Is it just me who is badly dissapointed with the new listed chages in Rev 2?
I mean, i fly a Curse + Pilgrim and i would still love a major nos nerf.
Ill finally be able to take out cap dependent ships solo again, as opposed to flying nos ships just to stay competitive nowdays :-/
Personally a blanket 25% nerf to amount, and much higher fittings would do for me personally
And if the devs are feeling generous give nos ships a larger bonus, but tbh i would gladly take the loss of my fav recon so i can fly my demios/zealot/geddon/thron/hyperion (with no nos)

There's a special place for people like you...
Hell...
Alas... I do think you are right that a nerf is on the way, and that when not flying my Pilgrim, I will enjoy that nerf, but I want the nos ships to stay effective... it's like the only thing Amarr has going for them anymore.

I like NOS to some degree, but wouldn't mind a nerf, as we'd see more Guns than capdrainers.

Learn to read.......
There is this new feature called "Heat" that is coming. My guess is that weapons that are overclocked will suffer less then nos that is overclocked. (As in Nos will fry sooner then conventional weapons.)
HEAT is a coming and it's gonna be cool.

A possible NOS nerf would be to add heat to racks of mods if you are over-charging your own capacitor with the drained energy of other ships. Would make a bit of sense and tone down NOS at the same time.

Nos sucks heat along with cap.... so the other ship overheats slower and yours overheats faster.
Would be interesting at least. -- t20: "So Let us play and enjoy the game you and I both love on the same level." |

no now we have rigs etc, you'd see more 1v1 stalemates as no-one would be able to break each other tanks.
nos is/was fine as it is/was.

Nos is not fine, it gets the job done for some ships sure, but it's not fine as some other ships are obsolete right out of the drawing board because of them.
I personaly have nothing against variety, nor do I have anything against some ships or setups being a bit better than others in their specified roles.
But when one thing works too well you don't have variety anymore, you simply have a bunch of munchkins all running around with the same setup and ship just to stay competitive.
One of the major rubs with EVE is that it has taken CCP forever to truly balance PVP in a way that didn't cause the breakage of something serious... Nerf one thing, you might be boosting another, boost another thing, your nerfing yet another.
My own view of EVE tank/nos issue:
Tanking was done all wrong period. There should be NO such thing as an "unbreakable" tank EVER. It creates a a binary flaw in the PVP dynamic which states: If I don't deal X DPS, or X cap drain per second, I will not even scratch the paint of Y tanked ship.
THIS IS BAD.
IMHO shield boosters/passives and armor reps, should have their duration doubled, or their HP Regen halved.
Reppers and even shield boosters should be something that gives you A: An small edge during combat. B: A way to repair damage BETWEEN combat.
They should not: A: Provide a way for a player to take NO effective damage to their ship. B: Represent the main key to killing a ship.
IF Repping was drastically reduced (by half as I suggest just as an arbitrary amount) some changes would immediately occur:
1: Nos would become a bit less powerful because now you don't have to shut down a tank to kill a ship, you just have to kill it outright faster than you get killed. IF your guns do enough damage, you won't have to worry about Nos effects because you can kill the ship before he can shut down your guns. 2: Battles might become too short again, CCP could easily just boost HP (and shield recharge rates for balance) to make it take that much longer to kill a ship.
Ok so what about those ships that REQUIRE a strong tank to even kill things (Blaster ships etc). This could be remedied by other fixes if it is truly needed... But by and large a blaster ship doesn't necessarily have a thicker or better tank than the target, they have instead just enough to get in close soon enough to kill...
As an experiment, mount undersized reppers/boosters to your ship in a 1v1 test, You should notice that the blaster ship has the same strengths and weakness as before because the victim is just as prone to the blaster ships offense as before.
About the only thing that would suffer greatly is the way missions are conducted, especially L4... CCP would have to slash the damage output of a spawn or no mission could be completed without fleets of logistics boats helping out the primary tanker.
A word on logistics: If repping/boosting/passive tanking was so nerfed, it would be a boon to logistics ships as they could be made to retain their current rep rates, or suffer a smaller Nerf. Having a repper ship in your gang would now be a serious asset, instead of a lackluster liability.
Anyway think about it... it could work for a lot of EVE issues. ********************************************* "Stars Die... Empires fall... We are dust..." ********************************************* |
