Just a warning, not sure if this was bad luck / by design or what.
I occasionally check out a L4 financial agent near to my main one to see if he'll give a decent combat mission. I was offered a really easy delivery mission so just thought I'd fly it for a few easy ISK.
However when my next important mission came up, I'd done 15 level 4 combat missions and 1 L4 delivery mission.
The reward was really, really poor. Sub a mill completion, and sub a mill time bonus. No implant, no nothing!
Just a warning really, I'm going to stick to 100% combat.

I'm sticking to 100% combat missions, and I have the same "important" mission rewards as what you described, every time ... and that nasty storyline agent insists on sending me delivering 5000m¦ of stuff in low sec for 1M5 ... NO WAY ! <~ sig starts here My Skills

i have had 3 important missions since starting lvl 4s. and i only run kill missions from an internal security agent. 2 were courier missions for 5.5 mill total reward and one was a trade mission for i think 5 mill again. i used to get more from my lvl 3s.

hey hey
I do mainly courier missions and get a variety of kill/courier storylines.
the last courier storyline gave me 8.4% faction gain and the last Kill mision gave 8.4% faction gain.
Kill mission was A case of Kidnapping and the reward was just isk and barely 2mil :( Both my recent couriers gave implants.
I dont think its a fixed mission ratio or reward.

Afaict, the only things that influence the type of storyline you get are faction/level (duh), the location of your 16 completion (because the storyline agent will usually be the one nearest that location), and the division of the storyline agent--though that last one isn't ironclad. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

The only thing that influences which storylines you get is faction and level. Not storyline agent division, not normal agent division, not what kind of missions you ran. You just get a random mission out of the level X pool for the Y faction.
My last one was to haul 40K m¦ of **** over 8 jumps. Even in highsec I couldn't be arsed to do that since I have neither a freighter nor Itty5 skills nor high end cargo expanders. So it would have taken me four trips in a Bestower. 64 jumps. For 5 mil reward and a crappy standing increase? No thanks.
Thank you SkyFlyer!

There must be something messed up. I just got a 4 million ISK + 1 million time bonus for a delivery mission based on some Level III grinding I've been doing to get my refining out of tax (6.67) at CreoDron. And that's the second one. I got one from the 3 -1-bazillion agent I started with. Phoenix Logistics Industries

I just drop 30 containers onto my alt, then fly the rest myself.
Declining a storyline means you have to run another 16 missions. Mind you, I am doing missions for faction as the LP prices are kind of waste atm, imho.

last night i got my 4th ever important mission. bearin in mind one was a trade mission and two were cargo delivery, i was praying for something more exciting. no, again, for the 3rd time in 4 missions, i got special delivery. 40km3 of ****e to be delivered for 5.5 mill reward. i got better rewards from TWO lvl 3 important missions than i have had on FOUR lvl 4 ones.
the mission generator should REALLY look at what you have already been given ffs.

Hauling 40k m¦ definitely is a pain in the ***, but this mission gives a nice faction standing boost. And if u do it often enough...there's some nice faction ships waiting for u nearly for free in every cosmos, so get done with it and enjoy ur shiny navy raven

Thanks for the replies. Seems like it must have been random bad luck. I thnk almost all L4 important missions gave me at least a +3 and sometimes a +4 implant.
It's just a bit crap that the special "one in sixteen" mission gives me worse rewards than the standard missions I've been doing.
If my little ol' standard agent can dig into his pocket for rewards, then you'd have thought the mighty Minmatar Republic entire bloody faction could rustle up some sort of decent reward for me!
(Cough ... yeah, ok, get the jokes about Minmatar not having two pennies to rub together, duct tape etc. out of the way now! )

Crappy standing increase? Hmmm... This (a pain in the a**e it is) is one of the best storylines as far as the faction increase is concerned.
Now you have to do another 16 "normal" missions to be with just about the same chance to be asked to deliver the very same containers...

For some of us, a standing increase *is not* a good thing. If the standings with the rivaling faction are already bad, we need to watch out for the negative derived modifications. I won't get a neg derived standing hit for a crappy 5M. |

Yep - good point there. It's what drives you... No universal solutions.
Just spent an hour and a half gaining 0.12 points - A Case of Kidnapping. 8.55->8.67. 11 jumps in a CNR to get there (my reprocessing tax with PMG is finally a big fat zero - woohoo! ), 11 jumps back. Plus my other character was driving a hauler to bring 6K m3 of loot and salvage back "home". 21-odd mil in bonus and bounties is nice but I'd rather have higher faction standing increase and no isk. I know how to make isk elsewhere - those special missions are the only place where your faction standing goes up. But that's me and your mileage may vary

did all kill missions for my l4 agent, got 2x 40000m3 transport missions, and 1 kill storyline, crap reward for the transport ones, don't remember what i got for the kill mission, probably some implant, should look in my hanger sometime.. then again could have been one of those 5% implants that are flooded in the market because so many people get them from story lines.
speaking of story lines i should be close to another one. ran a crapload of l3s in hopes of low level offers that gave good isk before the patch. didnt get the offers yet doubting ill get the offer tmr. but at least i got an angels strike.

The rewards aren't a particularly big thing to me, they're nice but not essential - i got a full head of +3s from them, but i'm going for the faction standing, for the navy issue bpcs and so i can go for the higher cosmos agents.

Been grinding level 3 missions over the last few days trying to get a level 4 agent. Standings have been time consuming. So for me when the important mission came it was a standings increase....
I needed that more then isk, doesn't really affect you as you are already running them, just thought I would mention that standings are important to a few out there still.

As far as I am aware, with gallente/caldari standings for instance, you cant go below -5 caldari base standing from doing gallente storylines.
You have to actually shoot caldari to drop your standings with them properly.
This is cause the gallente/caldari faction standigns are at -5, so that is the cap for derived standings modifications.
