Hia! I have just started a trial and i would like to know if a "job" like mining would be compatible with studying lol From what iŠve seen it takes a while fot the cargo hold to get full, and then i only have to choose another asteroid to mine, so (if it is all there is to mining) i think i can be stuying, every 5 minutos or less change the asteroid and the warp to a station in auto-mode...
What do you think? thks (IŠll be playing full time as well... i wont play only when im stuying lol)

You can mine in a hauler also.
Park at roid and mine for hours...
Barges have a 3min cycle but need to be emptied often.
My best bet for you would be a Hauler with 1 miner and just slow mining. Al other options require you to be on every 5 min or so which is bad on concentration and stuff...
Alternatively learn to play the market, buy low sell high in low sec or 0.0 stations. Just be careful about gate campers.
You could also run hauling missions which are set destination and auto pilot wait...
There is a bunch of AFK stile play in Empire to do when doing other tasks.

Personally I use a Retriever and a jet can in high sec space. You can get set up, launch your warriors, and sit there and mine. I do my reading while mining to a jet can, and another guy in our corp has his Xbox set up next to his computer. Once the jetcan is full, it takes an Itty with three giant cans 3 trips to empty the sucker. all in all, a nice relaxing job.

Hauler = Industrial Ship (lots of cargo space, one turret for a single mining laser, no mining bonus)
Can take a long time to fill up.
Another path that is studying-friendly is hauler missions. Find an agent in an industrial NPC corp with production or storage or something similar as a specialty, and haul away.

Hauler=Industrial Ship. It only has one turret hardpoint so only one mining laser can be fitted, so it takes a looong while to fill up. I prefer to use a mining barge and did the following a lot while studying a year or so ago:
Warp to a belt Target a roid near you Mine til full Warp to station Empty cargo Rinse and repeat
Sure it's not the most efficient way to mine but if you stick to high value empire roids (scordite and plag are good now) then a 2-4 hour study session can net you a nice sum. Especially if you study for a few hours a day. It all adds up :) Aaron Rex - Remember the Scordite... The Fated |

They are the Industrial ships. (e.g. they require skills like Gallante Industrial, Amarr Industrial, etc.)
You won't be able to train that skill on your trial account, but if you end up mining (or even trading) you'll want one.
Whatever your race, I strongly suggest you train for the Bestower; which requires the Amarr Industrial skill.
The best industrial ship, in terms of size, is the Iteron V; which requires Gallante Industrial Level 5. That's a lot of training time. A Bestower with four T2 cargo expanders has about 300 m3 more capacity than an Iteron IV with three T2 cargo expanders. Even if you plan on training for the Iteron V, it's a good idea to use a Bestower in the meantime.

It will take you a long time and cannot be done on a trial account, but skill up for a barge.
You can mine to a jet can and every hour or so get your hauler and empty it.
Even better; if you join a corp, make friends with someone willing to haul for you and you can mine and they can hall/assist with mining, pretty easy to study while just mining, and a 2 person op can make millions per hour for moderately skilled barge pilots.
As someone else stated, afk hauling for courier missions / marketing is probably the best way to make afk money, but you need a decent size hauler for it to be efficient (and knowledge of some good trade hubs[Jita does not count ] and demand areas)

Be warned that jetcan mining can be stolen. and if someone find your afk he can pop your can put is and wait for u to try and empty it there goes you industrial...
Mining in industrial is the safest but less productive... But as always Eve is about Risk vs Reward...
But AFK hauling can own you for agents cn own you a lot of isk and LP ----------- It is by will alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the juice of sapho that thoughts acquire speed, the lips acquire stains, the stains become a warning. It is by will alone... |

Best way to mine and do something else...
I mine and work on 3D at the same time on 2 monitors. I found a timer that I set for a full ice cycle which with my skills is about 12 minutes on my retriver.
I do my 3d.. every 11 minutes and 50 seconds I have to drag ice to the jetcan. That gives me 10 seconds to drag before the next cycle hits and I loose ice. then just rest the timer as soon as the newest cycle gets dumped into cargo then drag that to the can.
So you are basicly spending about 20 seconds clicking on eve every 12 minutes or so.

A Hulk takes months to train, but if you fit it with t2 expanders and t1 cargo rigs, you can have over 17k cargo. No need to jetcan with that.

Only jetcan mine if you have a buddy with your can already open, in a hauler, ready to pull and store the loot. There are too many wanna-be pirates out there that think its cute to steal your ore.
