Has anyone even trained for these? I'm curious to see what experience people have had with heavy assault specializations.
Preferably on a Cerberus. What's the better DPS outcome? Heavy Assault Launchers II or the standard Heavy Launcher II?
I'm not too concerned about range, but what can I look to be getting with Heavy Assault IIs?

He's talking about Heavy Assault Missiles, not HACs. --- High quality pics of ALL EVE ships! |

Short version, +25% DPS compared to heavies, but only against large targets (125m explo radius, NOT reducible by skills nor rigs, while heavies can get down to 93.75m from skills alone, and more with rigs), and a pathetic range. High damage versions of ammo have an even further insanely low range and screw your cap badly, making them THE worst weapon of EVE, yes, even worse as lasers.
Also, you'll have trouble fiting T2 HAMLs on Cerberus due to the higher grid requirement... possible, but still, a bit harder. Personally, I find the Navy Caracal to be a slightly better HAML platform, even if it tends to die horribly compared to the Cerberus (and costs more).
P.S. A half-decent use of high-damage HAMs is a MWDing injected activetank Drake, one of the so-called "nobody expects the Spanish inquisition" fits that can pump out at max skills (and with 3 BCUs,also factoring in T2 thermal drones) about 540 DPS on kinetic (HAMLs) plus 100 DPS thermal (drones) for a grand total of around 640 DPS. Still, it's a "wet paper towel" tank, if anybody guesses you're using that, you might be history pretty fast. _ New char creation guide | Module/Rig stacknerfing explained |

In my opinion, Heavy Missiles are better for ships with a missile rate of fire bonus.
T2 Heavy Assualt missiles are good on ships like the Drake, the javelins are excellent imo. T2 H-Assaults are also good to fill up the last few slots on close range Minny ships.
Range will be about 15-20KM (depending on skills) on t1/rage, and about 80KM with javelins. On a cerb that is though.

Very nice except you're better off flying a brutix if you want to MWD a battlecruiser straight into enemy lines
Iron charge M: range 1.6x, damage 6.8/7.1
Antimatter charge M: range 0.5x (3 times smaller), damage 16.4/17.0 (~2x more damage)
The damage ratio between iron and antimatter would remain generally the same due to skills.
Compare to
Scourge HM: range 37.5, damage 150 (potentially higher on small targets due to signature/speed issues discussed above)
Terror AM: range 6.75 (6 times smaller), damage 100 (modded by skills - gets to be ~25% more damage than scourges, which is 1.25x)
So excuse me if I'm not overly thrilled by this junk CCP happily shoved upon missile users, but I think assault missiles were a poor band-aid measure not very well thought over.
