Hmm.
Today I crashed apon jumpin to a hostile gatecamp, for the first time ever. Rather annoyed me, since I missed a good fight, and lost my ship without even being online, which always sucks. I have petitoned, (which I very rarely do, but clearly this is a game fault...anyway another story)
My main point here is, if my cloak held and my ship didnt at once warp away, I would have been able to get back in (I was able to instantly relog..), and my ship would have still been in cloak, and the gang would have deloaked, and I would and I could have had a fun fight.
So the suggestion is, reguardless of game bugs whatever- people will always drop in jumpin everynow and then due to something stupid- is that if the game registered a disconnect/crash/whatever, that the ship HOLDS cloak for the standard time, and if the ships pilot has not relogged to take back control, THEN it engages emergancy warp.
Just my 2ISK, on what was a rather disappointing night.

Aye it was disappointing Major missed the fight, there was no bubble prior or after we jumped so I'm not sure why he didnt get a lagwarp.
Support the idea anyway, if you get a disconnect and have no aim to miss the combat it would be nice to have the chance to log back in. ---

/signed aswell Gate crashing happens quite often (suppose it has something to do with loading a lot in a short time)
But the cloak timer should hold longer (say a minute) if you crash/dc, others might not be as lucky as you to insta log back in (or unlucky .. considering you got blown to bits anyway)

Well, unlucky is most likey it.
The whole point of the idea, is those that disconnect to avoid combat are still crunched in the bubble, or whatever, just with a slight delay. Those that crash/drop without intention are still allowed to log back in and regain control before they die. A longer timer might help with that, even more so if it is a disconnect and not a CTD :)

How about just killing the energency warp while your ship is cloaked? Would solve this problem and have no real impact on logoffski.
I dont' even see a way to exploit it.

Edited by: Baron Serakh on 25/06/2007 12:15:25 This is similar to the issues I posted about on the "emergency warp" thread (which youre also welcome to reply to lol)
Bottom line is, people frequently loose ships, battles, systems, POS's etc in dubious circumstances - often controlled by the randomness of hardware issues, lag, overloading etc having an unpredictable effect on who sees who when, who gets in, who looses connection, who can turn their guns on and target, and who cant do anything but watch helplessly while their unresponsive ship is popped.
Clearly not great, but clearly a hard problem to solve.
Even getting petitions accpeted is next to impossible. I presume because CCP know they cant resore systems / fleets / POS s etc without knock on effects and complications in "well if this had happened then youd have enver done that so youve got to change this and this as well etc". It would be a minefield. Also, although you can say "we wouldnt have lost those ships" or "we would still have that Sov" know one really knows for sure how the fight would have ended if hardware inadequacies hadnt been the determining factor. Although obviously everyone 'thinks' they would have won.
Ive lost billions of isks worth of ships to these uncontrolable factors... everytime my petition is declined. And everytime I swear Ive had it with Eve. But then I always log back on again.
So. It sucks. And my idea is when people are dropped because of hardware capacity for the whole system to be frozen and further jump ins suspended until the system can catch up and deal with a certain % of the pilots simultainiously. Eg 80%. That means that an attacking fleet know they WILL appear at the gate simultainiously and the defnding fleet know that even if the node crashes they will all enter the game together in the correct defensive positions. They just might all have to wait 10 minutes for the fight to kick off. But at least it all be in sync and fight will be a proper one.
I wouldnt mind waiting for 10 minutes for the system to sort it self out so that we could all appear together and have a proper fleet fight.
Anyone got a better idea? Apart from "stfu this is eve live with it and stop whining". Which is what I normally tell people.
