when doing exploration since the patch i have only been able to pick up unknown sigs with the multispec probe, when i switch over to a more specific probe be it radar wuest or whatever all i get in the way of sigs are deadspace sigs. Are the easy plexes that replaced the old static plexes only going to show up as deadspace sigs and the other "True" exploration targets show up as what they are (ie, radar sig, gravimetric sig etc etc) or are all hidden sites going to be picked up as deadspace sig. I would really like to know so i dont waste a bunch of probes to find something i need no probes for. More importantly i would not like to waste my time looking for something i dont wasnt to find.

Umm I think you're trying to same thing I was thinking, but here's my view.
Before the patch when I droped a multispec probe in a system and saw an unknown signiture I would procced to drop Quest Probes at each planet to find the gated complex.
The problem is, if I do that now, the only thing I've turned up with my quests are the high signal strength encounters. At this point I don't know if the unknown signiture that I saw on my multispec scan is an actual escalation site or just the encounter.
My suggestion to solve this would be to have the small encounters not show up on a system wide multispec or to have them show up as something else other than unknown. I could sit in a system scanning all day not knowing if I'm scanning for an escalation or just scanning out the same encounter site over and over.

ya I found it afterwards... I'll save the cross-post though as people in that thread seem to have said it well enough.

Edited by: Verstar on 20/06/2007 10:22:28 Exploration is no longer an option until fixed.Unable to probe anything down, due to the amount of unknown time waste Signatures . Nothing to do until fixed sitting at computer screen head in hands. only solution i can think of is to give the deadspace signatures the same report as multispec probes. Dead space radar. Dead space gravimetric. Dead space unknown etc. All there deadspace unknowns whose intrested anyway what a waste of time.

As far as I can tell from a quick try after the patch last night, is this:
1) Drop a multispec probe and scan. 2) Unknown detected 3) Destroy probe and drop quests at all planets as usual 4) If u get a hit that drops you to zero metres from the site, IGNORE (unless you want the encounters), its a new encounter 5) rescan until you get a site that requires a sift or comb.

And if there is NO site that requires sift or comb? Will you sit there 1h? 5h? 10h? hoping for a hit?

You are just forced to do a bit of house cleaning first.
Go to all spots you would normally drop yout quest probes in. Use onboard scanner. After MAX 3 scans you know any encounter in range. Kill them. Repeat until system is "clean".
Now drop your multispec. If you get and "unknown" you have a plex/escalation somewhere.
You think this is hard?
Well, I remeber the time before multispecs. Now THAT was hard. (And fun btw, in a slightly masochisic kinda way...)

Um - tried doing that my all knowing friend yesterday. 6 encounters in system. After cleared 3 i got 3 NEW ones. Its pretty annoying and clearing em out takes LOTS of time.
No i didnt finish clearing the system. After spending 2,5h (time after which id scan out ALL sigs in system) just gave up and went to sleep. Dont like when game imitates RL work.

Um actually only thing that is "not worth" doing are unknown sites.
Radar/ladar/magneto/gravi are still easy to differ because the have scan str. of under 1 when other sites will have 3 and above.
