Would it be possible to run a curse setup that allows for PvE instead of the usual pvp? I am thinking something along the lines of...
4x heavy missile launchers 1x remote rep(if it fits, for drones)
1x AB II *rest of slots for shield tank*
1x DC 2x BCU 1x *something useful*

Why would you want to pve in a 100mil cruiser and not even use it's nos bonus? *confused *

Domis can tank and do heavier damage than the curse, and is a lot less expensive. But if you want try a curse in one of the medium difficulty level 4s lol

Its either that, or I use a zealot... people tend to say that both ideas are nuts, and that they are pvp ships only. Imo, NO ship is PURE pvp.
So the question stands, is the setup i suggested viable?

I'll go with a Armor tank tbh:
Rigs: 1x Armour Rep 1x Armour Time Or 2x Res. Rigs
Lows: 1x T2/Faction MAR 2x TS/DB EANM 1x T2 DC
Med: 1x T2/Faction AB rest is what ever keeps you sustained and your fancy.
Highs: 4x Launchers 1x Nos/Salvager
There are no ships in the game that are PvP or PvE specific. Some are better at one task than the other, but that does not make them useless in the opposite department.

Not going to harp on ya about using a curse for PvE... but, tbh.. if I was going to do it (which I probable will )... I'd only do L3's with it... until, at least.. NPC's are affected by NOS.
Kinda annoying that when you NOS an NPC frig.. you stop getting the cap.. but he'll always keep firing / webbing / scrambling.. etc.
Not too mention ALOT of level 4's are hazardous to your health if you use drones
My opinion is my own, not of my corp or my alliance. If you have problems, we can have a "who can do L4 missions faster" duel >:) |

hmm The setup you suggested is intriguing, but I doubt such a tank with 4 lowslots. I was thinking shield tank because the t2 resist boni go towards shields as well, and so the resits there are quite good as well.

Yeah, use heavy launchers and shieldtank. Stick some damage mods and cap regen (pdu II/cap flux II) in the lowslots.
No point at all not to use shieldtank really.

Not to be disagreeable with you, but the Curse is a Amarr Recon, there for the pilot is more likely to have better armor skill than shield, thats including the all important Compensation Skills. Thats why i suggested the armor tank solution.

Edited by: Aramendel on 16/06/2007 09:30:03 Firstly, it really depends what you want to do.
If it's missions, use the zealot. Too many missions have heavy drone aggro and the curse is no good longrange fighter. Just avoid gurista and angel missions since you cannot vary your damage type and will do very little dps vs them.
For beltratting the curse is better. Depending on the rat type you can deal 460-520 dps vs their weakest resistance with semi-maxxed skills while having approximately the same mobility in max speed and agility as an assault frig.
4 * arbi HAM, 1 * dim nos 1 t1 MWD, 1 t2 or faction *small* shield booster, 3 harderners, LSE2 3 BCU2, 1 co-pro2 (needs a DG co-pro if you use t2 HAM due to cpu problems) 2 mass reduction rigs (optional, but helps since you need to get within 10 km of the spawns) 1 light, 2 med, 2 heavy drones
No problem tanking top lvl gurista or angel spawns. Haven't fought serpentis or snasha/blood yet. For laser rats the zealot *might* be better due to better base resists and the same damagetypes, but the curse will still deal more dps.

Well, considering Khanid is the amarr version of caldari...
Also, you don't need EW in pve, what the hell are you going to do with 6 midslots? Using basic level shieldtanking doesn't take that many skills. Also just fyi, shield compensation skills are quite pointless, but I suppose you don't know that, since you don't seem to know anything about shieldtanking in general :P

It only takes a few days to train for tech2 hardeners and SB, so being specced in armor really isn't an excuse not to use shields tbh.
Shield tanked curse is better than armor tanked curse for pve... I'm somewhat ashamed to admit that I've tried both (I was bored ). Plus you can use a couple lows for BCS.

I know it's nutty but I use my speed fitted Curse for lvl 3 & 4 agent missions just replaced the E-War with an Active shield tank. It has 3 nos and 2 Missile launchers plus I also use a cap injector with 800s or 400s.
I wouldn't say it pwns but it certanly makes mission running a lot more interesting you gotta be on the ball to survive ~

Well i use my Curse for Exploration Sites and i use this "one size fits all" setup:
Highs: 4x Launchers (NPC specific damage) 1x Salvager
Mids: 1x AB T2 1x Analyzer 1x Codebreaker 3x CR T2
Lows: 1x MAR T2 2x TS EANM 1x DC T2
Drones: 5x Med, 5x Light (again NPC specific damage)
Rigs: i'm still undecided on this one.
As i only scan Mag and Radar sites there is nothing to change to my Curse's setup, i just jump in it and go.
I do know something about shield tanks, i trained a Raven so i can rat in Angel space as theres where my Alliance is based, and you're right in active tanking comp skills are useless, my Ravens only active tank.
Do you think that the Curse will have a good passive tank setup?
Btw i just did a Mag site with 6 BS and 3 Cruisers in it and all i have to say is: "I LOVE MY CURSE"

If you want to waste three hours on easy level 4 missions you could actually try that.
Or use a torp raven and do them in half an hour. Depends on you really.
I pew therefore I am.
