Since I started my own corp, I realized I have to start working on my leadership skills( had to for carrier anyway). My question is, will I, the gang leader, receive any bonuses from my own skills?
Also is there something special I have to do in order for my gang to receive the bonuses when I have the skill trained?

leadership lv 5 is for a "FLEET " of 10 people , with you as the Squad commander
when you grow bigger you will need more sqaud commander, or a wing commnder that can give the bonus to the sqaud members( with a sqaud leader), leader's will ONLY get there own bonus

The bonuses depend on you being in the "right" spot for the skills to flow - do a search and you will find the description to the spots and how the system works (to lazy to link them yet again).

Basics:
* turn gang into fleet * put everyone in 1 squad as squadmember * put the guy with the best leadership skills in squad commander position
Everyone will receive a bonus.
Problem is that the person with the best leadership skills isn't always the guy with the best skills to actually lead a fleet.

Correct
But there is no reason that person listed as squad, or Wing, or Fleet commander has to be the one giving orders.
Play nice while you butcher each other.

Rev 2.0 brings in the option to "delegate" the role of "booster" to another member in squad/wing/fleet, role than the previous squad/wing/fleet commander always had. _ New char creation guide | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

It used to be that the one with the highest skill level in a particular command skill gave the bonus to the gang. I took that to mean that if you had 2 guys in a gang and both had trained command skills, one for siege warfare and one for lets say skirmish warfare, you would get the bonuses from both guys..
How does it work in fleets currently? and how will it work after the patch?
Cause the description of the skills clearly state that you get the bonuses from the guy with the highest skill, though that seems to be out of date..
Would be nice to have some light shed on this.

You DO only get the bonus from the "highest skilled/implanted" member.
However, pre-Rev, you would get that from ANY member of your gang. In Rev 1.x, you only get it from the guys with commander roles (squad/wing/fleet). In Rev 2.0, commander can (only if he wants to) pick ANOTHER member of the squad/wing/fleet to "distribute" bonuses. _ New char creation guide | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

currently in fleets the leadership roles are tiered.
fleet commander / \ wing commanders / \ / \ squadron commanders
The benefits of any of the commanders leadership skills are passed down the command tree with the highest skill level affecting anyone below the possesser of the skill on the tree. For example say the fleet commander has armored warfare 4 but the commander of wing 1 has armored warfare 5. In this case everyone in wing 1 will recieve the benefits of armored warfare V as opposed to the fleet commander and wing two (including the commander of wing two who does not have a higher armored warfare skill then the fleet commander) who will only recieve the benefits of armored warfare IV.
Not too sure exactly how it will funtion after the patch. Probably similar to how it functions now with booster roles being delegated at all three command levels (of course I could be wrong)

Hmmm I am wondering if that is:-
a) a typical goonfleet layout b) The reason why carebear corps can't organise PvP.
