Edited by: Robert Swann on 09/06/2007 02:04:17 Yes, I got completely pwnt, and loved it.
Let me regale you with my tale of woe- Yes, my friends, I just completed the skills I needed to finish fitting out my Tristan fully. So I took a "break" from work, logged on with my 900K SP, shoehorned the last module onto my t1 frigate and warped my nub butt to a nearby lowsec system.
Hmm, 10 people in local but the belts are empty. Drat.
Next system. One person in local... let's try that belt. Bingo! Dang, it's an Enyo, and looks like he knows what he's doing, time to go...
Wait, is he targeting me? Oh, it's on like Donkey Kong now.
Lock, warp scram, web, fire, rockets, nos DAMMIT I FORGOT TO TURN ON THE DCU... repper... oh crap.
warpwarpwarpwarpyesIknowmyshipsoutofcontrolthanks phew.
My very first PVP experience was an absolute (if far too short) blast. I knew I'd be getting pwnzored a lot, so I bought something like 10 tristans and everything I need and put it in one place.
My hands were shaking for a good 10 minutes, and I'm still chuckling about it 3 hours later.
And the guy was very nice about it and offered me some good advice and friendly ribbing for going after him, even though my guns did a max of something like 8 pts damage. My gremlins did more damage. Need to work on those gunnery skills!
And look, a shiny killmail. I look forward to bringing the gospel of Alvis to you all in the future.

He was ratting, I believe. He was using Null ammo, or I wouldn't have lasted as long as I did (I got inside his best range).
And yes, this is an alt of a carebear main. Everyone needs to let off some steam from time to time.

Reminds me of my first day of eve.. except I only have about 16k sp hehehe
We took a frigate gang and killed a cruiser.. it was such a blast.
I got to -1.4 in my first two days of playing eve then went off and mined until i had 10 mil SP ... before i finally came back and became what I am now!
Such a fun experience :) Need something hauled? |

Well, I went out for some more fun last night after the servers stopped bouncing around but I couldn't find any targets. Every lowsec system I went to had 0 people at the belts no matter how many were in local, or had like one or two pilots from 2004 and major negative sec ratings.
How do you find targets? I don't mind getting blown up a lot, but there's not a lot of point to going after someone who's in a BS at my stage in my career.

This is the single biggest problem facing the average low-commitment PVPer. If you joined a large pirate corporation or any alliance, you'd get a good chance at fighting - but I'm guessing that's not really what you're looking for.
As it stands, the best way to find targets is to go to lowsec systems with good agents and/or bottlenecks. Aunanen in Lonetrek tends to be quite full, but bear in mind that engaging there will almost certainly result in death; there are usually gangs sitting in safespots waiting for someone to aggro, and at least sometimes there are sentry-tanking gate camps.
From a personal perspective: Way to go! Far too many people never get involved in what is the best part of this game; the Brown Trouser moment of engagement!

Yeah, I've been playing for a few days, destroyed 3 ships in PvP and gotten destroyed once myself. I have to say it's probably the most fun I've had in a game in a while, my heart was pounding the entire time, I had to go outside afterwards after every encounter just to cool off.

haha yup. it's the only game i have played where there is actually consequences to dying. no respawning, no being revived by ur gang member. the second u click that undock button u are risking losing the time put into it, and going out looking to do so is great fun.
I encourage all ppl in eve to do the same, even if it's only a t1 frig. if i'm in something then bring friends on t1 frigs and if u die who gives a damn. as ur wallet grows, as does ur ship value.

PVP is addictive. The rush may die down from time to time, and you might find that not all pvp is the same. I've been playing for around 3 years now and I still get the rush from good fights. Hope you get to see the fun shiny killmail of a different sort next time!

keep that rush forever.....
fly with a t2 bpo in the hold hehe..
J.K. But seriousley if it ever does die down try flying with a more expensive fitting/ship. Warping in in that 50-100 mill isk fitted T1 cruiser is an awsome buzz. or even better do it with a 300mill fitted isk t2 ship. --------------------------------------------------------------

T1 frigate fights are probably the most fun in eve, period.
Today I went out to Decon and found a Punisher ratting 120km off a belt, myself being in a Kestrel. So I warped out and came back and he was gone, he warped in on top of me and we orbited each other, him weaving in and out of my rocket range (when he left the range I reloaded). Finally I got through his armor and shredded his structure, lucky for him he nos'd me so bad the scram turned off.
Afterwords we were complimenting and conversing in local until the local trolls got roused.
