top spot.
Circumstances have conspired to keep many of my team mates away from racing at one point or another throughout this season - circumstances ranging from wars, to unavoidable compromises planetside on Sunday evenings, to the simple and old-fashioned occasional illness. I was fortunate, yes, to be able to gather as many team mates as I did for The Citadel, at such a crucial time.
It doesn't change the fact that among my team only I and Scavanger (who can not race on Sunday evenings) stand the slightest chance against you.
Originally by: Takashi Kurosawa If you desire for a fair and clean race next Sunday, so it shall be. Our racing skills shall be allowed to decide the winner of that race, if fate and Dragonstar allows.
That was always my intention: to have our skills (and not Ms. Blackheart's aim) decide the championship. The Dragonstar Racing Team is under strict orders to keep away from even targeting you on the next race. Obviously, we reserve the right to shoot back at anyone who might think to target us and meddle in the discussion of our title.
Originally by: Takashi Kurosawa But rest assured that your actions will not be forgotten once season 4 starts no matter the outcome of this season.
I am painfully aware of that, yes. I say again: I took no pleasure in what we did, but I stand by my decision. I am responsible for my team and for the defence of our title; I did what had to be done to make it truly a decision on skills and not on another team's aim.
And what's more, I hereby vow that as long as I remain team captain, Dragonstar won't ever shoot any opponents again unless a team messes with us first. In that case, as we have done in Season 3, we will do what needs to be done to make sure the field goes back to being level.

Thank you, Quin. I truly hope once heads cool and Season 3 is behind us all - whatever the outcome - that indeed it might be possible to revive the camaraderie. And yet I am aware that my actions have consequences and I may have ruined a cordial relationship with Takashi forever.
I also hope my word is still worth anything among the racing pilots because I will stand by my vow that Dragonstar won't ever shoot again unless another team decides to mess with us and interfere in our discussions for a position.
Because you see - and I aim my words now mostly at Ms Zion - I do most certainly not enjoy the bloodshed, much less when I'm pulling the trigger on someone I still consider a fair, honest pilot and for whom I hold great respect.

You see, Lief, the trouble here is not just about having more at stake - although that is certainly a big part of it: both Takashi and I have reputations to defend, and Dragonstar is proud to be champion of the league and will fight on the track for the prestige of wearing that title for another season.
The trouble is one of history. There is quite a bit of history between Takashi/PATRI and me/DS and up to this point everything had been cordial, a friendly rivalry if you will. The moment guns are wielded, something cracks in that picture and things go a little sour.
I fully understand how Takashi is feeling right now - I know what it felt like to have the rug taken from under my feet back in race one. But once again: I stand by my decision. The Interceptor title would not really have been about piloting skill unless both me and Takashi had had the rug pulled out from under us at some point, would it? I feel like a broken record but this is really what we were doing out there last night: leveling the field.

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 03/10/2007 13:15:50 That race saw the closest finish to date - it still remains uncertain whether or not I managed to dock before Kanunu did. I was the first of 5 pilots to finish within the space of one minute, and I really was quite relieved; I had jostling for second position for the last 8 waypoints. In the end, all three of us warped to the finish line at almost exactly the same moment, and I nosed ahead of Quin by the narrowest of margins.
The rivalry between Dragonstar and The Patriot Society has made this season much more colourful, and the final deciding race is going to be a thrilling event. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

Update After reviewing the waypoints from the previous event in the Citadel, it has been revealed from the logs that Dragonstar pilot Jikomanzoku not accessing several of the containers. After some discussion with the pilot in question it has been determined that there was a malfunction while attempting to access the waypoints and that he contacted his team for details of the next point. While I believe it was not intentional and that he was actually at the waypoints, there is no tangible way of validating his presence at their location. In the interests of fairness I have removed his placement and adjusted the scores accordingly.
I do hope this doesn't reflect negatively on the pilot or their perspective of this League for taking this course of action. Dragonstar has come to be a staple of the League and the team to beat, and I would very much like to see all of them competing in future events.

We were aware of Jikomanzoku's difficulties during the race, and he himself publicly announced on the racing channel he might have missed some waypoint cans, although he was present there in the vicinity of the cans. Obviously the Dragonstar Racing Team understands the need for retracting Jiko's score from Race 9.
We also hope nobody out there views this as an attempt to "cheat", of which Dragonstar has been accused earlier in the season. There was no cheating. Jiko was there at the cans. He was simply having equipment malfunction, and decided to carry on in the hopes the malfunction was just on his sensors. It turns out it was deeper than that and the cans didn't register his presence.

