neutrons hit harder, they have better range, tracking ions have less PG demand, cap demand and larger ammo cartridge. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

neuts will compromise your setup in other ways, but iona definately are sweet on the ranis. but if you like phat hits neuts are the way to go

people seem to fit ions more often, not sure why. Must be something good about them.

Because neutrons take a lot of pg out of your ship grid.
Ion's are a compromise, allowing a better tank. Generally ion's are standard in fits, full-neutron fit is usually just pure gankfits, accompanied by 3 mag stabs or something.

Neutrons got higher fitting requirements, higher range, more falloff, but a bit badder tracking than ions + MOAR DAMIGE!
Ions got lower fitting requirements, lower range, lower faloff and a bit better tracking than neutrons + LEZZ DAMIGE!
those are the things you normally look at when differing from smaller and bigger guns in the gallente navy

If you can fit neutron blasters, do so. If not, fit ions.
Eg. I fit neutron blasters on a Taranis but ions on my Enyo. Nice thing about Neutrons is the near-7km effective range with null ammo, not to mention the higher overall damage. I've even done the maths for once and figured out that neutrons are better than ions on the taranis :)
