Edited by: SonShadowCat on 08/06/2007 23:47:25 I'm currently using a maelstrom with lvl 5 skills and I was wondering if you guys think a low grade crystal set would be worth it over a +3 set. I'm using a T2 large booster and I'm not sure if the extra shield hp would really help that much during lvl 4s.
Yes I'm noob when it comes to implants.

Too bad Crystal implants effect shield boosters amount, not shield HP. ------------------- My opinions (ie, all of my posting here) are not my corporations. Nor should it be taken as such. |

You should be able to boost an obscene amount of shields with a lg crystal set, about 23% more than normal, you might just get into x-large boost amount with the maelstrom bonus.

for the money they cost your probably better getting a faction booster and / or hardners

I disagree with the FACTION stuffs
I too am a maelstrom Pilot. I have a tech I Amplifier, tech II XLG Booster, and 4 of the full 6 Low grade crystals set (+1,+2,+4,+5%'s). The bonus from those 4 alone is 18.6% and i only spent about 133 million on them. Even if you bought the BEST Faction Amplifier at 46.25% its just not comparable at its crazy millz price. (30%tech I amp x 18.6% [4 of 6 set]= 54%)
I only have Minny BS 3 atm, and my total bonus is about 89% (1133 on the XLG boosters 600) With BS 5, tech I Amp, and the same 4 low grade crystals i have, youd get about 1272 boost per cycle.
This ship can boost for ridiculous amounts and should be fitted that way. Now imagine BS 5, Full grade crystals (54%), X type Booster (800 per cycle)and lets say 2 Faction Amps (46.25%) 3502 Boost per cycle
I still havent had any problems at level 4 mishes, but then again, it is the maelstrom!

I'd use t2 XL booster but it cannot run 24/7 like my t2 large. With minny BS at V and 2 t1 shield amps, and 1% crystal implant it boosts 546. I'm hoping to have 3 more within 2 weeks which should let me breeze by most lvl 4s...

Maelstrom can boost 4850 HP every 4 seconds and tank the same DPS with averaged resist around 75 running a cap injector aswell.

Low-Grade Crystals (including Omega) cost about 340m and give 33.63% boost. No faction stuff gives that much of an increase for price.

Woooow, how? I managed to get 2.5k every 5 seconds max with 5 High-grade crystals, 1x boost amp, BS lvl 5, T2 XLBooster and a strong blue-pill booster. I'm thinking pith boost amp and booster right?

Pith X XL 2x Pith X Amps 2x DG Invuln 1x T2 Injector
DCU II
3x Resist Rigs
53.63% Crystal Set
30% Combat Booster
BS 5
840 x 1.375 x 1.5363 x 1.45 x 1.45 x 1.3 = 4849.95 HP

Thought so, very nsty indeed
How's it CPU wise though, must be a complete ***** to actually put guns on it with that setup, pith-x amp CPU requirements make me cry.

I was bored so wanted to see what the best tank i could get on a Maelstrom was a few months ago.
Was something like that i came up with and i didn`t bother to see if it was a non-gimped setup. But with a CPU mod, DCU II and 3 PDU/Gyros it would fit no problem i think.

Dont run it fulltime though. You cap out rather quick. _________________________________________________ Breetime

If you can fit it at all (only on a cap ship, it's 75k MW), then you can also make a fit to permarun it. _ New char creation guide | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

Edited by: Scarl3t Pimpernel on 09/06/2007 20:05:22 I thought up this setup a while back, requires some MAJOR isk input though... 8x Dual 650mm AC IIs
1x Capital Shield Booster 2x Copasetic SBAs 2x Dread Guristas Invuls 1x Chelm's Modified Heavy Cap Injector
5x Chelm's RCUs
2x PG Rig IIs 1x PG Rig I
All fits with AWU 5. The booster boosts 14442 per cycle. Provided you aren't nossed you get 63 seconds of activation, but you're not going to need permanent activation for 63 seconds, more like 1 boost every 1min or so The copasetics are needed to fit all the guns, 2x pith-x fit with 6x AC IIs. There might be some cosmos SBA i'm overlooking too which gives nice boost amount for less CPU.

Why not just use best named ACs (or faction for that matter) since damage is hardly your priority. That would surely free up enough to get in some nicer boost amps.
Why i'm offering advice on this fit i dont know. If this fit ever leaves quickfit for anyone, i'll be amazed.

My bad sorry, forgot the stacking penalty.
Which i think is 86.66% on second module.
