Odd issue, after the upgrade the game acquires game data, closes down that screen and then nothing happens... whatsoever.
I try to do it again and get this message:
Quote: The client's local session information is corrupt, probably as a result of failed cleanup during a disconnect. Connecting to the server in this state could lead to a rather unpleasant game experience. Please restart the client prior to logging in.
I cleared my cache, deleted my settings, even deleted the EVE-folder in My Documents... restart client, same thing happens over again. Same with my alt account.

Gave it a go, but still not working. The client starts and I can type my pass and press connect. It gets all the way to saying "Done Processing Data", then the progress bar goes away leaving the original login screen. Password is still populated, but pressing connect again, just gives me this msg:
"The client's local session information is corrupt, probably as a result of failed cleanup during a disconnect. Connecting to the server in this state could lead to a rather unpleasant game experience. Please restart the client prior to logging in."
Hopefully there is a solution out there...

Bleh... I deleted EVE (for the first time since I started playing the game) and reinstalled.
Now it worked, but I have to redo all my settings =P

Solved it!!!!!
It's caused by too many gamelogs.
I had ~3.5 years worth in the (old, pre-patch) ...\CCP\EVE\capture\Gamelogs directory - I zipped all but the last months worth into an archive, and now I can log in etc just fine, no warning message.

Darnit all. Same "need to be admin" problem. I tried messing around with allowing it to run as other users. Only prob is it still didn't work, and I *am* admin. Same symptoms as above posts, except I didn't tell the "need to be admin" warning to not show again :)
Argh. The most frustrating thing is that someone somewhere may have figured this out, but no one from CCP is collecting and reprocessing the info....
And no, it's not my gamelogs. I deleted them all :)

Same issue here, with exactly the same descriptions as the OP.
- not the game logs, this is a fresh install - never got a "you need to be admin" message
Anyone got any other ideas about this, it's very frustrating.

Had this problem when I downloaded the patch last night.
Ended up rebooting the system this morning and it all fired up ok without me having to do anything else.

Same here - i start EVE - connect to Server, but after that the initial Login-Screen is still there and if i try to press connect again i get the "Client local session information bla bla" message. Interesting is, that i am able to press ESC and get the Config window, which shows that i am running EVE in windowed 1024 mode - i tried to switch to fullscreen but it didn't solved the problem. The sad thing is, that i was able to launch and play EvE this morning. I logged out, and now i am not able to log in again and i am still in an unfinished mission :(

Edited by: Mathir on 20/06/2007 14:34:49 I (finally) got it to work by renaming the /cache and /capture subdirs in my Eve application subdirectory.
I guess the copies to my C: drive failed midway so didn't delete them - causing the client to "know" the copies didn't take because of insufficient authority. Or somehow the "catch up" code has a bug (never tested?) so the default failure is insufficient authority.
One time code is a b*tch to test, but still...
