Edited by: FarScape III on 12/06/2007 06:57:53 Yeah me to,
I have a ROCK solid internet connection and EVE just keeps disconnecting.
I swear this game has been the worst unstable game I ever played and I played lots f MMO's, too bad it is my favorite game ever.
Come on CCP, what's up with this? And I am no ware near Jita or any battles etc...
I'm just glad I did not disconnect when I was getting blown up by a pirate a while ago, I would not want to be thought of as a ctrl Q'er.
If I do disconnect when being attacked, I will log back on and find him and let him kill me.
Thanks CCP.
Do what you want to EVE, as long as nothing fun is taken away and anything new is fun.

First of all as many say it's a network issue. And for your information your rock solid internet connection is guaranteed only in your ISP network. What goes on between ASs is something that doesn't have to do with you having or not a rock solid connection.
I would suggest to talk to the help desk of your ISP. It's not CCP fault.

The cluster's actually hosted in London, AFAIK.
Otherwise, you're right. The problem is probably with their ISP. They've been having sporadic problems for a little while now.

Don't worry. Some computer geek will soon post and tell you why it isn't really CCP's fault and why you are an idiot for "whining" about not being able to play a game you are paying real money for.

once again check this website - global response times packet loss and general internet indicators are all down towards 60 ( 100 being peak performacne anything under 50 means the nets not working to well) 60 means there are some fairly major issues going on affecting everyone ( youtube has gone to h*ll as wel atm)

And what is the worst part? The worst part is that if you were to die due to something like this, they will tell you to shut up because it isnt in their logs, which is ********, if the problem has anything to do with connection it wont show in their logs it seems and then you wont get anything reimbursed :/ So everyone get to a safe :/
I got disconnected like 15 times in 30 minutes :/ --

Edit: And stop wining to CCP about it, there's nothing they can do as this is a global pipeline problem it seems, nothing to do except wait.
Hmm don't see anyone "whining to CCP" about it. I see a bunch of people discussing the issue though.
Nothing more predictable than "the voice of reason" people telling others to shut up when this happens. Take your own advice okay?
Oh and when it does come back up and we all log back on you are saying everyone should just stay docked into the hanger because it might happen again?
That sounds like resounding fun and the exact reason why I pay my subscription...thanks for that advice sir. After I am done with YOUR version of EvE, I am going to watch some paint dry as a nightcap.

Edited by: Jinhai Storm on 12/06/2007 08:18:34 Avonal, please don't troll. It's already been stated by several people who have cross-checked with Level 3 as well as the internet health reports that the problem is not EVE-related and CCP has no control over it. This appears to be a problem with one or more of the backbones of the net itself. It's affecting people globally whether they play EVE, WoW, Diablo 2 or are just surfing the web.
Edit: Hasak Rain, I was saying that because people in this thread and on other threads in the forum are going on as if this is CCP's fault. Without bothering to read the thread even, it seems. And my main reference was to the people whining about reimbursement already for lost ships when this problem isn't CCP's fault and therefore they don't NEED to compensate people for it.. any compensation that comes out of these problems should be taken with thanks for CCP's good-will gesture. ---

Seriously, some of you guys are so comical when the server blips off for a few minutes. Just take a 5 minute break, realise that there are going to be times when you cant access EVE for whatever reason and remember that Oveur has installed one of these above each of their employees beds, and each time the server goes down - that light be'a flashing and a' whirring.

5 Minutes? This has been going on all night and guess what? It did the same thing last night too.
I am sure most rational people understand that the game will crash occasionally but the key word here is "occasionally."
I think people would be more understanding if this was WoW or DAOC where a crash is no big deal but in a game where a big loss hurts and petitions have to be filled out to get stuff back and then they tell you "sorry no record of this occuring" maybe you should give us "whiners" a bit of slack?

We're all paying customers here, yes CCP has problems at the moment but this isn't really the place to duscuss patch bugs etc, there's plenty of other forum threads about this topic. As has been said numerous times, this is out of CCP's hands (unless you have a private connection to the EVE server...) as this is a connectivity issue with the main networks. Please go re-read this thread if this isn't clear.
A link was provided on page 1 for the internet traffic and health reports so you can go and see for yourself where the problems are. ---

And you need to learn how to read and comprehend. The problem lies within the Internet backbone and not at a specific server(s) of CCP. You are complaining about things that are faulty at the wrong company. I hope that this is something you can understand.

