The patch notes say:

Can I ask for more information on the nature of these changes please, and how they will affect the existing fleet setup?

Imho that just means you can have squad etc commander that does gang warps, invites etc and a different person within the squad etc giving the bonuses if you assign that role to a person different from the squad etc commander.

Still unable to use the Tag function when you are a Wing or Squad Commander though

official clarification plz
does this mean i wasted several weeks for wing and fleetcommand skills for nothing (well, double nothing to be honest as i could boost better/easier before kali without those skills)? or do i need the skills to assign this role? (ending in no change at all)
and will i boost the whole fleet now while being a normal squadmember? (prolly not as i consider every gangassist change as worst case)
and please also clarify: "There can be only one of each type in each fleet, wing and squadron." ja was denn nun? fleet, wing or squadron? in my imagination "one of each type in each fleet" already excludes wing and/or squadron...
please tell me this is not another slap in the face for people which sacrificed a lot of training time for (real) gang assist for supporting other players as kali already was.
the intention behind the change is prolly to reduce lag again and i know shamis made the suggestion to simply assign the role who actually is boosting instead of forcing us in positions which we do not want (while still calculating who provides the highest boni) but please donŠt make it worse than it already is... (depending on other people having leadership 5 so that the squads actually do get the boni (but the sc not), limited groups which i can boost up to the position i am actually in (whole fleet, one wing or just a squad)
if you want to make it better get rid of this fleet, wing and squadron stuff/limitations. i know our boys donŠt use it at all if there is no commandship with modules running. its just a pain in the ass and absolutely unneccessary for a disciplined fleet anyway. give us the possibility to assign the role who actually is boosting skirmish/info/armor/siege for reducing lag and let all the 4 assigned ones boost the whole fleet again.

I think you still need the squad/wing/fleet skills to give bonuses, you just dont need to be in the leader position any more to give them.

1 New position settable by the squad wing or fleet allow them to be the designate a 'Leuitennant' if you will that will give out the bonuses instead of you who may be flying some bad ass battleship or carrier instead while your gang boosting leuitennant is boosting the gang with his leadership instead. In other words the most bad ass fleet monkey in the group isnt in charge of the whole fleet anymore :) while the real fleet commander can be sitting at top called tagets out with broadcasts and the sorts. =========
