I looked into patch notes and various updates and articles and such but i want the nitty gritty of what i've missed since just before the revelations update.
This was the time when goonfleet was rising in infamy with their bee swarm tactics taking down dreadnoughts but before the debacle (which i'm not 100% sure what that is, i just hear some buzz about it, no pun intended), when minmatar ships were being regarded still as flying scrap heaps, when lasers were bunk and missiles were all the rage because of skill requirements and so caldari were popular, when people were furiously petitioning getting rid of the learning skills all together, when titans existed only in blueprints and no one had yet to create one, so and so forth.
what's changed?

If I typed everything that had changed, my hands would be in traction for the next 2 months....

why did you evenbother to reply... i'm not asking for every single change, obviously. i'm talking about how the issues then have changed or were resolved, what the major issues are now. please, use a little common sense. i did read the forums. i did search around. i did read up where i could within a reasonable amount of effort. please just give me a clue in as to the more intricate headlines of modern day eve. i mean it took me a couple of months back then to figure out the who's who of the more complicated and intricate side of the eve-universe, and after that it was a matter of keeping up.
gimme a hand here... help me get back on track!

Edited by: l3lind Man on 11/06/2007 23:46:23 -new gang system with squads, commanders etc -escrow is gone, a system called 'contracts' has replaced it, does what escrow does and more (auctions, etc) -a new system called exploration, you can find hidden complexs, asteroid belts by means of exploration probes -a thing called invention, you trade in research points to R&D agents and add some other stuff in with a blueprint and you have a chance of getting a low efficiency t2 bpc of the same type -combat boosters, made from gas cloud harvesting, illegal drugs, you get the point -when a ship is destroyed, it leaves a wreck witch can be looted as before like a can, however with the use of a salvaging mod you can retrieve components from the wreck that are used to build rigs -rigs are 'implants' for your ship that use calibration points, t1 ships have 3 rigs slots, t2 ships have 2 rig slots - all ships have calibration points, t2 ships have more, you can find rigs on market under 'ship modifications' -new scanning and probing system is in, more skills, chance based to find ships based on signature radius i think -there is a new seamless map that lets you zoom out to solarsystem/universe views -8 new regions added inhabited only by drones -warp to zero is now in, all old bookmarks near gates and stations have been delited and you can now warp to things @ 0km -their has been another hitpoint increase -eve now has a built in voice system info here
many improvements and fixes have been made to the features implemented in revelations 1.. and there is probably a few more things that I have forgetten about
BoB is pwning a lot and they have 5 titans now? i think lots of other alliances have a titan also. i haven't really been involved in the 0.0 wars because I've been really inactive however take 5 minutes in the CAOD forums and you'll get an idea

Ships have a lot more hitpoints and stronger tanks. As a result, fights last a lot longer, and it's not uncommon to see two ships that simply cannot kill either other until one or the other runs out of cap boosters. This has resulted in the escalation of ganksquad warfare and the death of solo and small gang play. -Wrayeth n00b Extraordinaire

Rigs are cool but wayyyy over priced so it is better for most just to salvage wrecks and get paid for them.
When rigs go wayyyyyy down in price then still salvage but you can actualy make a rig for your self and it will be worth it.
Do what you want to EVE, as long as nothing fun is taken away and anything new is fun.

i have been reading alot of buzz on BoB... i'll take a loog at the caod forums... kinda scary.
and rigs sound cool but once more they're new, and therefore expensive it seems, just like all the other cool new toys back when i was playing that i had no access to as a noobie who wasn't rich yet...
well thanks for the news. i'll get to work. if anyone can remember any other important updates, i'd appreciate it :)

be double sure before you assume you have been deleted.
while they insure at least 6 months, admins and devs have come forward several times (when people say "delete old accounts to remove lag") to tell folks that the impact is basicly nothing, and more importantly they have not deleted any accounts and have no plan to do so in near future.

My take on rigs:
Since many of them require upwards of 300 components (and some close to or more than 500) and a frigate that happens to drop salvage components will usually only give up 2 or 3 (sometimes as much as 5) and cruiser/battlecruisers can give from 1-10 (usually the lower end in my experience), you will NOT see a significant drop in rig prices, because salvaging is much like chance-based rock mining. Those who enjoy mining often are already mining, and those who do not are often out missioning or pvping. Thus, the ratters and mission runners around Empire probably won't let their salvage go for much less than the current prices.
Half of the salvage is garbage, in my book, worth about as much as a civie shield booster-- I don't even bother putting up sell orders for them, just shove them back deeper in my hanger. Eventually either the balance of salvage components will shift, or some nerf will make the rigs they are for worthwhile, and I'll dump them then. I know a couple pilots who simply delete the stuff that is under a couple thousand each, figuring it helps prop up what demand there is.

You wonder the major thing that has changed? BoB won eve because they have their own hotline now. --- So I flame and troll when the occasion calls for it. So what are you gonna do about it? |