Edit: Anyway, I'm gonna do the SENSIBLE thing and just go and let it stabilise on it's own while I get some sleep.
Please keep in mind that for many such as myself this is their Peak Time. The daily downtime occurs at 11pm for the likes of me. While you go and sleep I'm missing the only opportunity I have to play for today. And as this is the third unstable night in a row and I only started playing this game 4 weeks ago (I'm hooked by the way) I begin to fear that this game will not allow me to play it.
Anyhow, seems to be a little better now. Two hours without dropping. But alas, as we head towards 11pm I see the usual "Go To Bed" or Server Downtime message.

Last time we had this issue (conection dropping before reaching CCP) it over a week for them to re-route around the problem. In the meantime 1 clever lil bear had put up his own bridge, ofc this was a EULA breach and everyone who used it to log on was allegedly banned. Lets hope for a more swift solution this time.

Losing a freighter + lots of expensive cargo, is not good. And i'm hoping ccp's kind enough to simply reimbursh those. If not, then why build something up in this game if the chance of losing it exists beyond your direct/indirect control?
It's the first time that this great game, made me feel it is not all that great. Really, i'm not a whiner normally, i like to work for results in eve, it's the challenge that keeps me mega motivated to put allot of effort into my corp. But that effort and results has just been destroyed by this spike.

Originally by: Jinhai Storm Edited by: Jinhai Storm on 12/06/2007 08:18:34 Avonal, please don't troll.
Yeah i am having no trouble with d2 but this is getting absurd. Worse if it isnt resolved in short order i am likely to start losing skill training time today. I dont put this on CCP but i would like at least some chance to fix my situation but i cant even log IN to do so.
As for compensation the only thing i could ask for is something CCP has said will not happen if hell froze over and pigs flew. Reimbursement of skill training time. I didnt lose anything financally but if this isnt resolved by this evening i am going to start losing time. Still i hope this gets fixed for once this likely ISNT ccp's fault

Edited by: Liang Nuren on 12/06/2007 15:50:10 I'm getting really tired of this crap ... I've lost ships, and popped a corpmates ship because of sudden module lag.
Then the servers are constantly bouncing around... I've lost training times because of the time the server's been down and I couldn't log on before I had to be somewhere.
This is getting really frustrating - if certain recent incidents with the goons don't lose membership, this certainly will.
Besides, its usually up to the company being affected to negotiate a "stop jacking with my routes" ticket with the offending backbone. So.. CCP... please... STOP JACKING WITH MY ROUTES!
Besides: how do you say its not their fault, when they were bouncing the server like mad a couple of days ago to resolve database issues?

when I looked at my connection last night (2100 Pacific time), the issue was constant with Limelight Networks addresses running up to the actual eve-online.com box. Each of them had at least one of the three packets sent timing out over 6-7 jumps. Up until I hit their networks, all of the RoadRunner hops that I had were fine, and generally sub 25's for times.
It may have been specific to users in the US, since the only obvious European IP's I saw on the trace were right at the end.

Umm.. If any of you happen to use PeerGuardian2 (or other software using the same blocklists), check that you aren't accidentally blocking the EVE servers.

Yeah, dropping up to 5 times a day, dropped earlier today and lost a nightmare because of it, which is annoing to say the least, awaiting a petition response but hey, petitions have been getting answered fast lately, last 3 DC related losses were answered within an hour or so. - The mods shall not have my sig, if they do i'll kill CCP's hamsters.

I saw the exact same thing. It appeared to be the peering point between Roadrunner and Limelight suffering 50-80% packet loss. It went on for a couple hours, and cost me some training time. _____________________ Your signature exceeds the maximum allowed dimensions of 400x120 pixels -Sahwoolo Etoophie ([email protected]) |

i finally got another reply to my petition. while i'm not supposed to quote gm's on the forums, i thought that this info is relevant to our issues.
Quote: We've been in contact with our providers about recent connection problems but unfortunately I don't have any information to give you yet. I do ask your patience though.
which is all i've been asking for since the 5th. i'm not gonna break out the waaambulance and harp about how ccp has wronged me, but i did find it funny that they were trying to point this at me for a solid week. good to know that someone is actually doing something about it though. --gordo |