The situation seems to be much the same as before - Dragonstar can still pull off a win in the interceptors corp league, but it's going to be a bit harder and it could go either way depending on how many pilots show up on each side. Go KJ! Me and so many women of Lirsautton are cheering for you!
I just returned from a week long tour of the Kahri district in Lirsautton IV. It's a real run-down area with a predominantly lower-class Jing Ko population. On the last day me and my entourage just walked the streets as I had no bookings. Normally women approach me asking for various favors and to bring certain issues to light, but all I heard that day was KJ this and KJ that!
I didn't fully appreciate it until then, but you know...you have really come to represent the Jin Mei women so well in your own way. Your calm demeanor, your desire for self-excellence, your individual strength and your general ability to kick those boys ass...it's little wonder you have such a big following in your homeland.
I threw some ISK down around Kahri and many other districts to rent out the major holoscreen outlets. I also hired a team of media savvy people to ensure that there will be venues all across the major districts in Lirsautton for people to come and watch, all for free. Instead of the usual schedule of fat Sang Do watching their boring-ass sports, the place will be packed with women watching the race. Eat that boys!
Know that we'll all be watching and cheering you on. I hope you bring that title home, it will give them something to latch on to, something to be happy about, a moment to be proud of.

Thank you so much for your support, Ms Yahn'ko. And an even bigger thank you to all the women of Lirsautton; I wasn't aware I had such a following back home. I suppose I should visit more in between seasons. I should, however point out that I would surely not be where I am without the loving support of Dragonstar - my corp mates, my team mates. I am not flying alone out there.
I will do my best to bring the title home. And yet the possibility that it will instead move on to Mr. Kurosawa and the Patriot Society team is very high. But I am not worried. It will be a test of skill; if I come in second there will be no shame at all. Being vice-champion to someone as good, respected and integer as Mr. Kurosawa is, is no shame at all.
But I would still prefer to bring the title home. *smiles* Thank you so much for your support.

Thank you, Kendar, my dear friend.
I first started as a rookie racer when the 2nd second season was drawing to a close, managing to get a few races under my belt before the end of the season. In those first races I made as many mistakes as anyone (all the classics, let me tell you!), but fortunately I managed to get rid of most of those mistakes to undertake the 3rd season with a hopeful feeling that I could at least finish on the podium when all was said and done. I did certainly not expect to be able to contend so closely with Ms. Jamieson, seeing how comfortably she managed to bring the trophy home in season two and considering she would have a team of talented Dragonstar racers at her side, with me the sole representative from The Patriot Society.
Yet, here we are, on the brink of the final race of the season, and have what I'm told is the closest finish in the history of the League. Who would have guessed? Not this Intaki, at least. Ms. Jamieson and I have had many exhilarating and close races, and I fully expect this last one to be the same, with skill, luck and circumstance having equal stakes in deciding the final outcome.
I wish everyone a good race come Sunday. May your ion trails burn brightly as beacons as we make our final sprint of the season.

OVERVIEW The tenth and final race of the evening was held in the Derelik region, home of the Ammatar Mandate. Racers were tense and the crowd enthusiastic as the interceptor class remained open to contention between top pilots Kayleigh Jamieson from Dragonstar and Takashi Kurosawa of the Patriot Society. With all three other classes champions already sealed, the interceptor class saw a sudden surge in participation as people experimented and crossed over from their usual configurations and newer entrants made their debut.
Dragonstar racing veteran Scavanger and Kanunu emerged from the vaccuum to defend their captain in Ares intereceptors. The Ares has proven to be the mainstay of the interceptor competition this season, with half the pilots in this race alone manning the Roden Shipyards designed hull. Quintrala, individual frigate champion and perky Gallentean redhead, startled the audience when she emerged in an ominous green Malediction. Assault Frigate season champion Dougalar strode into action in her Claw interceptor, while newcomers Adeste Fideles and Kirjava made their introductions in Caldari-designed Crow and Raptor class interceptors respectively. Takashi Kurosawa stood alone in his signature Stiletto, despite his egg being dislodged from one of their hulls last race.
Despite having a consistent season standing behind Mr. Kurosawa, Kayleigh Jamieson is a prime example of someone who excels under pressure. Holding the lead nearly the halfway through the race, a malfunction at waypoint six allowed Takashi and others to gain the lead on her for a short period before she caught up and overtook him once again. With constant pressure from her teammate Scavanger, Kayleigh wasn't the only one feeling the pressure that eventually did the Intaki born pilot in. The culmination of poor navigation ultimately caught up to Mr. Kurosawa, who was clearly not as focused as previous events, and led him to a third place finish behind the Dragonstar duo. Team Dragonstar proved once again without a shadow of a doubt their superior teamwork and dedication that made them the team to beat this season.
The frigate class proved much tamer in comparison, with late season UC bloomer Lief Siddhe securing first place in Quintrala's absence with a Rifter-class vessel. Eve University's Zedah Zoid slipped into second place, just twelve seconds ahead of Zelseus, while Sera Mujarkian's Incursus meandered in at fourth place. Racing newcomer Chebri made an impressive closing finish in her Rifter.
Kazuo Ishiguro braved the lonely vaccuum as the sole competitor of the assault frigate class, simultaneously scoring first and last place this evening. Congratulations to him for earning his racing fee back, and for being this season's champion Destroyer pilot.

