Edited by: Calderwook on 15/06/2007 20:09:42 Woo i guess i join the unlucky ranks of the random people that cant log on no mater what. Have tried clearing cache and reinstalling but still cant connect. I did recently have the safari beta installed but thats gone to no avail. Network settings are as they should be. Not being blocked by my firewall or routers firewall. Any ideas?

Dear Calderwook,
If you can't connect to eve after installing a new program especially a beta one... then maybe by uninstalling the new program, eve will work again?

has been the same for me for a few days now too, i just get status:unknown and i have not installed anything weird or wonderful recently that might be doing this.
i have tried clearing the cache and checked all relevant firewall settings and everything looks as it should be.

Edited by: Calderwook on 17/06/2007 10:42:54 Edited by: Calderwook on 17/06/2007 10:42:06 As i said in my in the post it was gone, ie uninstalled and it made no difference guess i should have given a bit more detail of what i had tried to rectify the problem. I manged to sort it out last night tho as i did a system restore to a point before safari was installed and magically eve works fine again. S0 if your having similar problems and uninstalling safari and reinstalling eve and clearing cache etc makes no difference i would go for a system restore. Maybe Spawinte if you remember when you started getting the problem a restore point before that might work who knows.

Judging by the topics popularity this must be happening regularly to people.
I have the same problem status:unknown
Have restored system, re-installed eve all to no avail. Makes me think its @ the CCP end. Ping/Tracert seem fine. Anyone else any ideas?

ok System Restore shows something called software distribution service 2.0, this is the only thing installed close to the time i started getting status:unknown.
i dont want to restore to this point because i really dont know what the hell sds 2.0 is. i'm assuming its something that came in courtesy of windows update.
anyway just letting people know, maybe other people have this installed around the same time and are getting the same problem as me?

I also had this problem, turned out it was just being blocked by peerguardian. If anyone's running that check your permitted ip's. Not had any other problems.

same problem, have tried all the fixes, now downloading a new copy of the client. haven't installed or changed anything, just switched on one day, and the "connection closed" mesaage appears. downloading patches appears to work, so the connection appears to exist, but will not log into the game no matter how much cursing is used. my connection has been down for around 5 days now. just wondering if ccp will reimburse those affected with additional days service, costs can be recovered from whichever isp is causing the problem...if it's not an internal error.

if you are sure your firewall is not the problem, you could try and reset your protocol stack. However, the chances of this fixing it are probably nil if you can get internet access without a problem.
Netsh interface ip reset all
Netsh interface reset all
Netsh interface winsock reset all
Try this command as well ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt

yep sorry that you tested out the safari beta.
that's totally bugged and everyone who tested it out (eve players) got a huge problem to login.
best try:
uninstall registry cleaner if you are a windows pro: manually delete the registry entries out.

A couple of people replying to this thread seem to be in the same boat as me so i will bump this thread instead of making a new one amidst all the patch day chaos.
Firstly the problem i am having is NOT related to safari beta, i didnt even know what safari was until it stopped people from connecting.
I logged on at about 2am here to see if my client would autopatch and it has but when i try to connect its the same as before. I just get status : unknown every single time as if the servers are permanently down.
I have tried deactivating all resident antivirus protection and switched off the firewall, cleared some weird caches that i never even knew existed and just generally messed with everything for the last six days trying to get connected but with no success.
My last throw of the dice was restoring my system to a point 2 days before the problem started and even this has not worked. As i posted before i am able to ping TQ and get a response just fine AND the client even autopatched to REV II. It simply will not allow me to connect.
I am really at my wits end with this and any and all ideas/suggestions will be much appreciated.
