I am an exminer that has started to run missions. I have pretty good drone skills, and have been working on support skills (nav, mechanic, cap skills) for the past few months. No gunery skills to speak of. So i know i will be using drones to deal damage, and i have been using a vexor up till L3's. Now im wondering whether or not to go for a myrm or a domi. I have heard people say myrm for L3's and domi for L4's but im not sure why. I will only be using this ship for PVE, so i dont have to worry so much about ewar. Drone skills will include T2 heavies in a few weeks. So now that i have sufficiently rambled for a bit, which is better for L3/L4 missions, myrm or domi?

Myrmidon is better as long as you can tank the missions (imo) And the tank should be just fine for lvl 3's, even some (or most) of lvl 4's. They do the same damage anyway, Myrmidon is just slightly faster meaning if you can tank it you will do the missions faster ;) ---

In a Myrm I can do all the L3 missions but with care to choose the right group at once, only the 10 part storyline final stage in which you face 5 BS at once gives me problems to tank. If you can afford a dominix I think l3 is much easier just becouse you can carry lots of different drone and the tank is better (2 lar instead of 2 mar, one more low slot) and costs only 20mil more and in the meantime you can build your skills to l4 (t2 ogre, lar2, hardeners2 and some medium hybrid is requested to be effective in l4)

Ya, I tanked that mission last night on my myrm. Problem was more how long it took to take the BS'es down than the damage they did...
Myrm owns level 3's. Hard. I have 3mil sp, a hefty chunk of them in drones. I'm armor tanking, not using the soon-to-be-nerfed-mildly shield tanking version. I've never lost a myrm in a mission, and with a reasonable setup you won't either.
Domi gives me more problems atm, likely because of my low skills.

Some swear by passive tanked Myrmidons for mission running.
Not sure after this patch how viable it'll be though.

The Myrmidon is a dwarf compared to the Dominix (if you have the right skills)

Edited by: kill0rbunny on 19/06/2007 07:25:48 Can you package 5 sentries, 5 Heavies, some spare Heavies, Meds and Lights in the dronebay of a myrmidon? No?
Well there is your answer.
I pew therefore I am.

My myrm reps 460/s even after the shield nerf, and pretend you're planning on fighting kinetic dealing rats ( i think they're the most common rats in missions?) you'd have 85% kinetic resis whilst repping 460/s The rats will need to make over 3k dps to break your tank