Ladies and Gentleman, As CEO and lead event coordinator, it is my utmost pleasure to announce the third season winners for the ISGC Racing League championships.
Ten events strewn across Empire-controlled regions in the known universe, with over thirty-five pilots and twenty-five corporations pitted against one another through four ship classes for over five hundred million ISK in prizes and the coveted titles of league champion. Brazen hotshots clashed against seasoned veterans, inviting a whole new generation of leaders to beat when the time comes next season. A new generation of reckless, speed-crazed sociopaths blazing through the frozen vaccuum in search of the next great challenge. So without further ado, on behalf of the Interstellar Gaming Consortium, I would like to congratulate the following:
Quintrala University of Caille Individual Frigate Champion: 225 pts 61,875,000ISK
Kayleigh Jamieson Dragonstar Individual Interceptor Champion: 218 pts
Dougalar Imperium Technologies Individual Assault Frigate Champion: 166 pts 61,875,000ISK
Kazuo Ishiguro House of Marbles Individual Destroyer Champion: 101 pts 71,875,000ISK (+Caldari Navy Caracal)

Congratulations to all of this season's winners. Especially Kazuo, who managed to win the Navy Caracal he's been trying to give away for the past two seasons and will probably win it again next season as well.
On behalf of the Interstellar Gaming Consortium, I would like to thank our sponsors and all those pilots who participated in this season and helped shape the event to be as successful as it was. You all are what make these races so wonderful. We look forward to seeing you all next season along with many new faces in making the Racing League even better than the last.

It was a great race, and not just because of my first victory. I'd like to once again congratulate all the season winners and especially my Speed Fairy.
It has been really fun and exciting, and although I only joined in the last few races, I have nothing but praise for the whole season and the work done by ISGC to organize it.
A rather nice, although relatively calm party, took place after the race in the Daredevil's Lounge, and we had an ISD journalist monitor the race and interview some of the contestants - so it surely must be proof that the whole racing scene is growing. Hopefully even more teams will be able to get pilots to race for them next season now that new sponsorships have been contracted!

It has been a long and hard fought season with moments of sadness, frustration, happiness and glory for everyone. We're looking forward to Season 4 and hope our new team will challenge the leaders for wins more often.

Edited by: Quintrala on 08/10/2007 12:25:10 Edited by: Quintrala on 08/10/2007 12:19:55 Ah, so many people to congratulate now!
First, congratulations Kayleigh for an amazing victory, way to go girl!
And Takashi, your sportmanship is no less amazing. I totally admire the way you have handled things - truly the mark of a great guy.
Congratulations Doctor Ishiguro for a well-deserved win in the Destroyer class. You actually deserve quite more, being the mind behind theory and numbers all modern racers use...
And Dougalar, getting that title even after being shot so many times is quite impressive
Originally by: Gyra Rho Quintrala, individual frigate champion and perky Gallentean redhead, startled the audience when she emerged in an ominous green Malediction.
Well, it was a sudden and risky ship switch but I hope everyone will understand... I simply had to give it a try! (Tell me more)
A final congratulation goes to my team mate Lief Siddhe. Without him, the University of Caille would not have been able to claim all ten races in the frigate circuit, unbeaten. I am sure he will be a fitting lead for our frigate team next season and then, who knows
Anyway, I am very proud of what we accomplished this season, this really shows us that we can go toe-to-toe with the pros, and will give us the confidence to field a more organized team. As promised, I have split my prize equally among all of us that have participated either by racing or tinkering for the UC team. This should not be necessary next season, as we are taking the corporate pot home, muahaha...
I look forward to a very interesting 4th Season with ISGC.
Cheers!

I would like to congratulate all the Season 3 champions on their achievements. Well done, Quintrala, Dougalar and Kazuo. Congratulations to the Minmatar United Freedom Front, House of Marbles and Imperium Technology teams. I look forward to meeting all of you once again in Season 4.
A special mention goes to Takashi: I and in fact all of Dragonstar hold the deepest respect for you. A vice-championship on your very first complete season is something to celebrate in and of itself. We look forward to seeing what challenges you will bring to us in Season 4 with team Venture.
As for us, the Dragonstar Racing Team and the Dragonstar corporation are in celebration. We are elated about having managed to retain our title as champions. We thank all the fans and all the sponsors we had along the Season, but especially the following: Roden Shipyards - for their fine, fine vessels. The Glamour Bunnies - for assorted but precious bits and pieces at the beginning of the season. Mr. Kendar Zek - for paying entry fees for Kayleigh and Scavanger for the entire season, and for assorted raw materials. Ms. Kalahari Wayrest - my number one fan and personal sponsor. Ms. Carlani Hudson - for all the friendship and support, and for helping me keep my sanity in tough times.
And last but not least:
Ms. Nakatre Read - my love, my inspiration, my drive to excel. This title I dedicate you you.
Kay.
